Seat post in vice, some wd40 liberally applied, then try to twist the frame, that’s how I got mine off a few years back.

Thanks all for the feedback, I think a combination of not overthinking this, lots of hydration and eating sensibly during the day should see me through. Its going to be a tough even at night, so if the humidity and sheer difficulty of getting up some of the peaks don’t get me over the 43km then maybe some of the snakes out here will (though it will probably be the Chinese air pollution)!

@surfer, its the Moontrekker Sunrise 43 on Lantau.

If I were to meet an ebike rider out on the trial, and the trail was designated as a non-ebike trail, how could I easily disable said motor?

    Just curious.

How would you like to know a relative had died, via a 3rd person based on a Facebook status update (including pics) or via the authorities?

As above, it was Facebook not the Washington Post.

Loving the Push Eleven Six I have on my Tranny, sadly its making the Fox 36 seem a little, urgh.
Its pricy but it seems solid as and I do break things, plus once it set up you can just kind of forget about it, enough to forget about the extra weight over the Super Delux that was on before (which isn’t too shoddy either to be fair)
2nd to that would be the CC DBAir I put on the Mach6 to replace the standard Fox CTD it came with, I’m not a suspension guru but the change was incredible.

When going through rock gardens or our rough ground try not to change gear and possibly have the chain somewhere in the middle of the cassette.
If you feel resistance, stop pedaling!!!

I can destroy bike components just by looking at them but I have just fitted a OneCompenents EDC to my steerer without to much damage being caused, I gave myself a wee little high five.
Been managing to get a good steady average of 50-60km per week of MTB riding over our savage Hong Kong summer so looking forward to upping the ante a little as our riding season begins.
To help me along with this, there s a MTB trip to Chiang Mei in late October and another to Rotorua early next year, that one is shaping up nicely with even a helicopter ride being organized (first for me).

My understanding is that HDMI 2.0 relates to hardware not cable i.e. “HDMI 2.0b does not define new cables or new connectors. Current High Speed cables (Category 2 cables) are capable of carrying the increased bandwidth”?

    Ref: HDMI.org[/url]

There are only four kinds of HDMI cables, High-speed with Ethernet, High-speed without Ethernet, Standard-speed with Ethernet and Standard-speed without Ethernet.
I’m guessing no one is using the Ethernet feature of HDMI and I’m sure you would struggle to buy Standard Speed HDMI leads anywhere these days but to be sure the HDMI leads you need for 4k should be packaged as ‘high speed’ (this will probably not be printed on the cable, only the box it comes in).
There are some other bits and bobs related to HDMI connectors i.e. 1.4 to 2.0 but this should be immaterial for domestic use.

When we all move to 8k in a couple of years time though………

Don’t ribs fall under impact injuries i.e. even wearing body armour you can still get them if you smash into a rock hard enough?

Of course it lessons the risk, but you are never going to be 100% protected.

Life isn’t futile, there’s beauty in every sunset and every good deed.

War is just one of natures ways of cutting down on the human population every now and then, of trimming of the dead wood and letting the strongest, cleverest and dirtiest to survive.
It even allows us to make huge strides in technology and medicine as well as a bonus.

Scary if you don’t read the actual link you provided.

While the President does have unilateral authority as commander-in-chief to order that nuclear weapons be used for any reason at any time, the actual procedures and technical systems in place for authorizing the execution of a launch order requires a secondary confirmation under a two-man rule, as the President’s order is subject to secondary confirmation by the Secretary of Defense

What I dont understand is why its ok for current nuclear powers to develop “better” nukes. Its also ok for Israel, India and Pakistan to develop them and now have them. But Iran, NK its a big no no.

I don’t think anyone thinks its Ok for any of them to have nuclear weapons but they have them now and they aint going to give them up.

NK having them in itself is worrying enough as there would be less failsafes in place to stop there launch, say what you like about Trump but he would not be able to arbitrarily launch a nuclear attack on anyone, I suspect that Dear Leader wouldn’t have that in place!
And I have said this many times before, just as China ( and some Russian scientists) sold its nuclear tech to Pakistan for cash I’m sure NK is also keen on selling this for hard currency also.

