Went for 28 but TBH I should have chosen 32 to open up more hub options for any future rebuilds.

Running the same bike to you but with 180mm Lyrics, nearly same weight (90kg) but recently removed the sole token as I felt that it just wasn’t required and that running at 30% sag seemed to be the ‘sweet’ spot for me.
Likewise had one token on my 150mm Pike fitted to my ‘trail’ bike, an SB5c, but again removed it as I found that I just didn’t need it and that 25% sag seemed to work for me.

The use of acronyms on Mumsnet really throws me, I presume DP is not what I think it is, is there some sort of guide?

Ride in a tropical climate and have found the following to be suitable for hot weather riding, the 661 Recon (still good), 661 EVO AM and the Bell Super, all well ventilated though I do find after 8 months or so the velcro fittings for the liners start to come loose on all of them.

Russia seems to be really hung up on being great like it has some kind of country sized ‘small man syndrome’.

If they are not careful they may get so worked up on their western border that they forget about the heirs of Khan eyeing the resources and space of Siberia?

Another attempt at cracking a local loop challenge, failed again, I just don’t have those XC legs (or possibly skill, fitness etc).

Looking forward to some more gravity orientated riding next Easter weekend in Chiang Mai.

150mm on my medium Liteville 601, I’m 175cm but with short legs, reckon I could get away with 170mm also to really slam it down to the top tube.

Currently running a 150mm travel Reverb on my 601, like the ability to adjust the seat to where I feel comfortable and it usually means that at steep sections of trail I can get low over the rear tire without the risk of smashing the crown jewels if I need to rapidly move my weight forward. 170mm though, that just sounds like showing off!

Playing F117 Stealth fighter into the early hours or my first real experience of a 3D environment tool, I think it was called Superscape VRT, where you could set variables such as gravity and mass to objects (I was a CAD guy in the late 80’s/early 90’s).

+1 Chickenhawk and the related Street without Joy, Spike Milligans war diaries are a slightly different take on the standard WW2 read but all the better for it.

I think gearboxes are the future and we are seeing them getting smaller and lighter, the question being will SRAM or Shimano take up the baton and put their considerable resources behind the development of lighter, reliable and affordable components, I fear that in the short term it will be no?

You get T-Shirts now, I prefer the hip flask issued when I went full-in?

Posted about this on another thread, I had XT M8000’s on both my FS and HT but experienced either a lack of modulation or low modulation, so one minute the levers are touching the grips the next the the slightest touch locks the brakes on both sets. Despite regular bleeds I gave up on the FS and fitted SRAM Guides RSC’s, a revelation so far, will probably look to swap-out the XT’s on my HT as funds become available.

My wife would flip if I borrowed money to spend on something like this.

This, why would you want to put yourself in debt for something as fleeting as a gift?

Yes, you should Not eat and drink alcohol with durian or deep fried food coz the energy build up will be too strong for the body to handle

Sounds like you have been listening to a Chinese Doctor Chewkw, my wife comes out with stuff like that all the time?

Had a good mate who lived in Longbridge which I though was a nice place, used to go up often and end up in Preston a lot at night, as everyone is saying above, there are some nice places around it.

Wow, been to Manila a few times on business and casually walked around between hotel, shops and bars without too much worry, just keep your wits about you.
You are landing at 3am, bar some bars/clubs which I would not recommend at 5am in the morning I can’t think of anything open. I would keep your head down at the airport till after 9am and then maybe head to a local mall if have too, rush hour traffic is a nightmare.

I’m 44 and feel it, I would love to say that I feel 20 and have the mental attitude to match but I would be lying, life has ground me down to the husk of a human being I am now.

Myself and the current MrsC love going for a walk after a meal, even better when eating out we will pick a metro station the furthest away and walk to it through different routes, its a great way to get exercise, chat and see some parts of Hong Kong we would not normally.
If possible I also try to walk between meetings during the day, although that is dependent on the weather, sometimes its just not viable if you want your shirt not to resemble a gym t-shirt after 5 minutes.
I remember years ago being based in New Jersey for a while (Mt Arlington) and finding that I could not actually walk to my office from the hotel using pavements or pedestrian road crossings even though it was less than a mile away, I had to jay walk and cross over grass verges.

Been running XT M8000 brakesets on both my HT and FS for the last 5 months but recently changed the FS to Guide RSC’s as I was struggling to get on with them.
They seemed to alternate between really low modulation when running hot (i.e. touch the lever and they lock) or too much, despite several bleeds I just couldn’t get them so that they were consistent so have binned them (in other words, sold).
The Guides seem to be bearing up well with a lot of adjustment availbale but its too early to tell yet but I like the fact that I can put brakes, XX1 shifter and reverb controls all on two brackets.

    Story of Captain Winkle Brown
You have to admire the guy, that’s a life lived.
