Violence by Nazis is not the same as violence against Nazis. There is a clear moral distinction.

Its when you the definition of Nazis gets a bit blurred is when the body count goes up.

Not advocating Nazis, or fascists in general but when its generally accepted that you can ‘punch a nazi’ I would feel a bit uneasy about the direction that society is heading.
Lets do what the Germans do and just make that stuff illegal and let the law deal with it?

The US is fast becoming a totalitarian state

Looks up totalitarian in the dictionary, goes online to watch some US comedians laying into Trump, checks that friends and relatives over there are not living in camps, checks to see if Disney World is still open….decides that maybe some people need to lookup the word hyperbole first.

    Dance off, best of five.

Seems to only happen when its really hot (weather wise).

Yep, not the best for Hong Kong riding!

Replaced both sets now under warranty, my LBS has been pretty good and just replaced them when it happened and sent the faulty sets off for warranty repair.

This could all be resolved if Trump had just listened to what the NK government said about destroying the US and just laughed instead of giving such a idiot reply.

Regarding WWW3, if NK do launch a pre-emptive strike against any US territory I can assure you not even the Chinese would stop the US doing anything, there’s two reasons, one is the financial link between the two countries (its a different world to that of the Korean war) and the second is they are more scared of losing face in not being able to militarily take on the US to even try at present.

I would be more concerned about not what Korea does but who it sells this technology to, I would imagine that Iran getting hold of some half decent ICBM technology would make one or two nations in the middle east a little trigger happy.

    My 2 cents.

Different strokes for different folks, I’m all for people buying top range bikes and components as it funds the development of a lot of the tech that trickles down to the masses, think Eagle NX and Shimano SLX, plus someone gets a great 2nd hand buy further down the road.
I expect bike shops are like car showrooms, the top of the range aspirational show car is center stage but its surrounded buy the cars that everyone actually buys in the end.
Note: I don’t buy 9k bikes but I usually end up spending that once I have gone through all the upgrades!

Just noticed this post and thought I would chip in while the rear mech experts are about, just had this happen for the 2nd time in a couple of months…

Both cases exactly the same, top jockey gets completely pulled off writing of the cage but leaving everything else in an OK condition, any thoughts as I am stumped other than bad luck (i.e. a rock strike) two times in a row?

My argument isn’t about what you believe Cougar, its the point about [sigh} the big hiters (sigh] here belittling anybody who disagrees with their viewpoint and subsequent name calling that follows, I mean, if so many of us were actually fascists Shirley there would be a BNP government by now?
TJ is a the exact reason why we have Brexit and Trump, its his unalienable belief that he is right (quote “stewart – nope – don’t believe that at all” that has destroyed politics threads here.
People may disagree with Jamba and his evidence but he never does resort in name calling unlike the usual blowhards like Kimber or Binners.
As someone who is actually living under the Chinese communist party rule, no, the Tory government you have now is not the worst thing ever, you can complain, vote and protest, your attitude and behaviour really does make my wonder what future the UK has with such utter **** behaviour abounding though I of course realise that STW is so out of touch with the UK populace (recent political event kind of prove that anyway).

I’m presuming this is digital Freeview direct into the TV tuner and not a Settop box?

Is it a direct connection between the aerial itself and the TV with no amplifier or splitter in between, my only thought being maybe a faulty powered splitter or amplifier is present that maybe is not getting power in the evening because of some electrical mains problem in your property?

Envy you, had 1 week there on the North Island in December 2015 with the wife and visiting a friend in Auckland. Hired a car and managed to do a loop around the island nearly but missed so many places.
Bookmarking this as may be back for the South island this year.

    @tjagain

There’s a fourth, a very ‘human character trait’ reason..
    4) To spite people like yourself

You may not realize it but your (and others) grandstanding and admonishing of people who may think differently probably made more people vote Leave than any Daily Mail or UKIP publication.

Never underestimate human beings ability to be self destructive in the face of reason if they feel they are being confronted and belittled for their beliefs.

