A bit of a faff but you could do your normal ride and measure how much you actually drop your seat by. I’m looking into getting a dropper and did this. I was surprised to find I only dropped my seat by about 3-4″ so a 5″ drop would be plenty for me

The hills should just be for walkers and, strangely, horses. They aren’t dangerous and unpredictable in any way or do any damage at all…

Ah, I thought it was one of the ‘on this day ones’. There were bloody loads of letters like that when I 1st started riding the hills…

Ooh, I remember that letter. I did think at the time that it would make some of the downhill bits even more fun..
Things do seem to have got better on the hills. I remember, back in the day, when walkers would deliberately block the path to prevent me riding past them. I even had one old guy try to push me off…

M & S long sleeved thermal top. Have ridden the Malverns at -14 degrees with that and a Berghaus windstopper top. Can’t beat it for the money.

    Thanks guys.
turtleheading: black grips on Xmas list
binners: The photo doesn’t do the colour justice. It’s really nice in the flesh – pearlescent & metallic :-)

Cheers mate. I was surprised too but it was only on bathroom scales so may be a bit out..doesn’t feel as heavy as my old Reign which I did weigh accurately @ 31lbs

I changed from Race Face (only Evolve XC) to XT 2 x 10 and noticed a significant increase in strength/stiffness. And the BB is soo much better.

Those look like another option George but the code doesn’t work :-(

Currently running Maxxis Minion 2.35 on the front, Ardent 2.25 on the rear and would be looking to use similar as I find them really good for my riding. Would be fitted to an Intense 6.6 but most of my riding is just XC type on the Malverns (quite quick decents, no real drops etc) but will be used for the odd trial centre visit. I’d like to think I’m a smooth, fairly quick rider..
granny: those are the ones I’m looking at :-)

Got a Joe Blow sport from Merlin on a deal, not expensive but does what a pump should do very well..

Ah, forgot about Clements…and I work in ledbury. Can pop in after work and see what they can do. A smile would be nice and maybe a short conversation ;-)

I’ll pop in and see Paul. Did think about doing it myself but for the amount I ride/time involved etc I reckon it would be better to get it done properly.

Stayed here a few times now and it’s a decent base for Afan and Glyncorrwg trails. You can ride out from the campsite..

If you want to save some money, visit you LBS to try some on then order on line. My LBS always sells everything @ RRP and won’t even try to compete with lower prices to get a sale….

I’ve got one of these: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=60766 and can’t recommend it enough. I had a bargain too as someone was selling it for £30 :-)

Brown but comfy :-) There are a few tweaks yet to do, only finished building today, stickers on tomorrow. Back brake needs a bleed so will shorten the hose at same time

Friday is normally pretty quite on the Malverns. It’s the weekend when all the ‘ramblers’ come out. Can give you some tips on a good route if you fancy?

B*stards indeed. Hope they find you bike and the scrotes who took it then cut off their hands. That’s what I’d do anyway..but they’d probably just get a ‘telling off’
