Thanks Smarty, I’ll see what I can wangle, 18 bikes were super helpful. But still undecided if pro3’s or pro2’s are the way to go.

    Any more members experiences?

Yeah I was talking to 18 Bikes the other day but I thought the colour’d hubs were only available on the Pro2’s? Am I wrong, guess I must be as the above red hubs proves it.

ooooow, I thought the pro3’s were only available in black.

Thanks for those comments. Love your red hubs are those ZTR and whats the weight. The Pro3’s are only 1463g

I kind of feel if Im having to fork out for a wheelset to loose weight I really want to lose the most possible. But at what cost?, un-rideable anywhere?

much appreciated mate. If pointy is bad then Mr Middle ring is not looking too good 🙁

cheers for the advice there. take it the jockey wheels shouldn’t be sharp and pointy either? 🙁

Did you go 960 or super HD. debating whether the extra cash is worth the extra HDness

That does help mate, really just at the start of the weight saving OCD stage. started with the tyres, which were Intense 2.35 404’s chubby little fellas. Then the skewers which are super light and were a bargain.

I’ll have a look in to the KCNC stem and seatpost.I’ve seen a very nice set of Ritchie super logic bars and seatpost in the Merlin cyles sale. 145gms for a set of riser bars, mega.

Thanks for that advice mate. I hate having a soggy muddy ass, and carrying a super muddy camelbak which is crusty at the next use 🙁

    check out these nashers.

You aint wrong the chubby weight was without all the extra’s. I just hate coming home covered. Winter aint pleasant riding 🙁

Puppies teeth 🙁 what does that term mean? guessing not good?

New jockey wheels are on the cards anyway….KCNC bling.
Having said that my derailleur is a little bent, but I may have to put up with it if I need new chainrings 🙁

Feeling a little sicker now than earlier.

Thanks for the wheel advice Scoob, they may have to wait with the pending spending.

Good plan, lets get things into perspective….

weight 12 stone dead but getting lighter slowly, wont go below 11.5st
Kitted up maybe a couple of pounds heavier.

Bike Cannondale Rush Carbon (currently at a chubby 28.5lbs)

Riding: general local XC trails, the odd trail centre, nowt extreme, just faster the better.
1ft-2ft drop offs max, scared of heights 🙂

    Thanks mate,
    Pro2’s on Crest weigh=1653g
    Pro2’s on Crest weigh=1603g
    Pro3’s on Crest weigh=1463g

My wheelset is 1985g on my scales. really trying to shift some weight so ever gram counts….thoughts….still pro2’s?

:)…..right then seeing as Im tring to shift some weight, whats everyones recommendations on a lightweight cassette.

Im also wanting to change my wheelset for a set of 24spoke Hope Pro3 SPXC6 but Im really worried that I’ll end up having to ride carefully just to save a few grams…..experiences welcomed. I have a read a few posts that say they are fine, but then again I’ve read a few posts that keep breaking spokes.

Maybe thats for a seperate thread.

    Help appreciated…cheers.

Im thinking of removing mine. If you look closely at the way its sanded (grain of the brushed steel) one semi circle is one way and the other in a different direction. Mine aren’t warped but when the pad makes contact with the different surface it grips and tugs way harder than on the other half of the disc. ABS effect as above.

No way……really?? You all just trying to get me to buy a bling new lightweight cassette 🙁

I must admit Ive been more than slack when it comes to my forks servicing, just tended to throw on some Fork Juice and left them well along as they ran smooth.Stripped down the RLC lockout a couple of times to keep it sweat but thats it.

I bit the bullet and last week sent them away to Mojo for a full service, posted Tuesday, received back Friday…..brilliant!!

Wish I had done it a long time ago, they come back looking like new, and I mean new, new stickers, paint chips touched up, super smooth action and the RLC/Lockout has never felt as slick. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, will definitelty keep up to the servicde schedule from now on.

    Thumbs up to MOJO 🙂

ps. I dont work for them 🙂

Ive been running some fat Intense 404 monsters which have given me some real confidence in both corners and rocky terrain.
Had to put the Panaracers back on for a few weeks and they’ve knocked me for 6. squirming everywhere…. Im sure this is my lack of skill as many of my friends love them, but I’ve a pair of Nobby Nics EVO coming on Thursday so am dying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Bring on my Friday ride in the Lakes 🙂

mogsuncle, get a picture up. It would matter to me, but Im aware I have issues 🙂

On-One have always been good to me on the phone, delivery and in the showroom 1-1.
Big thumbs up from me, there’s plenty of companies out there I cant say the same for.

Thanks for that NNOP, so what do we reckon for a medium (mine) 5.5 lbs (100gms less)??

Fair point, but still doesn’t help those who just want to know 🙁
Damn you Cannondale for your sneaky marketing ways….grrrrr

Thats all the info I could find as well. If everybody just weighed their bikes and printed that we’d all be happy.
Why not weigh each size, not rocket science!!!

You’d think Cannondale would list it somewhere 🙁

Ive tried on the Stealth and thought it felt a bit too rubberised and stiff and a little too warm for me.

    Young’uns today….. I’m searching for a brand of jackets 🙂

Thanks Bez, that’s really helped. You’re probably right, its my first softshell. Im coming from a very moist Altura sweating cape, so anything thats a little more breathable will be a pleasant change. What’s ISTR?

Wow, that pretty much clears that up then, big difference in style.
What are the recommendation for a super quality (non bin bag) soft shell?

    cheers for that vinny.
Will all these rims take tubes? May be digging myself a big hole if they done.

Found the 355’s at 813 Front / 925 Rear, slightly lighter that the Flow’s.

Stan flows wont save me much weight really. 100gsm ish, thats a big outlay for little gain.

🙂 it’ll take more that a set of wheels I reckon to get there…. I have however a stihl saw in the garage, that’ll shed a few pounds.

Finally going to take the plunge on some wheels in the next week.
Ressurecting this thread to see what wheels you’d recommend for general XC riding, to be as light as possible.

Ive found the Stans Flow are 880 F and 1006 R. & as above the Crest build would be 493gsm lighter.

My wheel weights are above (mavic 317 with DT Swiss hubs) I’s like to go for the Hope Pro2 hubs but dont have a preference on the rims, just want to save some weight.

Thanks Shackleton, thats a good write up. Im liking the sound of the Phantom 1. I would be wearing with just a base layer most of the time.
