Considering the amount of fine grit up there I wouldnt fancy owning a full bouncer, in fact I’ve never felt more at home riding in the peaks and my ht was amazing, I felt like I fitted in and everything :D

Camber is nice but if I was going for a spesh it would be a stumpy evo extra £500 notes but well worth it. Failing that, would prob buy a transition bandit frame, save myself £700 notes and move all the bits from my ht on to it :) awesome bikes from what I’ve seen

Edit yes I know neither are really xc, more ‘trail’ but either way you’ll have loads of fun on em!

Hey guys cheers for the responses

It seems like a commonish issue and although I’m desperate to go riding I also want to get back to climbing as soon as so I’m reluctant to do anything that will exasperate the situation. Annoying thing is I’ve got a powerball but the mrs moans its too noisy so I stopped using it.

Martin thats a great article seems very much common sense and Ive seen some of those exercises suggested before.

I’ve booked a physio appointment for Wednesday morning so will see what they say at £40 notes for a half hour session and it being self funded, I’m hoping they will diagnose and provide some stretches / exercises.

Hopefully it’ll get sorted but looks like I’m not going to be climbing for weeks just hope I can go riding :(

Well basic rule is if it really hurts you should stop for a bit.

Agreed, thing is I rode on saturday did a small local loop and felt fine, its as a result of climbing and campusing the holds on a route.

Maybe if a lay off for a week I’ll be fine come friday.

Join the w*****s elbow club. I have had it for a month now but have continued to ride without any pain.

Pouring a cup of tea though is a different story…….

Left arm init’ and I’m a righty

Are you doing any stretches / rehab work etc to try and recover and were you prescribed any anti inflammatory drugs?

Gutted though as I haven’t been climbing for very long and was progressing really well oh well looks like I’ll be buying a new bike then as I’ll need more travel and full suspension in order to alleviate the pain :P

FSA by any chance? Personally I’d leave it as 2×9 and look at new cranks if it really bothers you

    stevepitch
    Free Member

Sorry to say I wouldn’t bother, 27 tooth ring up front will leave you madly spinning away on anything remotely down and 42 tooth will leave you (well would leave me) pushing up anything remotely up. Can you not just order a 32 or 34 tooth ring to replace the two?

I’m massively unfit and run a 32 up front with a 10 speed 12:36 out back (I think) and that seems bout right for most riding around Surrey hills, swinley and the peaks.

    Is 2×9 really that bad??

Visit a photography forum like talk photography (sure there’s nowt wrong with the advice above but that’s where I would be heading)

Go into a shop have a play see what feels ‘right’ in your hands.

Bugger off and do some more research ask more q’s

    Then take the plunge.

    Good luck it’s addictive :)

single flow rebound circuit? That’s just throwing words together.
Rockshox have R, RL, RLT or RC2C dampers. All of which are housed in twin piston assemblies that are commonly referred to as cartridge dampers. (even though they are technicly not cartridge dampers.)
The rebound phase in all of these forks is preceded by a compression stroke of the same piston assembly. So by definition it’s a dual flow assembly not a circuit.
As the oil isn’t circulated in a cart or TPC and it remains static while the piston moves through it, it’s not a circuit.
So to summarise, you’re talking bollocks mate.

You a bit of ****? So what if someone has the terminology slightly wrong there’s no need to be an arse about it, just highlights that you come across as some no it all arrogant individual

To the op revs are great but tbh the sektors I had that proceeded them were fine for general riding and coped with the peaks to Swinley and everything inbetween.

Did you need to swap the hoses on the lever. If so was it pretty straightforward?

    Yes and Yes.

I’m mechanically inept and I was able to do it :D

How do you know this is the first instance of this dog attacking someone? The owner could have already recieved a warning regarding the behaviour of dog, If its ‘having a go’ while on the lead really its only a matter of time before it does some poor soul real damage.

Report it, its the sensible thing to do.

I cant see it being that bad tbh, rode out of nettlebed the other weekend and it was so dry it was mad plus we havent exactly had loads and loads of rain so would have thought it would be fine.

