Is the right answer – I got a pair from this fine purveyor of the aforementioned item – very good indeed

+1 Ive ridden for years with wet cold feet due to being put off with the price tag and to be fair lack of knowledge of how good things could be.
We were out last night in the pouring rain and a few stream crossings at speed and I returned home with toastie dry feet.

PS. this is only possible if you have full length trousers to stop the water running in to the top of the boot as I found out to my cost the first time out as it took me an age to dry the things out. Still 10/10 🙂

Put the bike on a work stand or turn it upside down. You will now find that using just a couple of fingers you can accelerate the wheel up to speed quite easily. Compared to accelerating you and the rest of the bike up to speed (which takes your leg muscles not just a couple of fingers) the power needed to rotate the wheels is practically insignificant so the difference you felt is likely to be due to the placaebo effect.

    now is this Science FACT?

    Yeah I guess so..

It just felt way more eager to get to the top and with a lot less effort.

That 456 SS is very nice Stevo – seems to be missing a gold seatclamp though and that seat has to go.

Scroll down and see the full gangster effect….nice!!

Is there a new set of brakes out called Evo after Tech? Am I misunderstanding that?

Can Crests take a 2.5″ tyre (like a rubber queen 2.4!)?

    Taken from JRA web brochure
“A versatile rim suitable for most cross-country riding from racing to big days in the mountains. The Crest uses the next-generation bead hook for improved tubeless performance and is wide enough to comfortably take tyres up to 2.4″. Uses Next Generation BST.”

    Hope that helps

Im 11.5 and having a set of Crest built up this week. I’d describe my riding as clumsy, rough trails with a few drop-offs thrown in and Crests were suggested by my wheel builder. So I’ll let you know 🙂

Any more suggestions, Im quite interested in this too.

Hi loum, thanks for your experience thats reassuring.
Sorry to hijack the thread, for whats it worth though Luigi you should give Jon a ring, he’s been more than helpful in advising me on what type of rim and build would be appropriate. http://www.justridingalong.com

Ive been told more than once, you can have all the right components but if you done have a knowledgeable builder, you’re wasting your time.

I’m a recent Gravity Dropper convert and have to say I’m loving it. But it’s not only just great on steep techy stuff, it’s flat twisty singletrack, where you can really swing your weight, hips and bike in the corners unhindered. For me it’s brought the bike to life not just the ability to descend safer and quicker.

It’s crying for a tan coloured spoon saddle.
Mine came with some grandmas tights coloured grips too, mental haha.

I always fancied one of these as they seemed a well thought out idea. Dont know how strong they are but you’ll be ‘down wit kids’

I use their own – although others are available. £9 for two batteries or £18 for two batteries and the charger.

It’s a lot less bright on disposables. Appreciate you looking that up mate, I’ll have a look into it and see what weighs up the most appropriate.

Are the lights to see by not bright enough?

The lights are plenty bright enough but a flashing like catches the eye of the driver way quicker and at some greater distance than a constant light IMO!!
I have a constant and a flashing on the back and just wanted a similar set up on the front.

Thanks for the suggestions, all of those look great. The Flea is looking like the winner though on size and price.

Im interested to know, as a lot of riders use knee pads, using the Lycra route, do the pads sit well over the Lycra longs. Or for the warmth on the legs is it best to go for long baggies with the pads underneath?

    Turbo Multi winging its way…

    Will update soon.

Hey thanks for all your replies, just got in and catching up.
Northwind, are you using a turbo multi? Seen a few posts where the multi’s have broken.

the return speed so it’s rocket ship fast,

thanks for that. I wondered how it would compare to the Turbo on the return. Im not fancying my bits been whacked either.
The Turbo just returns like all other posts out there on the market, one trigger push and they raise.
If it isn’t such a handy-cap then maybe the Classic is the one to go for.

    Any more thoughts?/experiences?

You weren’t secretly wishing you had one then. Im having issues with the routing of the Turbo, but in my mind I somehow think thats the one I should have 🙁

When you say easier to move, is it sprung differently or returns quicker?

I’ve use the same can of Fork Juice most weeks for last 2 years and its nowhere near half way empty. I think its very good value.
And its pretty good at getting your shower screen moving over the bath side 🙂

No discomfort, not too hot, and still in exactly the same place as when I put them on. Fit and forget

No discomfort, maybe I just had the wrong size.
I have a mate who rides with those G-Forms (elbow pads)and the verdict is good. They’re on my list too, when the in-your-face-yellow isnt the only option 🙂

Ive tried the 661 EVO pad which were good but I found they didnt stay where should and the opening at the back of the knee wasnt anywhere near where my leg bent. Maybe Ive just got crazy legs.
I ended up opting for the Fox Launch Pro pads that are pre formed to follow the legs contours so they stay up way better. Plus they have a larger opening at the back.
I can honestly say after 5 minutes of putting them on I genuinely forget they are there…..perfect, worth every penny.

ps. I purchased also after an off 🙁 Dont go out without em now.

Cheers…..was confused, you meant actual posts not dust covers.
There’s lots of posts coming out, so hard to know which one to go for or which one to wait for.
Likes been said you’d expect Fox to be great but it’s a long way off.

Has anyone successfully replaced the GD dust cover with a nice plush neoprene one in a vain attempt to enhance its looks?

If so whats the most suitable?

Im looking at purchasing one in the next week or so and although I aint too keen on the Gravity Dropper it seems to be the only sensible option.
After a weekend with Ed.O. up in Gisburn he related all manner of issues he’d had with other posts and how many times he had had warranty replacements etc etc. His Gravity Dropper was still going strong.

    http://www.great-rock.co.uk/2011/10/gravity-dropper/

    Still damn ugly though 🙁

Thanks for that info Rudedog. I pass a guy most nights that has a builders high-vis vest duct tapped around his rucksack, flapping like a bad’un. Seems to work for him 🙂 He is still wearing his rigger boots though 🙁

Thanks for the pics mate, that looks to fit pretty good. Mine is a lot smaller I reckon though with it only being 13ltr.
I’m going to have to try one on for size.
