Pretty sure it hasn’t been finished yet. I was up a few weeks ago and rode the first top section which included the table tops too…great fun. Went to have a look at the bottom of the trail which will be awesome but it was a long way off completion and was super boggy.

I laughed out loud at Ed saying its like chasing Ewoks…mega, if that’s enough to make you want to go up and have a go I don’t know what is 🙂

hats off to all the trail builders up there that put in so much hard work to make our weekends such fun.

Scape Goat hill is a very close to where I live. It is steep no doubt about it but I would say its one of the worst as its not that long…..
The hairpin as described on the website is pretty steep, but again only short.(be careful of cars, its really narrow and 2 cars can only just pass in parts)

Id be more bothered about the long Isle of Skye road and the Nont Sarah’s, wind isnt an option on these roads its always there and always in your face.

Some beautiful scenery though, in fact stunning.

    Hope thats of some help.

Thanks for the reading mate, I was thinking in purely 2 dimensional Compound only thinking!!!! Width/Pressure/Surface has just opened a much bigger can of worms 🙁

Thanks for the advice guys. I’ll put it back in the leg it came out of and get on touch with Loco or Mojo 🙂
They were serviced in January by Mojo, so I wouldnt have thought they’d have done it wrong.
Good to know what they are though….thankyou.

Next problem, after removing the lowers and the dust seals I noticed there was an ‘o’ ring inside the air side leg (half way up spinning around)…..any clues on where this should sit. Im guessing on the internals somewhere?

It has cut outs in the edge of it which match cutouts inside the other leg, right down in the bottom.

Has it been put in to the wrong leg last time it was serviced?

right hitting harder does nothing only knock the anodising of the end nuts 🙁
Ive let the air out and it went first time 🙂

    Thanks for the advice everyone.

Harder eh…..I’ll go and give it another go.

Thanks for that Stayhigh. That’s the steps I was taking. Watching the video on the Mojo site, they don’t let the air out before the y start and once it’s back together his forks cycles through as normal (with air).

On the Fox Tech Centre they only show how to do a Full service, which involves a full strip down of the air chamber and internals which obviously negates letting the air out.

Should I give it some more welly?

That’s a great job you’ve done there and a quality write up too. Good to see an individual mod, makes it more worth while.

Nice touch matching the typeface. 😀

I cant ride to save my life so Ive booked on to a fashionable course too.
Lets hope he can work his magic and suggest some colour coded accessories to make me better.
I’ll update upon my return 🙂

ps. I genuinely do travel faster when my gloves match my jersey!! And I can run faster in new trainers FACT!

Buying new lever bodies was my back up plan too. The brakes seem to work very well, but I coloured them from new so dont have any previous use to compare them too.

Get yours fitted and get some pics up!!!

Keen to see em all fixed and on the bike.
Dont want to put a damper on your bling brakes but I had an email from Hope clearly saying that once they’ve been stripped and re-anodised the lever piston would leak.
However I have had mine done (email was received after the anodising!!) and they seem to be working very well, so fingers crossed.

As Im from UpNorf I will be opting for the Ed option very soon when my riding buddies can get there diaries synchronized.

Think its very unfair to compare who’s the ‘bestest’, everybody is different from teacher to customer and will have their unique charm. And if Jedi or Ed or anyone else is perfect for you, they may very well be the worst style for someone else.

I’m just hoping that Ed’s beard is the source of his power, wisdom and abilities, like some mystical wizard of the trails 🙂

He’ll need all his mystical strength to straighten out my riding style 🙂

Looking forward to booking in super soon.

My first full-suss, used for general trail and XC riding. I think it could climb better (with my limited knowledge), it does descend great in my opinion, very stable and responsive. I must say I’ve had it nearly 2 years and its still performing great, if not better now I have dialled in my riding style to all the knobs.

    Lets see your pics Rik!

    Yeah my apologies, Carbon Rushians!!
Ive come straight from my rigid retro scott (see below) straight to the Rush. Absolutely nothing to compare it to, but it does make me smile plenty. Didnt know anything about them really, must have struck lucky when I spotted it on ebay and thought, I like orange, squishy at both ends, think I’ll have that 🙂

If looks is a part of the decision, it gets my vote.

ps. the Lapierre is a looker too, just not as dramatic.

