Don’t have time to pen a proper response now, will check back in a few weeks when I’m on holiday.

To be fair the speed limit is 60 on the road. :D

Thanks to those with constructive comments.

For the record I’m regarded as a pretty good bike handler. Ride over 200 miles a week race and time trial on a weekly basis. Was travelling at 52mph when I hit the aforementioned pothole after swerving to avoid the other 3 in the middle of the road. Not that I have to justify myself to numpties that probably couldn’t fix a puncture with a tube of tyre foam.

The road in question has been in that contrition for over a year according to locals who I spoke to, as far as I’m concerned the LA has a duty of care to provide a road surface that is suitable for all road users. End of.

Cheers. After chatting to others I know that people have been complaining about the road for months and have informed the council.

It’s all a pain, but the wheels were £500 and would quite like them replaced.

I guess I need to get letter writing collect information from the council.

Do I just present the info to the insurer or go to small claims court.

Jokes really lose their magic when you have to explain them don’t ya think?
It didn’t come across as a Joke to be honest.

    Which is why I asked.

Only to you, the rest of us got it and laughed.

Ae and mabie can be done easy in the same day. Deffo do them, Ae is fab, my favourite trail. Mabie is nice but have done it load. There is a wealth if other trails around and in mabie forest but you would need someone to light the way.

Kirroughtree is nice but a fair drive, but I would rather go there than glentress.

The big country at glentrool is really lovely, not a singletrack fest but it’s such a nice ride on the right day.

The glentrool blue is really nice.

Don’t iss the cafe at Ae it’s just re opened and the guys who are running it are brill.

Dalbeattie is not my favourite but don’t let that put you off, you may love it.

Don’t rush about trying to fit in a million things, chill and do some riding don’t spend hrs in your car.

There are loads of natural trails around Dumfries that are great. Up to lowther from thornhill is a great ride.

    Enjoy.

I just got my daughter a Beinn 20 large, she is 7 1/2 right now. It does not look big in fact it looks slightly small but i think the 24 would just be too much for her. She should get at least 2 years out the 20″.

She has only just learned to ride about 2 months ago so i wanted the lightest bike i could get, the Beinn 20″ fits the bill.

Why the heck would I show support for someone who gets paid a bloody good wage for the work that they do and gets a frankly obscene amount of holidays.

Yes I support the fact that you want yet more money and fatter pensions. Why not take an extra day off and I’ll use up one of my precious 25 days annual leave to cover for you.

1892 just phoned, it wants its argument back.

Well my star trails finally gave up the ghost today.

Again drive side failure, broken at the end of the spindle on the thread.

LBS sending it back tomorrow, see what happens.

I would think sell as a whole, non of the parts are that special on their own but as a complete bikes its great.

I think you will get a bit more than £100 for it.

I would have thought £300 maybe a tad more to the right buyer.

There are very few supply teachers, but then who would do that job for £60 a day.

Every perminant ft primary post has more than enough applicants, some posts have well over 100 going for it. Its a numbers game.

As for Mike Russell, yes whatever .

No, they were just ignorant, it happens all the time. Chat to the guys from the FC. Its a shame.

I agree they could do with the card machines like they have up at Glentress, then no excuses really.

The reality is there are loads of primary teachers out there, (and PE secondary) they dont need to bend the rules for your wife. Just the way it is.

Oh and the GTCS is an extention of the Scottish Government. They are far removed from independant, if they were they would fight for teachers in a similar manner that the GMC does for doctors.

Anyone with £3k+ to spend on a bike really should know what they want, else they probably should just spend £600 on one at Halfords.

Easy if you train for it, but you will have to train for it.

Just get lots of base miles in during the summer, and plenty of interval training in the winter on the turbo.

Try and get used to riding every day.

Dalbeattie will be the worse for the rocks, mabie will be fine.

Not really any issues with mud.

You should try Ae, it’s the best of the lot…………

In a few years time Scotland will be independant and England will be run by ukip, oh how well will laugh up here.

The rise of ukip is the best thing for Scottish independence, wouldn’t be surprised if more and more English counties wanted to join Scotland to escape the barmy army of ukip.

Conti Grand Prix, I have the 24mm ones and they are great tyres. Cheap too.

I seriously think that if Scotland does get independence there should be a campaign to allow the North of England to become part of it (if you’ll have us). I know it will never happen but I would say we have a lot more in common with Scotland than with the south east of England/London.

I think you will find anyone north of the border would welcome any part of Northern England to join up. Make the border a line just north of Blackpool (sorry ) across to Hornsea.

Now that sounds good to me. All the best bits of the UK in one new country, i dont know why the SNP doesnt through that one out there.

I made nothing, but was predicting it from 2004. I worked in the construction industry and decided to change jobs to try and get into a more secure career.

Also saw it about 3 months before the big crash as was trying to re jig a couple of credit cards to a loan and I was finding it impossible to get a load, which 3 years earlier I could get 5 loads a day for a month. It’s was madness I back in 2001-2006

Can’t really see them giving much benefit on the road compared to mtb. The really benefit on the mtb is running at low pressure, something you don’t do on the road.

Most road tyres now are light and very puncture resistant, I have only had 1 puncture in over 4000 miles of riding over the past 2 years so I’m not worried by that.

Performance benefits are just about impossible to calculate.

    In that case I’m out.
