17 mph is doable for most proper cyclists, ie someone who rides a couple of times a week. On a flat course anyway.

Getting from 17mph to 20 is a big jump and takes much more training and lots of miles in the legs.

Good for you, it’s nice to hear a bit of good news on here.

As been said, your not talking about bushes, if you are you want something softer than the shaft.

I would us a tungsten carbide tip for any stainless, even just drilling through relatively thin ss. You can chew through hardend steel drills and lathe tools.

Now we get to the crux of why folk can stand England. Complaining about Walsh when he had a perfectly good game, compared to Joubert last week it was the best reff’d match in history.

They were hammered by a much better team, despite their cheating and spitting at the welsh they still couldn’t win.

I smashed my edge 200 on a trail and got a refurb from Garmin for half price. Worked for 10 mins then the screen bled everywhere, back to Garmin for another replacement. Has worked fine now for the past 8 months. Took Garmin ages mind, not very impressed with there customer service tbh.

18mph on road with a MTB, ye gods you must be fast
**** incredible I’d say, for someone who claims to be 20lbs overweight. Imagine how fast he’ll be when he loses that 3 stone or gets a proper road bike. Lance watch out!

Don’t worry zilog have a Cervelo in the garage waiting for spring.

Bikes don’t make as big a difference as some people think, especially on short rides. Yes on longer rides > 50 miles a decent road bike is much faster. Pump the tyres up hard and I doubt you are any more than 2 mph slower on average speed.

My cube is not that heavy and actually I am at least 25 lbs over weight not 20. Granted on a longer ride I would probably be 4 mph slower on the mtb.

And I am not fit, not by a long shot. But am training hard and hoping to get there by this time next year. At least be able to keep up with the fast guys in the club over shorter rides. I doubt I will ever keep up with the 10 stone whippets in the hills. My legs weigh 10 stone!

It’s pretty slow for sure, I’m not much better mind, last weekend managed 30 miles on the mountain bike ( but road miles) averaged 18 mph.

I think is the cold air, just seems harder to breath in lungfulls of freezing air.

Please spring can you finally come and see us.

This might sound mad but best snow car I have ever driven was a mk 2 Astra, beige 1.4 petrol.

Don’t know why but could go anywhere in the snow. This was 20 years ago.

Why can’t the English, accept the fact they are English. I know you don’t want to be English, but you are. Get over it.

IMO England lost the game by not committing to the breakdown. OK in defence but they need to commit faster and stronger at other times.

Utter rubbish, did you watch the game? Wales won the game, were better in every area and stopped England from playing.

Sorry but the BBC pretty much represents England on the world stage.

Why should I support England, I just don’t get it. Why?

Yes I knew Wales would win, but the way they beat up on England was something else. Just taught them a lesson in rugby, very impressive. Saying that Wales needed 16 players to beat Scotland last week.

    Not you don’t.

The loss of cb is on a sliding scale and your tax I crease is only on the amount above the lower limit threshold. And you get extra tax relieve at 40% on pensions.

So actually old chap, you simply don’t.

I will tell you the exact problem, watching the rugby forum on the red button, and they are talking about all the 6 nations side and how they have done n the championship, guess what, they only mention 5 of the sides, and totally miss out Scotland. That’s why, English press and commentators are feckless and I hate the fact some of my licence fee money are paying for them. P.s. JD is the same too.

I have last years cube gtc, it’s a very nice bike. Granted the whyte looks very nice.

If you really are bothered about looks then go that way. I actually like the look of the cube in that colour anyway. I like o be a bit different and not follow the masses.

Next time you go up a tax bracket you run the risk of earning less than you do now!

    Don’t talk rubbish.

I moved to Germany which has higher tax than the UK, creates more government employment and gives higher benefits. It also has cleaner streets, lower crime, more efficient transport and much more sporting and recreational facilities. All in all I very much feel that the higher taxes contribute to a much better life.
The biggest problem in the UK is the greed and selfishness of the rich, they are far to insular to realise the benefits of contribution to the health of wider society.

    Brill well said that man……………………………………..

It would be so much easier for everyone I think if teachers just sopped doing all those unpaid jobs that just get seen for granted, you get no thanks from anyone.

Best bit of my job is the kids, shame you have to put up with all the crap of the day just to teach.

    stevewhyte

Why can’t you parents just say thanks, instead of whining about education and teachers. Reminds me of the speech in A Few Good Men about complaining about the manner in which the security is provided.

I get the feeling you just don’t get it. There is no money in education. It’s been cut for at least 10 years, or it’s be diverted into things that are not pupil centred.

Teachers give up there time for free to do these activities, less and less teachers are doing it, particularly adventure sports where the risks can be higher.

If you can’t afford don’t go, if you can go. Why should kids. Be prevented from going on trips because some parents would rather buy fags, vodka and Nike trainers than spend money on their kids?

It won’t be long till school stop offering these trips, hopefully then you will stop moaning. Fat chance!

You could get fulcrum racing 3 for under £400 a few months ago, not sure if you still can. They are a good pair of wheels too. Loads of decent options.

Mavic are expensive and look bling, but for the money they’re heavy, high drag and flexy compared to just about anything else for the money.

    POSTED 2 HOURS AGO # REPORT-POST

    Sorry but that’s total B.S.

I am no Mavic employee, but have used there wheels for close to 30 wheels have a set of open 4cd rims for over 20 years on my steel classic, have mavic cross trail on my mtb and akasims for training wheels, all perform superbly. Also had an original pair of ksyruims, they were great wheels.

Not saying you can’t get lighter, but they are week made and fast strong wheels. Mavic probably sell more than anyone else.

Would love a set of SLR 29ers but out my price range right now, spending too much on my road bike these days.

I think the consensus was the Joubert was shocking yesterday, more so than Clancy. Woodward eluded to that in the post match forum today.

The SRU should really make a formal complaint, and that should be the last 6 nations game he is in charge of.

Clancy was poor today, but not to the same degree.

Get a set of akasims and don’t waste your money on £800 for that bike. The mavics are perfectly good wheels for under £200