I’m pretty sure I am down the cassette when its happened to me also (i.e. on a DH trail) but not 100% sure but I would say the 2 most recent cases have happened when I have gone through a rough section of trail and then changed up to go over short climb.
So, plough through a rough section, change up to go over a slight climb, applied some mustard and then crack!
I will maybe try to do shuttles again next weekend and just see if I can catch the chain drop prior to pedaling.

That’s two new rear mechs at around 150-200km each, the very first time the LBS rebuilt the rear cage.
I have recently put a Push Eleven6 on but the first two blowouts happened prior to fitting this.
Between the 1st and 2nd time I also installed a new hanger as the original one was slightly bent.

I am stumped but it only seems to happen at on certain area I ride, where the trails are more geared towards the DH grade, all the other places I ride are more XC/Trail type areas.

Fitted Eagle late Feb and done around 1400km before the first upper pulley blew, taking the cage with it, the mech that went yesterday was only about 150km in.
Now on my 3rd mech, so its either just bad luck/clumsiness on my part, some issue with Eagle & the TR Patrol or they really are stretching the design of rear mechs to accommodate 12 speed and make it durable?
I do hit things hard and have cracked frames (admittedly a Yeti so not hard to do), carbon rims and snapped chains (once memorably in two places at the same time!) but this is getting very annoying especially as friends I ride with don’t seem to have any issue, on other bikes though.
Thinking of going back to XX1 11 speed as that seemed bulletproof.
Have a Chiang Mei trip at the end of October, If this mech survives the up to then I will probably take a spare just in case!

    Just destroyed another one today!
Shuttling day, so some energetic rocky trails with lots of bouncing around, half way down one stage went to pedal, felt resistance and then crack, upper pulley disintegrated.
Guessing it disintegrated as I could not find it after, the inner bearing was left and the cage seemed OK bar the upper bearing bolt being unscrewed.
This is the 3rd time now in 2 months and the LBS seems to be making no headway on this, going to give it another try and then go back to 1×11 as I really don’t know what to do next?

Well, my chain was dropping off the top pulley, I first thought it was the rear mech setup but after faffing with that it still kept on happening, after destroying the 2nd rea mech I then tried a new chain and that seems to have worked (fingers crossed, only be 100km of so).

If they are not meshing you should be able to see that by jacking up the rear and then rotating the crank, the chain should drop off on its own?

There’s a big Russian military exercise soon near border with the Baltic States, probably better to have something to hand in case it stops being just an exercise.

Suffered from this recently, in fact managed to destroy a couple of cages/upper pulleys with some enthusiastic pedaling when I didn’t notice it.

Resolved by changing the chain, apparently after 1500-600km it was worn out, stretched and then as a result dropping of the pulley.

Lesson learnt, don’t declare yourself a pacifist nation cuase all that’s going to happen is you get picked on, or in this case have missiles fired over your head.

Chinas laughing all the way to the bank, no ones going to do anything about NK and some of their local rivals, SK and japan (plus the US), will be spending fortunes on trying to get their anti-ICBM tech to work and still look politically weak in the region every time a missile goes off.

Managed to sneak in a pleasant 45km session on Lantau Island in between Typhoons Hata and Pakhar on Saturday though 30% of the time was spent trying to clear a path through the trees and bushes knocked down by Hata.
Judging by the strength of Pakhar that hit yesterday it will be a few weeks before all the trails are 100% rideable again.

I was of the understanding that some of the YT and Canyon riders have dibs in the local distribution of their respective bikes in their home countries, I think Minaar may have a similar deal?
I expect there is a huge jump from 30th place to being a regular on the podium and not just in the amount of kit and support you actually get given.

I suspect if I ever bought a car, it would still be cheaper than my bike.

HK Airport for me as I can leave my apartment and be airside in 25 minutes.

Singapore’s not bad for a stop-over but I think the sports bar in T1 must be the most expensive beer in Asia, if not the world, its something like 12GBP!

Of all those the most memorable is Pune (India) as its a tiddly little airport that happens to share runways space with 3 Indian Airforce fighter squadrons. Night flights out were always fun if you are waiting at the end of the runway for a couple of Sukhois to take off on full afterburner (they always seemed to travel in pairs), the little 737 would get shaken rotten and you hear one hell of a roar.

Have a Mavic 8.5L and an Evoc 16L Enduro, both do the job well and hold a 3L bladder, the Evocs used for those long day rides and the Mavic does well for shorter jaunts. Both seem to be of good build and are coping well.
