I’ve obviously been away for too long, who on earth are the red faced shouty people and when did remembrance day became a glorification of war and not a solem day of remembrance?

I refuse to be labelled…but if you insist, probably B.

Due to work, family and the enjoyment of other pastimes I can sometimes go a week or two without riding, its not a big deal but ultimately I always try to set aside time to ride if possible, whether solo or in a group, rain or sunshine, long rides or fun DH shuttles, its all good.

OWG 4 floors indeed, used to always bring the new guys there after a few beers elsewhere and leave them in Mustangs to find there own way home.
Now married so stick to the usual places, in fact having a cider now in Boat Quay.

Typically spend 1-2 weeks here each month, as I am currently managing offices in both HK and Singapore (office is in fact in Chinatown), and although now a little jaded by being here its a good place for a 2 or 3 days stay.
Great if your a foody and happy to explore the local food markets (Maxwelss etc) and you have to try the two main staples out here, Chicken Rice and Spicy Crab.
Not sure of your budget but I usually stay in or near Chinatown mainly for work access and can recommend the Procelein or South Bridge Hotels, two clean no-nonsense places to stay, if your going to splash out then go for a room at the Marina Bay sands, it does give you access to the infinity pool at the top.
Travel is cheap and easy, Taxis are good but I would also recommend the MRT as a good way to get around town, just note that it closes at 11:55pm and then taxis call the shots.
If your looking to maybe get a ride in happy to see if some of the local guys I sometimes ride here can help, email in profile.

Disappointing no one has mention Orchard Towers yet!

At no time in British history would a sentence of capital punishment have been imposed for entering a music festival without a ticket.

Some may have been deported to Australia for attempting to do that during the London stint of Handels celebrated 1784 tour?

Shag it but wouldn’t go out with it, as the saying went at school.

911 In was demonstrating a product a a projector manufacturer in Belgium, and one part if the demonstration was to show a live news feed onto one of their large screens (think cinema size) and we switched to this just after the first plane hit. We all forgot the demonstration for the next 2 hours as we watched the dreadful news unfold, all the while I was trying to contact freinds there as I had be based in NY only a couple of years before, and had even worked in Tower 1 for a while.
I still remember the feeling of dread we had as we then drove back to e UK via the channel tunnel, very strange feeling.

It is also overlooked how fortunate the 2nd round of attempted bombings failed two weeks later, I would hate to have thought what the final toll would be if they had succeeded.

As mentioned above with the Mavics, Alpine, XL or Crossmax are all great for hike a bike situations (if your running flats).

Spent a lot of the 90’s living and working in the States, as with any culture its different, same as with my time spent in Japan and now Hong Kong/Singapore.

They like to talk a good talk, some of them actually back this up, say 75%
Most from the East and West coasts get UK humour and sarcasm
They have corporate jargonists just like we do
They do work hard and have lousy holiday allowance (Asians pretend they do but have a ridiculous amount of national holidays)
There is a definite class system as pointed out above, your either doing well or really trying to do well

I should also add that in the States, and I feel this in Asia also, there is a sense that if you work hard and try you will succeed, something I have never felt in the UK.

The standard black clothing is very slimming and the beards hide a multitude of sins without coming across as a bit too hipsterish, if they could relax there attitude to bacon and beer I would possibly consider.

On a more serious note, we only see whats shown in the western press, there are probably many reasons why they attract people from around the world, local grievances, local politics, a feeling of alienation in the western word, its what their mates are doing etc.

Loved my old 159 Sportswagon and if I was ever to buy a car again I would consider this, Italian style and German engineering, not a bad mix as the recent Lambo’s testify to.

Is Christiana still there, would have thought the property developer would have cleared it out by now?

Some women do get more attractive during motherhood, they develop a shinny rosy glow….as for them actually smoking a cigarette, if they are that stupid a balanced and reasoned conversation with them in public will probably not go down well.

You can slow Dwayne Johnson down by asking him to act.