+100 for Swinley, particularly the jump gulley and the small section on baby maker. I asked a couple
Kids to pick up their crap they had just dropped and was told “why should I, other people do it” when I politely explained that it’ll end up with the gulley being closed bulldozed banned or whatever i was told “there’s plenty of other places to jump, init”

    Shame really :(

Wouldn’t it have been better to wait ’til you’d moved?

Probably but I kitesurf too and want a new kite seemed a good idea to kill two birds with one stone!

…I do a lot of driving.*

Fair do’s I used to do loads of driving for surfing and tbh now it’s not for me the odd trip rocks but I dont want to be doing it every weekend.

I’ve just taken my Pitch apart after thinking Bristol and my regular riding spots were to flat.
It just felt wasted 80% of the time.
Now on a Bfe so will see
My old 456 wound down to 100mm travel was ok on the flat.IMHO

This is kinda where I’m at just feel a bit, for want of a better phrase, over biked and that I’m only using the bike to its potential 10% of the time. Don’t get me wrong chuffing amazing bike will be very sad to see it go

If its really flat (Norfolk say)

Er its really flat  hence the reason for dropping the pitch however I’m not there yet and I also plan to visit the folks in the peaks.

Figured the SS would do for now I suppose I can always re-assess once im there

    Bump for the daytime crowd.

A while since I rode 9mm QR forks. Will I notice THAT much difference?

    slainte rob

I cant remember the complete ins and outs of it but there was group test of forks in MBR or MBUK and iirc they reckoned that the differemce between 9mm QR and 15mm bolt through was fairly vast but minimal difference between 15mm and 20mm bolt through.

Take it as you will but magazine tests never lie

edit – Sektors are very good by the way had them on my pitch very underated imho

Swinley is a cracking place for taking the mrs I took and still take my mrs there to teach her single track and help her with her fitness. It does get busy there but if you head over to the crowthorne side you’ll see less people and there is plenty of stuff to use but tbh most people are pretty good with only the odd idiot

Wife just got me a reverb and Ive got to say its great.

    She ordered me

    http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k1170/a53783/reverb-125-seatpost-309-x-380mm-mmx-right-black.html

which is the same as the one you have linked too with 2012 internals and a silver collar just 30 euros cheaper. Just dont forget to buy a bleed kit.

Having just doen this to my pitch I used

    http://www.notubes.com/Rhyno-Lite-Kit-P96.aspx

as the rim on the pitch ’11 wheels is an odd size havent read all of the above but I will say pumping up a 2bliss Eskar was easy as with just a track pump.

One thing if you are having issues is to build up a layer of rim tape which pushes the centre cavity up allowing for easier inflation (but will also make getting the tyre on the rim harder so dont go crazy). I left the original tape and then added one run of stans yellow tape and then the rim strip on top.

No torque wrench. reliance on a cheap / out of adjustment one can lead you to breaking bolts out of a false sense of security.

Good point but lets say you need to tighten up your bottom bracket to 35 – 41 Nm and you use a ‘cheap’ torque that has an accuracy of +/- 10%. If you tighten the Bottom bracket to 38 NM you’ll be tightening the bottom bracket to either 34.2 or 41.8 which must be better then either having the bottom bracket way under the recommended torque specifications or over tightening it and doing damage to your frame.

Interestingly I was taught that allen keys are the respective size in order to allowing for for the correct force to be used and you should use one hand then until the bolt stops moving then ‘nip’ it just a touch more.

I suppose I’m just interested at how many people actually use / own torque wrenches as I’ve toyed with the idea of getting one (and expanding the tool selection) so that I dont have to keep going to the bike shop everytime I need do something like tightening up my cranks or bottom bracket.

lol @ jedi  you’ve helped a little you just dont know it yet!

Its working bang on you know when there are a few niggles (or things you think are niggles) and with all the hype about faulty reverbs and this and that I though I would check.

Tbh Im still getting over the fact the mrs got me the right size and length and well got me one full stop.

    Cheers guys

Not gonna argue that the RR isn’t nice in fact I think they are pretty lush but for the price of the RR you could end up with a pretty special pitch especially if you were to pick one up in the sales.

Edit: Ryan that is a niiiice bike btw
