Green Eyes, very moving made for TV post-Vietnam movie, highly recommended if you can get a hold of a copy.

Blessed by Fire, there are not many Falkland War movies but this is a moving account from the Argentinian side.

Dirty Pretty Things, I feel I am the only person to have seen this as most of my friends have never heard of it, great movie and very resonant now with the current debate over immigration.

Carlitos Way: Rise to Power, possibly one of the worst acted films I have ever seen, I think l am the only person to admit to have seen this.

I’m confident his views will be rightly judged by the general public though I’m as uncomfortable when a non-PC belief is validated by a religious belief system as I am by the PC brigade telling others their views are unacceptable.

The prequel to Carlitos Way, it was worse than one of those made for TV movies starring that guy that used to play Superman in the 90’s TV series.

The Thing when I was about 12, scared the b’jesus out of me.

Just in Rotorua 2 days ago, though hiking only, from what I could see of the trails there, and talking to the locals, your current bike should be fine.
Most of he trail network seems nicely built and managed, with nice wide trails and well laid out jumps etc, great for your standard 125-150mm travel do it all trail bike.
I envy you, I would kill to have this on my my doorstep.

This kind of reminds me of the New Statesman episode where the Tories put B’stard in charge of the election as the want to lose and avoid having to deal with the economy, of course he wins by offering 4 cans of beer for every vote (or something like that).

Ban people for having different opinions, if he was a real threat to safety and lives yes, but people like him are better kept in the light where he can clearly be seen for what he is.

Mind you, people objected to Churchill for his Nazi scaremongering in the 30’s…

I enjoy them all, they all have weak parts but I would say its difficult to keep the quality up and people interested for over 6 films to date.
Also, the prequeals were not that bad, Jar jar B aside, I thought the fight scenes in were great, the Darth Maul lightsabre dual, the Bobo Fett/Obi Wan battle and seeing Yoda actually fight all compensated for the other terrible, terrible bits.
Also, love this bit: https://youtu.be/05dT34hGRdg
No need for me to rewatch them prior to the 17th, I know the story already.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to start by bombing the mosques in the UK first, that’s seems to be where most of our Muslim terrorist problems have stemmed from in the last 10 years?

Note: add 🙂 face

I would view myself probably a little to the right of the political spectrum but I really cant see what bombing Syria or Iraq any further would achieve, eventually you are going to have to put soldiers on the ground, and good luck with that during a civil war where all parties are potentially hostile (even the Kurds).

Lucky to be of average height (175cm) so tend to be able to get the frame sizing right, also, where I live there are few chances to test ride bikes prior to buying.
Only ever sold a bike quickly after buying blind, and that was when the LBS insisted that it should be the size to go for.

Stop having a go at fat people, they have enough on their plate.

Sounds like some internet self promotion thingy.

I still don’t understand why they all don’t get/make swords, surely far better than the knife they all seem to favour (apart from Michonne obviously).

I still don’t understand why they just don’t start killing them by stabbing them in the head when they have them in one place, you would eventual run out of walking dead, it would take a while but you could do it.

So, just pressed the button on a 601 frame, plus the chain guide, seatpost shim (to 30.9), collar and rear mech protector from Bike-Components.
The plan is that when I get back from holiday my LBS would have built this up using new bits and parts from my old Mach6, going with a new 180mm Lyric fork as well.
This will be my gnarly local DH shuttles & bike holiday ride, the rest of my stuff will be ridden on my Stanton Switchback.

Intended build:
Medium Black Anodized 601 mk3 frame (new)
RS Lyric RCT3 Forks, 180mm (new)
XX1 Drive train
XT M8000 Brake-set
LB 30mm wide rim wheel-set
KS Lev Integra 150mm seat-post

That base build should keep the weight down, don’t want to have top go back to my 28t chain-ring to get up mountains!

Two nations looking after their own self interests, the Russians propping up Assad and wanting to hang on to their Mediterranean base with the Turks looking after their fellow Turkman in he area and also ignoring Syria’s airspace when chasing the Kurds.

National self interest, who would have thought…the only problem being Turkeys NATO membership possibly dragging us all in to this and ISIS nearby.

One last question Steve, did your frame come with the Syntace chain-stay mounted chain guide or do you have to order it separately?

stewartc

Apart from the shock mounting is there any other major differences between a Mk2 and Mk3 601?

Genuine question, as weighing up the options and there are some Mk2’s frames out there going for great prices, if some German web sites are to be trusted.

The Turks shoot down fellow NATO members planes, they are a tad sensitive to all this ‘fly over’ stuff.

I see the Turks are helping ISIS further by shooting down the planes bombing them (tongue in cheek, but….)

For an island dependent on our maritime links not lining up a replacement for Nimrod until now was crass stupidity, its like having the money to buy aircraft carriers but not to put aircraft on them, the support ships to protect and support it or even people to staff them, who would be that stupid?

Bookmarking. Thinking of replacing my Mach6 frame and forks in the new year and a 601/Lyrics combination is definitely a contender.

I got married in Hong Kong as it was just easier as most of the guests would be from that area (wife has a bigger family) and it also meant it would limit the amount of family members from my side going (bunch of free loaders after a free meal/drink).
I subsidized my parents tickets and accommodation and just accepted that a lot of good friends could not make it, however, I did have my stag in the UK so that covered them.
In the end the 2010 Icelandic volcano meant that I was the only one from the UK who made it anyway!

i just cant help but think that someone somewhere in the french/british government knew what was about to happen but would allow it to happen, but only after trying to soften the blow with some news about one individual in particular whose actions recently has morally abhorrent.

The jihadi John rubbish was pure press nonsense but to suggest that it would be announced to prepare for Fridays massacres for political purposes is just prosperous, why not just accept that some aspects of your religion are incompatible with current western values and accept it plays a large part, though certainly not all, for the current mess we are in.

But as is familiar with every terrorist attack by now, a Circus ensues.

There have been a lot of circuses in the last 10 years but I don’t see mass pogroms of Muslims in Europe?
I’m not saying that there aren’t incidents but nothing on the scale that the caption above would seem to indicate, I would say despite Madrid, despite 7/7 and despite Paris (and hundreds of incidents over the last 10 years including foiled attacks) Muslims have a good life in the west and are generally accepted into society.

Cannot get my Dropbox pic links to work on my work PC but will post some next week showing mine around Hong Kong.
Running a mix of 2.225 back and 2.4 front, Maxxis, and 150mm Pikes, Shimano XT drive train and brakes, LB wheelset, great bike, a lot of fun, red though the green does look good.

A gold T reg Mazda 323, got me through my car driving lessons and test (with tape on the rear window to help with the reversing part of the test).
Great old car which I sold too quickly to get my hands on an A plate Renault 5 Gordini Turbo, a real money pit of a car.

Really fancy a Liteville 601 but cant justify it as a replacement for my Mach6, I just don’t live near the Alps and have access to super steep scary trails or the German accent which, based on my browsing knowledge, both appear essential elements to ownership.
