Report the git, being an employee of a LA I know that we take a very dim view of bad driving and will usually pull the driver in for interview pending witness statements and if neccassary, ban the git.

Saying that though, some authorities don’t give a toss which is a shame :x

You can return it, you know. Don’t be so daft and get swept into the STW buying frenzy.

Bought it before I saw the thread on here and hell I’ve been riding a HT for a while now, I think my promotion at work should be rewarded with a new frame :P

Nothing like a bit of willy waving is there? Is it like car ownership the more bikes the smaller the willy? If it is I’m rocking

Dialled alpine, revs, 1×10, XT brakes and some shitty wheels clad in sticky rubber.

Just a shame the bastard thing hasn’t been ridden for two months :(

Isn’t the typical STW’er also supposed to earn big bucks like 50k+ 100k+???

Regardless – I’m out thank god

Now work out how to fix a finger board to it and do pull ups with two fingers.

Fastest way of doing your finger tendons in that is and a rupture to a finger tendon can be nasty

    stevepitch

If you want a good work out try this

10 x pull ups shoulder width palms facing away
10 x press ups any variety
10 x leg raises (hang from bar slightly engaging shoulders lifting feet to waist height and bak down again)

Rest for 2 minutes then repeat for a total of 10 reps 3 x week

You should be able to complete this in about 45 minutes, and it will give good definition and strength in you upper body after only a couple of months while helping improve your core. It’s by no means the only workout and I combine it with dead lifting and leg exercises but its fun and helps all over conditioning.

Best – getting married to the girl of my dreams

Worst – her dad passing 5 days after the wedding due to lung cancer and us not bring there, still brings a tear to my eye.

Let’s hope 2013 improves, happy new year all

    Beastmaker 1000 Series

Hoping it will help push my climbing grade and produce a grip of death, and it made a nice change from the usual things like pants :D

I’ve got shimano XT’s on my steed and deores on the wife’s bike, bloody fantastic. Used to have avid elixirs, utter tosh. Never had hope so have absolutely no opinion on them but a few mates who I know through my wife’s brothers aunty know a geezer who’s had them and didn’t like them because they didn’t work because his cat licked them while he had his bike upside down changing an inner tube and so because of that I’ve decided to not buy them and feel the need to tell the world that they’re sh1t which they are because my mate said so and cat spit is toxic to humans so watch out.

Alright kids, how do I sign up?

I dont know anyone as I have no friends and havent been for a ride for ages :( but would love to get back out on the steed. I’ll probably be massively under biked  and super slow but I’m up for a laugh and falling off is what I do best.

Is that acceptable criteria to join in?

Was mildly impressed for 5 secs then after the umpteenth time of demonstrating the rear wheel steer I turned it off! Also, he’s clearly a pussy as he walked down the stairs if he had any skillzz he would have bunny hopped his way down

So after 5 pages what the consensus? Are fat people thick or clever? And if I eat and move will I lose weight or stay the same.

Also If I only shop at iceland and buy 5 frozen pizza’s for a £1 and feed them to my kids tonight will my kids lose weight because they get loads of exercise playing xbox connect (it gets them to move so is clearly an excellent form of exercise)

CRC are selling them off for £600ish with the monarch shock so, depending on how scratched etc imho I’d say £350 – £450 but then again I’m shite at valuing stuff.

I ride lotts wood regularly and was there on sunday, despite the horrendous mess the FC left it does indeed seem to be clearing up I normally only ride the outer loop but most of the inner sections are fine (if you like bramble and nettle whipping). Hopefully it’ll be fully cleared as it is a fun loop considering the small space its in.

Didn’t something similar happen in derby city a few years back? Some poor sole was stood at the top of the car park and a few local ‘youths’ were seen to be goading the poor guy.

Shame we live in a society were a minority feel that this behaviour is accetable.

Thanks for all the responses guys its good to get some healthy outside opinion’s on the matter and, more importantly, highlight some issues which maybe get missed.

