They need to add a decent grading system with a variety of runs on the technical bits. I have an idea, why not call the really hard bts a black run, then put a red run and blue run in of the less experienced riders. Do you think it will catch on?

The scales I have are pretty good. They don’t deviate and in relative terms are pretty accurate, as my weight has reduced my bf has reduced by the appropriate amount.

A girl I know did this to her boyfriend when they bought their first flat together. She’d found this stripy carpet that she knew wouldn’t be to her OH”s taste, so she started off saying she wanted to put it on the floor AND the ceiling

So what did she end up with, magnolia. ❓ ❓

No, the debate is what you consider to be a regular cyclist, which is far removed from someone who can go out and average 20mph on a ride, this seems to be something your clearly understand as do most, which leaves some to deduce that you are just willy waving by saying “I need an 11tooth top gear and if you don’t the you are a **********”

I was explaining to my kids the importance of looking after your body in Mc D’s over a coke.

I don’t drink coke, but partial to a hot apple pie and cream egg mcflurry.

If he is from the lakes then he should have a look at wheelbase, great shop and they will be selling some 2012 bikes cheap to make way for new stock.

Sorry to hear that, but how did you manage to let 3 bike be stolen, after the second you must have had second thoughts.

It does seem a bit of a shame, given what we knw about the issues with smoking.

I would like to think it was a hoax, it really does not send out the right signals to young Olympians.

I don’t think anyone on his forum would happily give their children a ciggy, not good.

Given that I can’t run the length of a bus, is running in the evening a good substitute for some winter training when the nights draw in.

At best I will get 1 ride a week done after October,

So if you are racing or in a peloton or sprinting to the final stage or the tdf then 11 bottom gear.

Everyone else would be more than able to have something a bit lower.

I find it amusing you cant see that for the majority an 11 tooth top gear would be very underused.

It does start to look a bit like willy waving but I will give you the benefit of the doubt.

Granted there is no need to compromise. I just prefer to go with a 12-27 and have the extra gear in the middle where I will mostly use it.

Thisisnotaspoon, I’m not even wasting my time.

What about the aero ones, saves at least 1watt when riding. 😀

I rode 70 miles last sat in 4hrs.

    I don’t think I could even run 2 miles.

So for me running is hard, much much harder than riding. Not just physically but I get very bored running.

All to do with the bike supporting my stupidly massive weight. If I was 3 stone lighter it might be a bit different.

Interesting, I have a really nice steel frame lovely cut out lugs, but paint is a bit tired. Have a new race bike now that fits slightly better, old frame 54cm

It has tange tubing. Anyone know what these frames are worth, would it be worth getting it resprayed a neutral colour or just try and sel as is.

It’s currently pearl fluorescent pink. Yes those crazy 80’s.

too, or is the somewhat outdated idea of ‘male provider’ alive and well?

Yes cause society is just working so well over the past 30 years with both parents working and children being brought up by cbbc.

! I appreciate that people do spin more than others but even so a 50/12 is quite “spinny”

I have heard it all now, lols.

You can easily tune a 50/12 at 30 mph. This is not about big down hill and oh I can turn the pedals while descending the alps, yes we can all do that. It’s about the correct gearing for the flat, clearly njee is a good rider, anyone who can push 30 mph for miles on the flat is.

On a down hll there is very little benefit in pedalling above 40 mph, you are better getting into a decent aero position.

As usual everyone jumps up to prove that they are hard as ****, for the majority it’s better to run out of gears on a decent not a climb. That’s not a controversial statement, but no doubt the stw world will do there best to make it out as one. 🙄

Cycle paths round our way have been hijacked by dog walkers, so gods running off the lead and shed loads of dog poo everywhere makes using them a nightmare.

It’s funny the looks you get from walkers and doggers as you pass as if you should not be there, dispute the paths being purpose built for cycling round the town.

Also a special mention to women push prams 2 abreast leving about 50mm to get past, thanks girls.

Strangely in days of yore it was a bit tougher with 52/42s turning 21 max on the freewheel.

Lols that’s what was on my first race bike, 42×21 is just bonkers. Saying that I was 5 stone lighter back then.

Another chain ring is the best option with then get a good lower gear plus something a bit higher, compact 50-34. Might be quite expensive.

Should have bought the 200 then. Haven’t read the manual yet.

Yes the 200 is all you need, maybe a wee backup map just in case, especially round Mabie, it gets a bit wild there 😀

Not sure what luck has do do with anything.

Show me 100 riders and you would pick out 1 who could use a 12 sprocket the other 99 are delusional.

Not really much benefit to pedal at 40

It always makes more sense to err on the side of lower gears, that here you make up more time, well it was when I raced and time trialed.

Wrong, 50×14 is probably enough for most. 50×12 if you are a cat1 rider. 50×11 is just for pub talk.

Really? 50/14 at 90rpm is only 25mph, I’d certainly not want to be in top gear at that point and starting to spin! Up to 30 is nice for those times when you’ve got a tailwind!

    Yes really!

As for top end, 50/11 is more than enough for everyone except Cav.