First full suss and it has opened my eyes as to how fast a downhill can be munched and spat out.

I dont know the official stance, but I sent some Ritchie carbon bars back as they were supposed to be 660 and measured 640mm.
But even stranger is I now have Easton Monkeylite bars and they measure the specified 685mm.

None of that probably helps but you’re not alone.

ps. I sent the Ritchey bars straight back no quibble as the shop said ‘That’s odd’!!

Take it for a tootle and listen for twanging from the back end when you roll off a kerb or over bumps. The torsion bars at the rear often need replacing and it’ll cost a fortune.
Great nippy go-karts, not as good as the 205’s but it try’s hard.

I demo’d a Altitude and I can mirror Pauls words, it just felt right. Soaked up roots and rocks like a full suss. It was a pleasure to ride….looking back not sure why I bought a full suss.
The demo had a 120mm recon U-Turn, felt super plush.
If I had the chance again, I would definitely purchase.

Trekster: I was merely stating that is just the way things are in the world of ‘need it now’. Bikes always break down just as you need them and knowing that a bike shop can jump on yours and sort it is really good to know.
I also stated Im not unreasonable, I know bike shops are busy and to be fare any service industry in the UK has the same issues, everything is needed yesterday, and I would never want to jump the queue as Im sure every other customer would like a fast turn around too.

Maybe I am impatient, but the bike shop that stops the press, gets used again and again.

Its not an easy balance I know, I couldn’t do it Im sure.

I long for a shop where I can drop my bike off in the morning and pick it up after work. One where the part doesnt have to be ordered and take most of the week to come and fit.
I understand the whole ‘can’t keep everything in stock’ Im not unreasonable but with internet prices and next day availability I’m keen to give it a go myself.
I would much prefer the one to one friendly experience, but in a world of super impatience and must-have-it-now, it just doesnt work like that and I feel sorry for the shops that find it hard.

My local bike shop ‘was’ fantastic for turning things around fast and nothing was too much trouble, always worked late and was reasonably priced.
Yes you guessed it for all his hard work he went bust.

On the other hand another local shop has a huge amount of stock but is rude, unhelpful, arrogant and thinks he’s doing me a favour by me spending money (on the rare occasion when all else fails) Rant over!!:)

If you could find a balance of stock, service and still make a good living then I hope you do well…..business plan is high up there on the essential list.

    Good luck matey.

Definitely did the right thing in pointing out the error.

My mate has just picked up his brand new bike from Halfrauds, on his first ride the stem was loose and the crank came off and completely sheered the spline when it finally popped off, causing him to fall off into the road.

Halfrauds response: “oh they sometimes come from the factory not tightened un correctly…sorry about that. we’ll replace the bottom bracket and crankset”

What do they check when they check the bike pre-pick up??

I did care, but as the rule of £1 per gram doesnt always run true I am subsequently drained of cash and residing myself to get on with riding and stop being an overly obsessive big girl!!
Thinking of removing a few spokes, skewers, grips, stem bolts and my kidneys. Every litte helps 🙂

Are they easy to remove by a novice or is it a case of a full caliper strip and rebuild??

Thanks for your thoughts, bit of a mixed bag then. Cobalts Look great, need some care but you can’t really put your full trust in them to be super reliable.
The Cobalts cost significantly more too.

    Any more experiences.

I feel for you. I rang over 15 companies this week, who all had them listed on their sites but none in stock.
Easton must be having some trouble some where along the line.

If you have no luck with the ones from the shed I found mine here this week.

You assume I know theres only one bar….if I knew that I would be posting (typed in a non-narky manner):)
That said then, all the bars that are just advertised as Simply Monkeylite XC must be the EC70 regardless of description or livery??
    That correct?

    Stevo210

That only backs up what Im saying.
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=52680

Clearly marked up as EC70 in the advert but on the bars they are marked up as just Monkeylite XC

Managed to try the spacers and I can just get a 20mm spacer underneath.
Didnt think it would work as simply as just lifting up the stem, thought it would affect steering pivot point etc.

Yet to swap the controls and give it a whirl but the height and position of the bars is now very similar, if not looking a little odd.
