Belters being poly is a huge part of the book. You are stuck with the same 4 or 5 people for years (time is sped up somewhat on the tv, books it takes months to get places) so people are pretty fluid with thier sleeping arrangements….

You can get a lot of 2nd hand estate for 12k, I am selling my mint/fsh passatt r line with 85k miles for 6500, it has been well looked after and will go for years. So you can effectively get double that!.

Example plenty of octavias 2-3 years old, under 25k miles in your budget which I would take over a focus.

For an only car I think a van is too much of a compromise.

I have lite on my hardtail and the full on the hope. Reflects the riding and chances of malfunction really. Fit and forget until you need it. Brilliant things and i even splurged on the pliers, bacon strips and pokey thing on the full version.

My wife and i are both key workers. I am in defence and she is in food retail. Kids 2 and 4 normally nursery + childminder and wife normally works afternoons, so both home at night.

I work 0730 to 1630 from home, wife leaves for evening shift at 1700 and half day on a saturday. This is obviously not ideal as we barely see each other and have virtually 0 free time bar a Sunday which is family day.

I have a letter saying my kids can go to nursery but the local one has a firm policy if either parent can wfh then no thank you.

I am fine with this for now but cannot do forever. I support it fully but it is definetly sucky and finding my stress levels and waist circumference are growing in equal measures!

Use scotoiler fs365. Water based so easy to clean up and as indoors wont get washed off.
    Brilliant stuff.

Only time i have had cash in my hand for the last year has been when selling stuff through facebook and someone turned up to collect.

That and my barber was cash only but i have been once since start of lockdown.

I think its essentail for older people and for private sales of goods but in 20 years I see it gone almost completely.

I bought the alpkit ti ones but they are not the most non stick. For short bikepacking i used a small tefal number. Its big but works really well.
For long trips i just have a cereal bar or 2

Warzone is great. Play plunder as it will help you learn the game with a respawn (battle royale you only have 1 life, if you die you get a second chance 1v1 which if you lose thats it. I have seen a br game last 3 minutes!

Number of pages on facebook on the game and a couple of steamers like StoneMountain64 and Marley13 who are good to watch for plays and weapons advice.

I am the same, aging ps4 and only really cod and gran turismo, only play a couple of nights a week but still good stress relief and using stones loadouts have even won a couple of BR games…..(and loads of plunders)

I did it in 17 hours over 2 days (and great glen way day after). Its a hefty ride to do in a day, conic hill, devils staircase and the climb out of kinlochleven are all pretty brutal, esp kll and the walky bit at loch lomond is just horrible.

I have ridden with Rab and he is super fit and amazing technically and he took some serious prep to do it in the time he did.

Water will be your biggest challenge. I drank over 3l a day doing it, **** carrying 6kg of water!!

I would love to do it in a group but would take 3 days and really enjoy it!

Also bike and tyre choice is important, i ended up buying an anthem 29er to do it and felt it was perfect.

If its part of the house do a garage conversion but put in french doors.

Warmer. More secure. Still all the access you need for bikes and you can still use it like a garage as such if you put down a hard wearing floor.

    Its what I did :)

Just rediscovered Cobra Kai. Watched the first series on paid for you tube a couple years back. Great switch mind off 80s throwback entertainment however one thing is totally bugging me. They all, constantly, drive pissed up! Is that seen OK in Merica? Ladt episode i saw Johnny staggered out a car and no one batted an eyelid…

If they are really bad you can get ones from decathlon with built in hand warmers, the ones you crack and can then freeze to bring back to life. They have a zipped compatment on the back of the hand.

You can also buy gloves with built in electric to heat hands which are usb charged. Range in price from 5 quid on wish to 40 plus on amazon.

Hate to say fair enough but that extra 6cm might mean they need to use a different van/process somewhere.

Stirling, Dunkeld, Fort William or Aviemore.

I live in Stirling and have both great running and mtb from my doorstep but if I had the option (and could cope with tourists) Aviemore would beat it.

So new stricter regs coming in on Saturday. Still to read through fully as was fixated on the “no alcohol outside” bit……. will be a few places really struggling to be open now.

