Probably the same as above that Andy’s posted – there are a few local groups who do Saturday rides that cover the island’s hills but they’re closed groups for various reasons :(

i’ve had 911 OMN since i was 21 but it’s never got past a run of Fiesta Mk2/Renault 4GT/Rover 214/Pug 405/Honda Civic Est/Cacky Citroens and now Honda Civic Tourer. i’m only 50 so there’s hope yet!!!

And a mate had MAN 51 L and sold it to Mansell for £500 when he lived on the Isle of Man

Have a carbon 2013 Ultegra Defy; bought a Datum 20 as a N+1 in March from Rutland. The Datum on stock wheels was only maybe 5 mins slower over 23.5 miles with 750 metres of climbing. i stuck some Hunt wheels on and then its nearly as fast on road with 28mm tires. Regular even-more-reduced prices @ Rutland that would make some Hunt wheels a decent upgrade

Second the Datum (got mine from Rutland and now its £1,499) – meets your criteria and its nearly as fast on the std tires as my Defy but wont need wheels re-truing after some gravel fire road action like my Defy did…

A track too far but what a view; Glen Roy to Windy Corner (bringing a Gravel bike to a full suss fight…) – waiting for better tubeless tires before i risk my Hunt wheels…

Hunt 4 Seasons good for the money – as long as your forks don’t foul on the 15mm std lock ring… (you need a slim Lock Ring if you have a Genesis Datum :) but Hunt will send one if needed….)

my lockring appeared Saturday in a nice neat package from Hunt . Then the one from Wiggle appeared eventually today, oh well…

have you spoken to Hunt? i’ve messaged Hamish from there; they’re aware of the problem and have said they’ll post one of the low profile 15mm lockrings to me!!

Edinburgh’s probably nice ( ;)…) but the Isle of Man is compact, bijou, retro and you can’t ride too far without hitting a pub/cafe or falling off the edge. And Brett’s a decent host too… Come over and say hello!

DO Cap Formentor early; i left my hotel (Fergus Spa) @ 8am on Easter Monday and by the time i was coming back down that first climb it was like a line of ants coming the other way…

if you can stretch to £1499 Rutland have the Genesis Datum 20 down from £2100… had mine a week and it seems to be very nice (bar a slidy saddle & slightly too long stem)

Hard day for you; had to do the same 4.5 years ago. I clearly remember crying in the Vets whilst the vet nurse was telling me to go home and ring up the next day and sort things out. My wife regrets not bringing ashes home… As for the 2 we unwisely got just before our Christmas 2012 Disney trip, one was Satan’s kitty and went back after leaving trails of bloody snot everywhere… the other is a fluffy roost ruler who keeps me on a tight leash!

at work there’s a white board above my desk. when my colleagues found out that i have (slight ) reservations about eating food that still looks like it did when it was alive (ie visible egg and not in a cake like God meant it..) they started listing things on the board and getting exasperated on my behalf…

i just said i don’t like it so i don’t eat it; whats worth worrying about???

mind you one of my colleagues has never eaten chips, cheese & gravy (Manx alternative “National Dish”) so there you go. thank heavens we’re all different :)

Just reading through this; glad to hear you’re sorted..

Out of interest my cousin’s wife has a business, and her business partner got similarly scammed for a very large sum of their money (several times your figure…). Their bank refunded them as they had not followed their own verification practice before letting the cash go out to the scammers…
