Cheers for all the responses guys, some really usefull information (on STW what the hell is going on 8O  )

All I can do is try and if it works out I’ll let everyone know, by the sounds of it though I should be fine. I think the only stumbling block may be my pump but we’ll see.

+1 for the pitch I was selling mine but apparently I was asking to much so its no longer up for sale :D  but if you hunt around you can probably find a secondhand comp for just under a grand. Use the remaining money on a new set of wheels, 36’s and a coil shock and it’ll storm anything!!!

My wife is a midget and originally got a boardman fi in small and hated it found the geometry really odd and sketchy lucky for her the rear drive side drop out cracked and so she got to replace it with an fs team in small which fitted far better! I know it’ll ruin the surprise but def get your wife to try one or get halfords to ok a return if the size is off.

Dont waste your money just buy a set of Rev’s mate by the time you buy the MoCo damper, sort the rebound damper and convert to air you’ll prob have spent a pretty penny. I paid £80 for the just the MoCo damper to give you an idea.

    HTH

EDIT Loco’s response was far better than mine :|

So after all this should I get new wheels then :? I’m a little confused!

    Renton nice bike :-)

Renton did you ride your pitch with the standard wheels I’d be interested in a comparison.

Rickon cheers for that, I do ride Aston now and then so was thinking flows over crests. I was also thinking going 1×10 to shave a little more off.

Cheapest I found it new was £1200 plus that was with Rockshox Ario and undamped sektors so I thought what I was asking was fair but obviously not. Never mind would probably regret it once I had sold it anyway

James theres a fair few factors to consider, what and where are you riding? Me suggesting a swampthing for greasy rocks is going to end in disaster like wise suggesting a rubber queen for deep gloopy mud isnt going to work either!

Also what type of riding do you do? XC, DH etc etc.

Generally I run a 2.3 front and rear but if your riding in muddy conditions you my want to run a 2.1 as it will cut through the mud easier, if you have little tyre clearance again you may want to keep the 2.1’s to stop mud building up around the chainstays and fork.

Me personally Im running a swampthing 60a at the rear and Minion DHf super tacky on the front which works for my local area which is the chilterns and swinley (so mud and roots)

Without wishing to sound too sensible getting hammered isnt probably the best way to go (unless of course you plan on getting into a situation which requires you slapping her round the chops with your willy porno style.)

If you havent spoken to her in 7 years (as other have said) you’ll probably be amazed at how her opinions have changed and all those things you were attracted to have disappered. I remember meeting an ex at a party once, she proceeded to tell me about how much coke she could snort in one night, needless to say I felt I made the right decision.

Go, have a few (but remember the point above), have a chat with her then find your mates, at the end of the day if its all too much feign illness and get out of there.

What LoCo said the swampthings are draggy enough sod the wet scream for anything other than pure down hill.

Wasnt that on ebay  nice bike.

Adding the moco damper is easy just unscrew the top cap from the right leg, pour out the oil, measure the new 5w oil (amount is on the sram website), pour oil in, screw in moco damper job done :D

Couple of options if you don’t mind the weight fit 36’s / Lyriks if your trying to keep the weight down go for Rev’s or if you really want to drop some weight go for 32’s with 15mm Maxel and a new wheel set.

Or you could do what I’ve done and upgrade the coil sektors with the moco unit from a reba/rev makes a hell of a difference with lockout and floodgate control. Also I’m assuming you have a comp if so swap out the rockshox rear shock and fit a fox unit (I’ve got an RP23 XV) improves the backend remarkably :D

Edit, agree with poddy the Bitch really is designed for the more burly setup hence why im thinking of selling mine

Cant do pics at the mo as the bike is still at halfrauds I’ll see if I can pop past and get one later (I want to know what they say about the travel)

Re the ramp up I’m not in the loop regarding suspension designs but this was up there with the reason why It may not be achieveing full travel. But I played with it a lot with different pressures and regardless if how much sag I ran (even upto 50%) it only seems to use a small amount of travel. At 25% sag It would barely use 50% of the avaialble travel regardless of hit size.

I’ve also done the let the air out test and yes you can achieve full travel but the rebound speed doesnt seem to differ regardles of what speed its set on which is odd (this is the same with 20psi in the chamber)

I personally think the shock is either knackered or the seals are too tight.

@retro Im hoping that I shouldnt have to buy shock parts for a bike thats no more than 2 months old with about 30hrs riding time.

@Owen have you got a boardman if so is it the older style design or the new fangled one?

Insurance for that much damage oddly enough this happened to me only the other week. Lady went into the back of me but the damage was minimal the tiniest crease in the boot floor but as the cars only worth a grand I knew they would right it off if I claimed so left it.

Yours sounds a lot worse and I’m sorry I would be reluctant to get the work done unless I had all of the money up front for the work and to cover a rental.

How comes you dont want to park at the lookout? I know some people park in coral reef but there have been issues with cars being broken into.

Workmen on the M1 acually working!!!!

When I used to ride motorbikes I had a a habit of riding a bit quick and one day while proceeding to a very important appointment at a rate of knots I was a bit surprised to be overtaken by someone on an R1. Now I was in triple figures with the numbers 3 & 5 in the read out so I was a bit surprised but the the thing that got me was the fact the guys helmet wasnt strapped on and he had lifted it up a little so that the dog end could hang out of his mouth 8O How long he lived for is anyones guess!?

Ive got a 2011 Spesh Pitch I would consider selling does everything you want by the sounds of it 150mm front and back and would easily take a 160mm front fork.

A member of the public who is a complete muppet decided to wind me up by complaining about nothing any sane ordinary person would complain about resulting in a “bit of a rant”

I usually try to avoid ranting on public forums but I let the **** get the better of me. Unfortunately the way my jobs going you may see more ranting in the near future!

To those that got to witness the spectacle I’m glad I provided some amusement this morning, notes have been taken and I’ll endeavour to come across more incoherent with less structure.

Thanks for the responses guys i’ve stuck a super tacky minion on the front for her but she’s finding a lot of slip at the rear and I saw the medusa so thought it might be worth it.

Bit more volume than the Mud X but not so much that it’ll clog up, just dont fancy wasting her money hence the request for advice

See I’m riding a spesh Pitch and in all honesty I would swap it out for something with less travel for the UK despite riding just about anything , hell I’ll swap you your moondraker if you like

Think if I was looking for a 160mm travel bike now tho the SB66 would be high on my list failing that a nukeproof mega.

Surely the weight savings would be minimal over long or short cage?

I thought the reason was all down to gearing, what you runing single double or triple?

Swinley, great place and def underated imho sure its not the peaks or full blown dedicated trail centre but if you know where to look there’s some great bits of fun singletrack (and if you know where to go you can keep away from the crowds too  )

Would love to see more trails built in the forest and would be happy to help if diggers are in short supply