Supply will be a problem, it was tough to get one. We bought an 8ft, net inside springs and a tunnell entry as opposed to a zip that needs an adult to fasten.

I have a play area i built for the kids and put rubber mulch all over it so they are safe from 2m fall (we have climbing wall as well outside) and the trampoline sits on this, held in place by large auger type screws.

Used daily in the summer but a leaf trap in autumn and an ice creator in winter.

Remember Glasgow is a really big place. Lots of cultural diversity and language differences. Lots of different levels of class and people had local variations on everything.

My mum was born and grew up in Maryhill and I was raised in a wee village 15 miles north of the city centre where my mum met my dad when she moved north of the city.

Lived in a council house till I was 21.

    Russ Abbott I am not….

Local bike shop country cycles just had 5 serious e bikes stolen (santa cruz bullit reserve level) 44k for 5. The reactions to the police page explaining the price tells you everything you need to know!

NB if you haven’t mentioned a bottle of bucky, someones da being on the brew and drinking bru then no one will believe its set in Glasgae.

Reading this article on excess deaths really shows what the true impact has been. The death rate graph shows we are a significantly higher rate than the last 10 years, going well against the trend. All that good work in healthcare, less smoking, safety etc. Very frightening.

BBC News – Covid: 2020 saw most excess deaths since World War Two

Wild camping isnt mentioned at all that i can find and there is nothing saying WHEN you can exercise. It would also be a real low risk endeavour if you did it solo.

I used to moderate a couple of car forums which at the time had users to rival pistonheads but didnt have decent classifieds. Both gone where now pheads is the place to sell a performance car.

Facebook is so easy to post pics etc. it is causing the decline
of loads of forums (including this one) however again pistonheads does really well. Why? A respected and well used classifieds section drives traffic. Its almost its usp. Singletrack used to have that….

Do you know why drugs are illegal? They effect they have on people can be very different. One person gets a buzz and little side effects and another dies.

    Sounds similar eh?

So. Would you report a drug dealer?

I am still amazed at the amount of people posting in facebook groups being miles out of any description of local riding.

Special mention to the guy on a scottish mtb group today talking about the first time he has visited an area (close to Glasgow) and comparing to the place he was last weekend (dunkeld) but lives in Edinburgh….

I hope he punctures both tyres but only has 1 inner tube.

I do mine and my mates rockshox (helps i bought 1l of the fluid you need, many 15mls lol. Rockshox are really straight forward, only specialist tool you need is a non chamfered socket and circlip pliers.

However i pay to get my fox 36s as the tools and lube to do it properly are nearly the price of a service at tf.

A great example to test would be my HB130. Would this pass the 50% mark? You think its a uk.bike and the frame is 100% UK but I reckon half the cost is from non uk.

    Frame. Made in uk
Wheels. Hubs uk made and assembled in uk. Not 100% where rims are made (fortus)
Tyres maxxis. They have a major uk hub, but I think Taiwan made. 130 retail.
Gears/cranks Sram x0 and not made in uk. Over 1k retail.
Brakes. Shimano brakes but hope discs. So main cost not uk 300 retail.
Fork, dropper and shock. Fox so non uk and at least 2k rrp
Bar and stem. Hope so presume all uk.
    Saddle. Non uk made.

    Anyone know?

We paid 25 per sqm in scotland couple years ago. Pre covid but I thought pricy as the tiler easily did 2sqm an hour. Thats nearly 100k a year…..

I did it on a 100m 29er full sus anthem which was perfect in my view. 17 hours in total and still body took a beating. And best advice i got was to take some pipe lagging for the top tube to help when carrying.

You know how videos always flatten angles and make big jumps look small?

The big rock he jumps over near the beginning is not only massive but the landing is very sketchy!

The rocks he straightlines are chunky and steep. Here is me doing the easierish line down them

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CFrFINUlJF2/?igshid=18psdxrig19kh

    The skidding bit?

He built the trail and its proper steep. I tripoded down it when it was wet…

You think you can ride then you see Scotty riding the same trails as you and realise you are a slow mincer!!