I mean, people still ride 26er’s!

but answer the questions above honestly

I can only answer from experience, and not living in the UK but entitled to vote I opted not to as I just thought it unfair that I could make a decision that would have no real long term affect on me. I would say the people I know who voted Leave did so for two main reason, a wish for controlled immigration and a lack of trust in aa centralized European government.

Whether this makes them raging rascists is more about your politics than theirs though both subjects are classic actual reality v perception subject amtter.

Grew up in South Africa in the 70’s, came back to the UK aged 10, never got over not having servants anymore and going from a very large house in the sun to a small flat above a shop.

Now in Hong Kong, no current thoughts of ever returning, if anything maybe consider moving further away to NZ or Oz next.

Winter in Hong Kong is great, perfect for riding.
Flew in from India Friday morning so treated myself to a ‘work from home afternoon’, pollution levels slightly lower that usuall so you could just make out HK island and the ICC Tower in the background.

Despite a small fracture on my thumb which made every gear change a real though provoking action I managed to get another 40km of riding in on Sunday, oh I will miss the 16 degree temperature when rainy season and summer hits.

I bet that the people who voted remain would have been more willing (and/or able) to enunciate their reason for doing so in front of a stranger, though. Especially if the stranger was non-white

Trust me, living and travelling throughout in Asia for work I have had to explain this and a host of other western political issues to many people of different hues despite having no real interest or concerns about most of them.
I start by not simply paint-brushing whole swathes of people as ignoramuses, racists or snowflakes and try to understand all sides arguments then go from there and explain the best I can.

We all have certain political leanings (I know I often change my opinion on issues when presented with new facts or personal experiences) but to simply caste them as left or right, right or wrong is absurd, its all very grey around the edges.

The nasty pieces of work who appealed the worst parts of people’s character in the Brexit and US votes only succeeded because that latent, insular, petty, nasty, toxic tendency is there in so many people in the first place.

An example of “I disagree so lets just label you something”, sadly very typical of many of the political threads here and elsewhere.

Why would you need a suit in a tropical rain forest, to me a rain forest screams informal attire?

otherwise linen, looks a bit scruffy and un-ironed but you will be happy once the humidity catches you.

Bangalore (OK) for earlier in the week, today Noida and Delhi followed by a lovely 0125 flight back home (/sarcasm).
You only go to Noida if someone is paying, there is no other reason.

Got a metric one on my new Patrol, cannot compare it to the Monarch but against the X2 its very favorable though I am no suspension guru.
Set the sag, dabbled with the rebound a little (like my shock a little stiff and firm) and rode, 300 plus km and not touched it since so in my book its good.

Might be tempted to also try a coil for bike park holidays but are there any metric versions out there?

Ouija boards don’t work. If you need to contact the Other Side, you’re going to need a pentagram, loads of black candles, a goat, a virgin and a sharp knife. Anyone who tells you different is a charlatan.

I tried that but you try buying four candles in a hardware shop these days, gave up before I even got to the virgin.

And in a great example of not getting that, somebody (trying not to derail the thread) wants to cut immigration to his rich country by decimating the industry of his neighbour and source of illegal immigration.

Maybe that will work out well for said country, with keeping there industrious citizens in the country where there can channel their energies into making there own country better rather than simply a brain/talent drain to the richer neighbour and maintaining the status quo?

I use both POC VPD 2.0’s and Race Face Ambush pads and I find both great for all day rides and even in the tropics here there are fine.
Tend to use the RF ones if I am on an all dayer with lots of climbing as they are easy to whip on and off.
Both of them seem to size up well.

People who use block filters are the same that burn books, so insecure in there beliefs that they have to destroy that which does not fit there own image.
Its an online forum, you can simply scan and scroll, its doesn’t cost you money or time to simply avoid based on the author, are you really that scared that you would be corrupted by words or so lacking in confidence to resist thoughts opposite to your current beliefs?

Slight hijack, planning to be near Swinley between Jan 31st and Feb 5th with possibly 2 x half days (one during the week, one at the weekend) free to ride, since I cannot bring my own bike due to further travel plans, are the hire bikes from the Bike Hut worth hiring to get some pedal time?
