HI h4muf how long did it take for things to calm down and what dosage are you on? I realise I’m only on a small dose so find it a bit crazy that its affecting me so quickly. Do you think you will ever come off it?

Hey guys cheers fro the responses its interesting to hear that meds worked for one and not the other.

Aracer, I’ve found the CBT to be a bit naff although its moved from an online self help to a 121 phone call. Interestingly the first session is actually what triggered one of my mood swings. I forgot to pick up the homework drove half way to work then had to turn around to go home and pick it up as I felt guilty for not having it. Ended up flipping out and nearly breaking my hand! That was a shit morning. I’m going to persevere with it though as I want to get better and realise I can’t carry on like I am. I think you’re right about the forum along the lines of people are willing to talk about things which I guess is why I posted.

enfht er I guess so, I was in an RTA that nearly killed me but that was last August, in my head I should be over it by now although I’ve just been told that I need to have more surgery to sort my broken leg which is a bugger.

    I don’t an mtb or ride……..why?

Nearly died 11 months ago and still have a broken leg. Sold my bike but would genuinely give anything to be able to ride again. Hopefully soon

I just come here because you’re all nuts

What job is it, can I apply ;)

I’ve recently asked a similar -ish question and got some amazing replies would recommend a read. All I would say is go for it, life is incredibly short and you may not be here tomorrow so why not enjoy today.

    Hi guys

Cheers for all the responses its pretty reassuring to know that other people have all taken stock at some point and looked to do something new. Means a lot to me to read .

P-Jay finances are a real consideration, I earn OK money and I appreciate that my current job gives some stability but as all things LG, redundancy is only a dodgy manager away as they look to find savings because a local Cllr has decided to spend money the wrong way! Me and wife are planning on having kids at some point as well, and do I want to go through the pain of dropping 15-20k off my salary when I need to be supporting them. So I need to plan effectively to ensure that when I do make a change we are going to be ok.

Injuries wise, I’ve never really thought about how they will affect me in the future but I refuse to let them dictate who I am and oddly, after I wrote this post I called a mate and went for a boulder! It might have only been a V1 but it was awesome to be back doing something I enjoy.

Wiksey I’ve actually looked at tradeskills4u and was looking at their silver domestic installer course. What course did you do and how did you find it?

Just so I’m clear I don’t expect to do a course and magically become an electrician. Its easy to look at a job from the outside and go “that doesn’t look too hard, I could do that” when actually its the subtleties and long learned skill that mean the difference between a good job and a bad one.

Hora I have and am still getting support which has itself identified that I should look to change my job. Its interesting what you can endure day to day when you have the escape of a bike or a climb but when this is removed its amazing the impact it can have. In reality though, and as much as I hate to say it, perhaps my accident was a blessing in disguise as its helped me to re-evaluate my life and appreciate things more. (don’t get me wrong I can think of a million things I would have rather’d happen :) )

Uncle Ken needs to be taken with a huge piece of salt Imho.

Re the 70-200 I paid £650 from Amazon, would have loved the Nikon f4 or even the f2.8 but roughly at £1000 & £1500 for them it’s hard to justify unless your either a pro or a super enthused amateur

+1 for the sigma 17-50 f2.8 although the Tamron is meant to be very good.

I’ve also got the sigma 70-200 f2.8 and it’s bloody fantastic imho, not sure if the link will work as on my mobile but the lens is pretty sharp. Only problem I have is due to my personal circumstances o find it difficult walking around with it.

Having recently fractured my c6 I’d say it depends entirely on what you have actually done. (Sorry haven’t read the whole thread).

But for ref I fractured my c6 and snapped a piece of bone off that has lodged itself in the nerve canal for the right hand side of my body. I also pushed my c6 & c5 out alignment. I was in a hard collar for three months and came out of it in December / Jan. I’ve been advised that I could have surgery to sort out the clicking / pain however I was told there is a 1 in 1000 chance I’ll walk in but not out. I’ve started doing light exercise although that largely because my legs still knackered and I still get pain doing certain things, looking down at an iPad can be hell! I’ve been to,d I need to be careful when / if I return to climbing riding as a large impact could have serious consequences.

Rest up and once out of the collar try to get a decent physio who specialises in neurology and neck injuries as you’ll get a much better response to ensuring you build up the strength etc.

As this document is not retrospective many existing buildings may not conform to current regulations. To reduce the risk of accidents you should attempt to bring older stairs up to current standards, when the opportunity presents itself.

Quoting specific sections of the HSE website to justify your greedy intent isn’t the way to go.

On a serious note tho if you just want the steps fixed and genuinely don’t want any money (despite your original money grabbing op) I would do the following.

Check with the local authority / land registry who definitely owns the steps it may not be who your think it is despite how it looks. If it is tescos (or another business) get all the relevant details about the store, the managers name who it was reported to date times weather conditions when the accident happens. etc and write to head office, if it’s the local authority contact them and ask who deals with h&s then write to them as above as they will have a team who deals with it. Include in the letter any information from the doctor about the damage sustained (you did go to the doctor right) photos from the day proving weather conditions witness reports etc. If after all of that some one qualified in h&s tells you to do one, go and follow your blood sucking friends advice and go to a nwnf lawyer but be prepared to go to hell as that’s where you’re going to end up based on just that one photo.

