This one is my own fault so I replaced the rim out of my own pocket, its was 2 rides in.

This is the recent damage on my FS, replaced very quickly under warranty, the wheel-set was about 5 months old and had done around 800km of riding.

With both the wheel-sets I replaced all the LB supplied nipples as those seemed to be made of cheese

Just an update on both my sets of 300mm AM wheelsets, both the same with Pro2 and DT Swiss spokes.
Now managed to crack both rear rims on my hard tail and FS, the first one (HT) was my fault for doing a rather crazy drop into a rock garden that would in fairness have tested most rims, the second though (on my FS) happened in late December during a fairly harmless trail ride.
LB to their credit replaced the rim after a short email correspondence within 2 weeks.
I’m not 100% confident on them on the rocky trails I tend to ride here so have gone back to a DT Swiss XM1501 wheelset on my FS, will keep the LB set on my HT however and see how they go, I have a spare set now anyway.

CFH and Jordie, yep, Wan Chai but you both kind of knew that somehow, Lockhard Road regulars?

There are a lot more better parts but this is what most visitors tend to see when they come.
In fairness there is a good curry house nearby.

Two options, quick hose down at my local bar if the right staff are present (some don’t let me use the garden hose) with a beer or two or I give it a proper clean using a bucket of soapy water and a foam, rinse with a wet cloth, then hand dry with a dry cloth, then finally lube the chain and sometimes the suspension ( a little oil around seals).
Option 1 is the preferred method.

There is a whole series of them HERE

Ah, to be young again, I remember weekends in Manchester in the early 90’s when an ex was studying at Salford, a real eye opener for someone bought up on Cinderellas in Guildford and the Fleet Country Club.

Just came back from a trip in December, only running around the North island but all good fun.
Cant really add more than already mentioned above but from my trip..

Maybe Ferry up to Wellington and then get a hire car from there and go to Rotorua, the town itself felt a little ‘Blackpool’ to me but its a cycling mecca, worth at least 3 days or more exploring all the trails nearby.
Then I would recommend driving up to the bay of plenty and spending some time around there, followed by the the Corrinades then onto Auckland.
Found Auckland a little dull, maybe no need for more than a couple of days, try to get a ferry ride out the the surrounding islands.

Then you get someone like the late Jeremy Beadle who reportedly raised c£100m for charity and he only had a MBE

One one hand his MBE seems like a small award, but on the other…IGMC

Planning an all day ride tomorrow and I think a BBQ at a riding buddies place in the next village after.

I’m not a New Year person so I will be starting at 7am tomorrow, make the most of the day.

I would reap my revenge on a few people…brings out small notepad.

Apart from obviously the mortgage/pension, I would probably look at taking a year off to visit those places I always wanted to visit but probably would never get a chance.

I must be lucky, my SB66c lasted 11 months before the top tube cracked, far longer than the chain stay on my ASR-5.

Typically 1 litre per hour in summer, maybe 0.5 litres in winter, I never leave home without at least 2 litres.

Riding in 28 plus degrees and 90% humidity teaches you the importance of hydration.

Hmm, it would take a large bike company to support Gwins wages and his involvement it developing product, a large, huge, big, ginormous bike company…what I’m saying is I think it will be Giant.

Lived in or around Hart most of my young adult life, Mum still lives in Yateley, its a nice part of the world and can see why it ranks highly.
Having spent most of my formative youth running around Guildford (being from Aldershot it was the safer option), I could happily live there, its got some great countryside right nearby.

Had one on my old Mach6 down tube for over a year, judging from some of the indents and scratches on it it seemed to do its job.

I dread to think what I spend per year, typically on a new bike every year, supporting 2 x bikes currently, both 650b of course.
I like to tinker and try new stuff and currently have the disposible income to do that, when I don’t I will stop and stick to what I can afford.
Thats what I like about biking, you don’t need the latest and greatest to enjoy it and it certainly doesn’t make you better at it, its open to all.

Had an AT-AT when Empire came out.

Likewise, I seem to recall the toys in the early 80’s were massive (or I was a lot shorter, one of the two).

Its threads like this that make me determined to hang on to my marriage no matter what, I’m not equipped mentally to be able to socialize with new people, let alone the fairer sex, in my 40’s.

Working from home most of the week, some meetings but now slowly going into standby mode, will ride Christmas eve, may even go for a sneaky one on Wednesday ride afternoon.

As for km79’s wise words…the great thing about these threads is to enlighten us as to the swathes of unenlightened that are more than happy with the status quo, or that want, perhaps, to lower their knuckles a little more and push back a little with their enlargened and thick boned brows.

It also enlightens us to all other sorts.

TBH I’m probably not the market for these types of calendars, but unless its being forced upon you and is not showing anything currently illegal in the places were it can be bought, why ban it?

Threads like this are inspiring, what a lucky lot we are, look at the places we go and things we do.

Yes, some great pictures here, making me look at my plans for 2016.

Been lucky this year, managed some good riding home and abroad, guess the highlight was my first Chiang Mei trip in April (been back since), long dusty trails, good fun and lots of Chang beer to wet the throat.

Were you wearing 3d glasses at a 2d showing, that would explain the darkness?

Just seen a 2d showing here at 8:30am, about 5 of us in the cinema, all middle class males.
Enjoyed it, not up there with 1 or 2 but it seems to run along at a nice pace, the action sequences are good and there are a number of reference points/characters in the film where I got a little lump in the throat.

Yep, medium, will pick up today and give it a quick spin before trying out some rigorous AM stuff tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing what the Lyrics are like, and if I can even climb up the usual mountains on this beasty.

Looks steep due to the angle and rear wheel brace.

Tyre logos don’t line up as the mechanic at my LBS cant read English and the headset spacers will go once I adjust the cockpit (maybe), I have no excuse for the front brake hose.

So, just built up today by my LBS, a mk3 601.
I scavenged as many parts from my Pivot mach6 as i could and just had to buy new forks, 180mm Lyrics, so it not come in at too high a price.
A little to big on travel for my Lantua rides (and heavy) but should do fine for HK DH Shuttle runs and those Chiang Mei trips.

What is the feed back on the lower chain guide, is it worth keeping it with a 1×11 drive train?

I’ve been living for 4 years with no safety net, makes you try harder. Honestly if you can’t get home your not trying

Agreed, if you are an economic migrant why would you not ensure you have a backup to get home if needed?
