I saw the van in plenty of time and thought I was going slow enough. Surely if they have clocked you doing 61mph the leeway comes in after this. If they had clocked me at 66mph I’d have thought they’d just charge me at that.

Thats what I thought. As I said its an A road and I’m pretty sure its a 60mph limit. Certainly not the kind of road where 61mph is dangerous.

My mate got one about seven years ago. The frame cracked at the head tube/down tube. It was replaced however the replacement hasn’t been that great. Paint quality has been poor, water bottles on the seat tube wore a hole in the down tube and then the threads for said bottle bosses fell out of the frame. Not sure the quality is maybe as good as it was before TREK bought them. Of course it could just have been a rogue but thats quite a lot of issues for a top quality frame.

At the moment I just have the notice of intended prosecution. I can’t find an offence code. It was on the A703 Leadburn Straight, don’t think its less than 60mph.

Trailfairies are out tomorrow finishing of alterations to the Pie Run, anybody wanting to help would be more than welcome, or a simple thank you as you pass will do. The Pie Run was built almost entirely by the TF’s, not a lot of people know that!

Red to the end of Spooky Wood then the Blue to take you onto the fire road and turn left to go up to Deliverance. Once you get to what was Ewok village keep a lookout for some steep natural stuff that drops down from the fire roads. These start just along from the entrance to Double XX.

That corner was reshaped so instead of going straight and turning late into the roots you go slightyly to the right and then turn left. A subtle change but should make it a bit but not too much easier. There has been a lot of wear and tear this winter, especially Magic Mushroom so we’ve been concentrating on that recently.

Last WED night, thats right, night, we started work on opening up the run in to one of the rootier sections so it could be approached a bit more head on. I think with use and because it hasn’t been dry for months its been so slippy that it was very tricky to ride, especially for a red graded trail. I’m presuming Mr W has gotten it finished as we ran out of time last week or its dried out a bit and thats why its easier. Have a look at http://www.glentresstrailfairies.org for pics of what we may be wrongly claiming as the countries first proper floodlit trailbuilding session. Check out the cakes! Cheers Mrs L.

I work for a couple of people who use or have used Green Thumb and they’ve either made the grass worse or made no difference. They also haven’t come when they’re supposed to or tried to do jobs when conditions aren’t right. I bet the people doing the work only get minimal training, but I could be wrong. I think they’re really cheap as they buy chemicals in bulk and do the job really quickly.

I’d second the Islabike. Brakes that work and very light for a kids bike. I reckon they are pretty god value considering the quality. They also do a trade in when you need to move up a size.

Unless they have had a fair bit of snow which gets ridden on and then turns to ice. Its not worth bothering with if its like that, better going natural and where theres less traffic.

I’d drop Alpkit a line to ask when their stuff is coming and check on their refund policy. I don’t think you’d have any problem sending it back if you don’t like the fit. I remember using their sizing guide when I ordered mine it I think it was very accurate.

I’d have thought the gilet down jacket would have been more versatile than the full down jacket, guess it depends on what you want it for. I tend to wear mine after rides, in the car park etc. Although it easily packs into a very small space so ideal for emergency use if its very cold.

I didn’t think there was much at the moment, guess I’ll see what the rest of the week brings. Supposed to be really cold over the weekend.

I’ve had an Alpkit Filet for two years and to be honest in this country I can’t see why I’d need a full down jacket. I’d recommend Alpkit every time. Their stuff is very well priced, superb quality and their service is excellent. On the odd occasion I’ve had a problem they’ve sorted me out very quickly. http://WWW.ALPKIT.COM
They only have them in large at the moment but it says they should have more by the end of the month. I also have a headtorch, two rucksacks, a sleeping bag and three sleeping mats(airics). Another great wee British company, imo.

If you can get up there I would recommend Torridon. We spent two days up there last year, best riding I’ve ever done. Hoping to go up again this easter. Big hills and views and top quality trails.

Fsa good and easy to get replacement bearings. Also got an on one smoothie on my inbred and its going well, certainly looks well sealed. Bit ugly though.

Don’t know if the showers etc are open at the mo. Think the cafe is only open at wkends and pretty sure Rik takes Jan off. I was there at New Year, not riding but some guys who were said it was riding well and didn’t look too muddy.

You can camp at Afan at both of the sites. Top one has better facilities I think. We stayed there for 3 nights I think, last year. Few midgies about but we shared a fire with a couple of firemen. Good showers if I remember right and I think the cafe is open late a couple of nights and there’s the bike shop too. Bottom site was as on sloping grass field with good views if I remember right but not sure what else is there. I didn’t think the riding was too special though. Bit like they’ve copied Inners, but not as good. I liked the oldest trail most, nice and rooty.

I had some endura bib 3/4 which were great, but the pad fell to bits after a couple of years so I removed and wore padded shorts underneath but I was dissappointed. Got some of their baggies too and had problems with zips and stitching. And the liner short sizes? Two pairs, both med, one very tight and one very big. Trying Ground Effect 3/4’s now and they seem good so far but only used them a couple of times. Knees ride up a little, but nice and warm and look well made and they only took a week to arrive over the Xmas period despite coming from New Zealand. In summary Endura stuff does the job well but seems a bit fragile, Ground Effect looks promising.

I’d be well up for that Haribo. A couple of mates and I are looking for stuff we can do thats not too far from Edinburgh, night riding mostly. Would Blairadam be better at this time of year. Everywhere is a bit muddy at the moment.

I can ride up pretty steep stuff with 130mm forks so I shouldn’t think you’ll have a problem.

Get the MTB option. I got mine a few months ago and they are great. Maybe not the brightest but they are all the light you need. I was thinking about the cheaper option too but am glad I just spent the extra. This came in handy when my mate didn’t charge his battery properly and had no lights just after we started our ride. We swapped helmets and continued. I like this back up offered by the two sets of lights. Everybody very impressed by them paticularly the size and lack of weight. Get the MTB kit I don’t think you’ll regret it.