The odd thing is if I lived closer I would come and assess these steps for free as I strongly believe it’s this type of claim culture that is ruining h&s.

Will follow this thread, cant afford a career break (as much as I would like one I dont think the wife would be too keen) but im currently looking into a complete career change as I find my current role, well, crap frankly.

The biggest difficulty will be the pay cut I’m going to have to take as I’m planning on retraining (and have no formal qulaifications) as a building surveyor. so not only am I planning on moving jobs Im also looking at alternate means of earning additonal money either through part time work or pimping ones self :D.

If anything lifes too short to spend it wishing you had done somehting, (which Im realy guilty of) so go do what makes you uhappy.

Having just started working in Maidenhead the cynical side of me woudl say don’t move, stay in Bristol!!!!

If it’s a given it then comes down to cost as it is a lot more expensive to live round here. I’m on the edges of high Wycombe and it can take me over an hour to get to work in the morning (16 miles) which oddly enough I’m not enjoying. i can ride from my doorstep into the chilterns (sort of) which is nice but as above when it’s wet it’s horrible.

Stokenchurch is a similar distance but even closer to the chilterns (see above) prices are reasonable as well.

If it wasn’t for other commitments I would probably look at Bracknell and aim to be as close to Swinley as possible costs are reasonable and the commute is around 40 minutes (or so a colleague reckons)

Xc weather or windguru are both excellent places for accurate wind forecasts. In fact, lots of other site and apps base their data on windguru it’s that good.

If you’re talking about an xbox one I personally would go new, the techs new and you never know what issues May raise their heads as the mobo’s wear in / break. If you’re looking at a 360 you would be fine with a second hand one they are well developed and built and any issues are truly ironed out.

Go as big a hard drive as possible games are taking up way more space than they ever used too so you can quickly much space.

If I was looking at a new console I would consider the extra cash on the xbox one its new tech and if you do play it ever you know it will still be current in 3/4 years, sort of.

Didn’t get into a fight but got what I thought was a good deal, got an exposure joystick (mk8) for £79 plus I had £15 in the paypal account which I had completely forgotten about, so it only cost my £64. I’m happy :)

Did go into pc world as was amazed at the tat that people seemed to be buying ‘just because’ it had a reduced label on it. Something which wasn’t a surprise all the things I wanted to buy, like a new dyson Hoover, where still as expensive as ever!!! Who spends £400 on a Hoover I could get a reverb or two for that!

Haven’t read the whole thread as I’m getting dizzy with the moral high ground rubbish but looking at that pic, and this is a genuine q, is that wing not an mot failure due to bits sticking out which may cause harm to ped’s. If not a failure at least an advisory. :?:

Haven’t read any of the above so apologies if anything I say is a repeat but I went from an alpine which I truly loved and had it doing everything from Swinley to the peaks to Forest of Dean to a BFE which didn’t quite do it for me for some reason. I’ve had a year off and I’m now on a bird zero which im really enjoying and finding it ticks all the boxes plus it’s 650b + green :D

I think if if was styling with 26″ I’d look at a alpine again but try the size up and run shorter forks and stem as they just seem to work.

    Hi guys

Forgive the thread hijack but I’m literally in the process of trying to work out what to do with sky and our tv. My q for those above is how have you plugged you freesat boxes in, do they just connect to the old satellite dish feed? The reason for asking is we don’t have an aerial (long story) and if I went down the route of getting a new aerial fitted and bought a free view box I may as we’ll stay with sky on the basic package.

Thing is sky’s shite we barely watch anything that’s not on the main channels so ditching it would be great. Other issue is our broadband is terrible and there’s no option of fibre (living outside London’s remote you know) so can’t don’t rely want to rely on it for streaming.

    Cheers

Feel for you i really do, it is technically fly tipped but as its private and unsecured councils won’t touch. It’s costs enough to tidy up after the scum who do this in the country side without dealing with private land / matters unfortunately.

I would suggest a massive piece of tarp in the back of your car load the bags fold/tie up get to the dump as quick as possible and unload the whole lot.

I would also suggest camping out gun in hand ready for the next lot of waste until said skip has been removed.

No way pedro the impending doom would be unstoppable, think riding with bits of bike falling off like a bad cartoon movie. I suggest riding it around your living room, it’s the only way to be sure……*

*this probably won’t happen just take a small multi tool and ensure key point like crank and b/b are torqued sufficiently :D

    Look about right.

There should be a bolt / support for the top of the shock through the frame and then again for the connection to the link plate. Then the same again for the rear stays to the linkage plate and the the linkage to the frame.

    Does that make sense???

    And £350k isn’t silly for a 2 bed house 8O

Was going to suggest some far fetched option to live further out near rad gnar territory for cheaper house and weekend sports car then commute in by train but it may not be too your taste.