There are dinosaur running loose, playing havoc and generally ignoring all the health and safety regulations in the park, regulations that are in fact are there to stop this nonsense, I think you can put concerns about blast radius’s being too near the mono-rail for once man.

You really didn’t like this film did you, just let it lie and move on (your lucky, I went to see San Andreas).

Anyway, for a large beast such as your genetically modified dinosaur, you would need something more powerful than a traditional hunting rifle, something like the M32 Grenade Launcher.

    That’s all they speak.

I took an evening class for Mandarin recently, as with Cantonese its a tonal language (4 if I remember rightly) and because I am tone deaf I found it was easier to learn sequences of words.
You may find this the same, try not to memorize each word by rote, try to learn sequences like the classic such as ‘hello, what is your name’ etc.
RTHKs Naked Mandarin podcast is also a good start.Naked Mandarin

Marry a native speaker, it helped my Cantonese.

I imagine there are evening courses being run at your local college or community center, usually these are run by a native speaking student, that’s how I started my Japanese.

No Alps for me, bit too far, but back to Chiang Mai in August as I enjoyed it so much in April, maybe do a long stretch in Europe or New Zealand next year.

My trusty Mach6 seems to do the job.

Been running a 30t for winter but now we are in the midst of the HK summer I’m on the verge of dropping to a 28t for month or so, I’m no great climber at the best but trying to get up 300-500 meters in 35 degree heat and with 80-100%% humidity hurts.

3 days riding at the Fujimi Panarama MTB park in Japan, 2 days of which was in torrential rain, the 3rd day was stunning but it turns out we had pitched up just before a national DH competition so they then taped off the best trail down.

Really looking forward to this, hopefully it’s everything that Interstellar wasn’t.

If your not a fan of Matt Damon trapped alone on a planet you may be disappointed by the sounds of it 🙂

Great body of work, from the early horror films through to the mega blockbusters near the end.
Lord Summerisle, Scaramanga and Dracula, villains you could almost root for.

Talking of Madison, but am I the only one who finds that their sizing is way to big, I’m usually a large (35-36 waist) but I find even their Mediums start to slip down?

Once the sponsors get twitchy then the end is neigh but I cant help feeling that he will come out of this a free man, possibly by simply letting those below him take the wrap (that is if he is guilty of anything, currently nothing is proved).

100GBP is about right for food, bars and taxi, my last night out in the UK (in that there London Town) cost me over 250GBP and I got a train back to my mums after.
That was for cocktails, food i a fancy restaurant and train fare though so no to bad

I cant help feeling that Blatter will come out of this completely unscathed, maybe even more stronger as they are probably just getting rid of the ones that were not clever enough to cover their tracks….allegedly.

As a rule I stick with a high frame rate and lower resolution (720/50fps), wifi definitely off.
I usually stay with a lower resolution as most content these days is viewed via a mobile or tablet device where a 720×1280 resolution is fine but you want to keep the action smooth i.e. a higher frame rate.

Currently working a lot between HK (my home) and Singapore (my office) so I cant provide as might insight as those who have done long stints there but in regards to mountain biking, there’s not much there.
Apart from Bukit Timor, Paula Udin and maybe the Butterfly trail which is apparently soon to close, its more of a roadie place and even then that usually all done very early in the morning.
+1 for onewheel said above, I thought HK was ridiculous for bikes, Singapore takes it to 11.
As for the rest, if your young and single its a great place to be, good food, good places to drink, lots of things to keep you busy and a large expat crowd that should help you in into the social scene.
Personal I just don’t like it as im more a Hong Konger but each to their own, go, enjoy, its near a lot of nice places!

Compared to its larger mirror image brother, Macau or its seedier cousin Atlantic City, its not too bad.
Lots of things to do ‘off strip’ but at the end of the day its a gambling resort, nothing sadder walking into your hotel through the slot machines at 6am and seeing people there with their buckets of change, just doing the monotonous coin in, arm down routine 🙁
Used to go there regularly for a bi-annual trade show but then ended up spending more time in Macau seeing them rebuild Vegas there, trust me, Nevada has more going for it as per Beagleboy.