The fact that he wears a hearing aid should sound a note of caution, he may well be all the things you say, but like above post he may have felt threatened by your actions(laughter) — he may have lots of issues , but whatever the reason he ‘blew his top’ — straw, camels back? maybe??

    this ^

Isn’t it a bit odd that people are recommending you “go on the sick” because a 60+yr old deaf bloke had a go at you in a meeting? Or just me? Obvious course of action is to be big about it, go up to him, apologise for the misunderstanding, offer a handshake and no hard feelings etc. All done. Then get your CV out there.

    And this ^

I think are important, I’m not going to go sick because of some idiot and I’ve been approached by my manager and asked if I want to pursue the matter but based on the above points I’ve decided to leave the matter as it stands. He apparently reiterated to my manager that he dislikes my humour but is willing to apologise which I suppose is fair play to him.

However, and while yes everyone is stressed and excuses can be made, I don’t go around threatening to nut people because I dislike something that is said, and I’ve had a flipping rough year. Oh well we’ll see what happens.

Only other thing I would highlight is

It sounds as though your working with a bunch of people who are fed up with their jobs and are stressed to breaking point themselves, their other behaviour that you mention sounds like a symptom of workers feeling under valued and de-motivated.

The guys I work with are a joke, absolute joke. I’m sorry but when another individual was accused by a mop for taking a back hander (with some pretty good evidence), they were ‘told off’ and that was it, even though they were in their probation period and another individual was caught picking his son up from Brighton during the working day, Brighton’s about 130 miles from where we work :?: They do nothing but take the piss and get away with it, the only reason they are stessed is because their job roles could perhaps change and they’ll actually have to work!!

I suppose for me this is the ‘final straw’ and the kick I need (no pun intended) to start looking for a new job

    stevepitch

Wwaswas would love to jack it in but I’d be shitting bricks about finding another job quick enough and I’m not a vindictive person, I have been asked by the managers if I want to take it further, but I’ve said no as I and everyone else don’t need the extra hassel.

Bigjohn fair comment and I would say in my defence I was smiling and laughing when I said it and those that were sat next to me also were laughing he just went mental. In relation to my reputation I’m known for being hard working and honest but also the type of bloke of likes a laugh. I actually think this individual dislikes me because I challenge his ideas and try to introduce rational thought to otherwise irrational decisions, it’s always been a big issue for him and he often tells me I’m over educated (despite not having a degree on fact nothing more than A levels) The worst thing is only 5 minutes before I was supporting the fact that this particular individual was being treated unfairly and was offering help and support if he needed it.

The whole thing is bonkers and just highlights the crap that is / can be local authority*

*i have been told that it’s only my authority that’s a joke and in fact others are actually ok :)

Trimix I’m in amersham don’t suppose you work for an authority who needs someone who’s a contender system administrator / system designer?

Cheers guys I should probably bunk off but I’ve got too much on so I’m just going to ignore it lucky enough we now work in different offices meaning I don’t have to see the vile individual.

Surfer I was in late this morning, which was really nice actually

You know I wrote a big long story about looking at bike in that shop but frankly can’t be arsed, on a particular day a young lad helped me out and he was great, went back a few months later didn’t ask to borrow tools, threaten or raise my voice ask which bike is ‘bestest’ just made an enquiry re demo and purchase of a bike.

I’ve never met anyone as rude or disinterested in all my life and frankly considering me and the mrs were the only people in there I was gob smacked at the attitude.

Such a shame but hey they’ve survived this long so they must be doing something right

Camber is more xc based bike so imho I would be looking at 20% sag front and rear but really it’s all down to personal pref, would def recommend Loco’s site link above for info on suspension etc.

Most people will say look at the boardman team fs for £1000.

The wife’s got one and it’s ok pretty decent spec despite the rear shock packing up twice, personally I’d be looking at a tidy ht

And moving back to Reading next month.

You’ll fit in great at Swinley! :p

Don’t get me wrong tho, I do miss my pitch and I would love a transition bandit but my alpine handles everything I could ever do and is fun to boot
