A frankly pathetic 2892 miles this march, my lowest monthly mileage since 1952. Not sure I want to keep cycling doing such low miles.

Probably not many open Monday either

Thinking the same for tomorrow, already done 150miles this week on the road bike, got another 50 lined up for tomorrow but the mtb is looking at me in a seductive manner.

Maybe it’s time to give her a ride.

I wish I was as good as some of you guys who can tell the difference 100g makes on a wheel. What’s it like being so sensitive.

You must go like a train up the hills after a crap.

The Yamaha lower end kits i think have slightly better sounds. But for me in the higherr end kits the Roland are much more playable with the mesh heads. And the ability to connect midi and other pads like my SPD-30. Also connection to PC for control of screens.

There are others on the markt now, especially at the lower end, im sure they should have moved the game on, it was 5 years ago i bought mine things move fast in this area.

The main things you need to do is get him sitting at the kit properly and get him holding the sticks properly, there are loads of tuition books and videos to check.

Buy a pair of sticks, a single practice pad and a book of rudiments. Tell him you’ll buy him a kit once he can play all the patterns in the book. Like this.

    Rubbish.

    Weight, aero…………….

Face facts it’s all about looks, if you like deep section then go for it, if not get a nice set of alloy rid lie fulcrum racing 3 for similar money, or better still get Avicenna aksims for less money but 99.9% of the performance.

To get back on topic, I concur with the HD1, it’s a great wee introduction to electronic kits. Very easy to set up and easy to move around if you are going to gig.

I have semi retired from drumming, have sold all my acoustic gear but I still keep a Roldan TD-12 in the house, I very occasionally play and use it to tutor, which its simply brilliant.

It took me 20 years before I actually played an electronic kit, but once I had I was very surprised. I always used to have some electronic drums in my set up.

Go for it, and worse case if he gives up then just stick it on eBay, they fetch good money second hand.

I run an 8 speed on my winter bike, runs very well very little maintainance. Run an 18 x 44 set up ant it’s just about ok. If riding in a group can run out of revs at the top end when the pace increases.

Who will qualify for a Scots passport?
Will it just be council tax payers? I can’t think of a definitive way of doing it.

Anything above 6″ of actual snowfall and its like constantly riding uphill, last time I went out a few weeks ago in the snow the bike stopped on a downhill that I usually would be going down at over 20mph.

It’s fun but hard work, 5miles in deep snow knackers me that for sure.

Vote on self determination, nothing more, it’s not difficult. I refer to my previous post.

    stevewhyte

It’s not too bad further along the solway, the drifts are only about 4 feet, with about 8″ of actual snow.

Might even get the bike out later on, if the wind calms down to a light hurricane.

There should be a ban on 26″ riders starting these threads.

    GET OVER IT.

The point is, how far do you take it? You could split Scotland further.
You could – equally, it’s been said that quite a lot of the North-East of England would quite like to be on our side of the border.

And in all seriousness we would welcome them with open arms as this is not a personal vendetta against the English people, it never has been, it’s such a shame that many seem to think it is.

The vote is for independence, not a vote to make us better off, or to stick the finger up at Westminster, it’s simply so we can determine our own affairs.

What more information do you need exactly?

Are you one of those who will only break free as long as it can be proved you will be better off in every area?

That’s just not going to happen and you are naive to think it will.

A yes vote is going to take courage for most of us, as its a leap of faith in our own ability to self govern. Some simple are unable to do this, well they will vote no, others will jump and vote yes. On the 19 sep 2014 we will know who these people are.

    stevewhyte

The simple point is being missed by most on here as usual.

The question is do we want to be an independent nation?

It’s a simple yes or no answer.

Once we answer that, then we move on with all that it entails. Europe, economy, education, military etc. it’s all then gets worked out.

the only people who care about wheel size are people who ride 26″.

    POSTED 27 MINUTES AGO # REPORT-POST

That’s so true, 26 er riders are forever moaning about why 29″ wheels are from the devil and should be banned.

    Get over it.

I do feel a bit sorry for many down south, when we go what’s it going to be like?

Sorry to everyone in England who wants Scotland to stay part of the union, but it’s time to go

I use one, its very secure and very quick and easy to use.

It’s a it tight to have 3 bikes on, I usually just transport 2 and not use the middle loops.

The rubber feet do mark the paint work, especially if you don’t tighten te straps down properly.

Great rack and the customer service fro saris is second to none.

1100 feet of climb in a 10 mile rides is dam hilly. Anything close to 100 feet of climb per mile I consider a very hilly ride.

Thought Hamilton had a good 6N, a good spoiler of lineout, and a bit of an enforcer on the pitch too.

Njee20 as usual have something useless to say.

And no I’m not fit, bt I would say I’m a cyclist and not just a bike owner, get the difference.

I can stay in the middle group on club rides, get dropped on long climbs and drop them on long descents. But I’m well off what the faster guys can do, and none of them are cat 1 or 2 riders either.

So no I’m not fit, am 25 lbs overweight and have a long way to go.

The fact is on a flat course they is not as big a difference in speed between bikes as some folk would like to think.
