You will get the usuall willy wavers saying how nothing less that 53-11 biggest gear and all that utter push. Personally I have an 11-28 with compact front. That was on the bike when I got it, when I change then it’s a 12-28 or 12-27. You can spin a 50×12 at 40mph, and I don’t see many on here doing that on the flat.

Be awar that not all rear mechs will take a 32 big cog.

I think it’s something to do with being dark at 10 in the morning if the clock don’t change come mid winter up here.

I blame the tilt of the earth myself.

Why not stick a huge mirror in space and turn it in come October through to march, give us an extra sun for those few hrs.

Nope the bike it was going on was never mentioned. I don’t blame the company who sold them, it’s just that my sales contrac is with them so I have to deal through them. It’s really the manufacturer who should have said that it won’t work.

But the money changed hands with the yet to be named company.

    Ok al

Ther was this guy who bought something, the hing didn’t work right and it was sent back, it was fixed but the thing still does not work right it seems that it’s a comparability issue with my bike, the design of the object limits it’s use on my bike. I want to send it back but he company I bought it from said hey can do nothing and o sell it on a well know Internet auction site.

How’s that for no names. 🙂

I think I am going to have to site a letter and spell it out to them, probably will take 6 months now, all hey ad to do is take it back, it an irrelevant amp it to a company like them, much more damage from a public relations point of view.

The company have washed their hands, the product has been sent back once already. They are now saying because it’s been nearly 4 months tuff. Bear in mind it was with them for 6 weeks.

I have sent them pics and a very pleasant email regarding the situation.

They seem to be very disinterested in helping. This is a pretty big on line shop.

I don’t want to give details right now until I get it resolved.

Bikes are perfectly safe as long as you show them respect and ride with in your limits.

    Whatever you say grandad. 😉

Wow, so motorcycling is only about buying expensive sportsbikes and going as fast as possible with some other people in leather onesies?

Can’t see where anyone has suggested that.

It’s just the one aspect that I no longer frequent. If I wasn’t very much into my cycling now I would probably still have a bike and ride like an old fart like you. 😉

P.S. You don’t need professional tuition to ride a bike… but it’s advised to pass the test. It’s not actually terribly complex to ride a bike.

    Talking about disagreeing.

Love my reaction 29er, i’d prefer a 2 x 10 lighter set up and lighter wheels, also the seatpost saddle combo will need swapping out, the saddle may look light and racey, but it’s heavy and uncomfortable.

I stuck a 30mm shorter stem on it too, got the 19″ at a smidge under 6ft tall, and was a little too stretched out.

    It flies . . .

I stuck a 60mm stem on mine too, found my weight was a tad too far over the front end.

I find te saddle ok, it’s hardly a boat anchor, maybe 50g heavier than others. But it’s not the best and for sure another place to make a worth while swap.

Doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with the seaost to me, it’s very strong, easy to adjust and clamps hard. Again not the lightest.

How so hitman, my reaction weighs just under 24lbs, for a 29er that cost £1500 I would say that’s pretty light. My road bike is only 6 lbs lighter.

Do you have examples of bikes that are much lighter spec for spec.

I think anyone who smokes knows the risks these days.

Not every new bike rider is fully aware of them.

As I said, I have seen too many crashes and deaths on the road, riding a sports bike on the oaf the way it is meant is no longer an option for me. The risk now outweighs the reward.

I think it’s worth pointing that out to any potential new rider.

Well hopefully that might change over the next 4 years.

There must also be an issuer regarding xc tracks, how many trail centres would be suitable for a xc race, wide enough for 30+ riders and have the ability for spectators or cameras to get into?

Make sure you get an organ doner card and talk it over with the nearest and dearest for when they have to use it.
What an absolutely CRAP thing to say in a thread.

    Muppet.

Really, sorry but I’m pretty well qualified to talk about motorbikes on this or any forum. I would stand my experience against anyone.

If you don’t think that riding a motorbike is dangerous Then you are deluded and probably should not be riding.

The thrill and anticipation or riding and owning a big bike is amazing, the reality is less so. Spending your time riding at the speed limit does not work and no one does this on big sports bikes (with all sort of bs excuses). The reality of riding in the uk now with the traffic volumes and high levels of policing not to mention the potential to go to jail with the twist of 5 sec or throttle is not fun any more.

I don’t ride sprtsbikes on the road anymore, I have seen too many killed. If I get another sports bike then it will be track only.

There are millions of sensible bikers out there, but it only takes one tit or porr car driver to make you need that organ donar card.

No rack mounts on the reaction.

I have a reaction 29er and it’s a fab bike, well made quality carbon, and great frame finish. Value for money is off the chart, in a few years no way will these bikes be this cheap.

Mountain biking still has a big image problem with the young. Most kids see mountain biking as downhill, they are less aware that XC is where it’s at. Trying to get kids involved in the sport is critical, the young need to stal the sport back from fat middle aged IT guys with Audis.

A better racing scene for the young and more access to half decent bikes, not £100 tescos specials.

Prefer the saddle bag for the improved aero, at greater than 25 mph if you have stuff in the rear pockets it disrupts the flow and producers a low pressure at the rear of the bike, this can add 50watts to your effort.

you should be sat at home on the computer saying how gash it was based purely on the fact that you can wobble around a trail centre slowly with a 5″ travel skill compensator before heading to the cafe to eat your substantial bodyweight in bacon butties.

Spot on, this thread turns into the usual stw joke, ride round a trail centre once and you think you know more about bike than Chris Boardman and are a world class course designer. Also you have developed skills in commentating.

Folk on here should take a step back from the keyboard now and then. 🙄
