Yes they’ve changed just like any other bike and on a similar scale.

I’d have figured you could take the shop you bought it from to small claims court, you have no contact or terms with Raleigh UK, they deal with the shop but have zero responsibility to you.

@jeffl its complicated but our date window is limited, it’s been in May or before every year until last year but we can’t do that going forward.

Hayes for me, better power and control than Shimano. Magura or Sram.

From what I and other friends with them have found it seems to be very random. My bike is Shimano EP8, first motor, 13 months, 1200miles, second motor, 3 weeks, 30 miles. Third motor up to 4 weeks and 100 miles so far. No difference in usage, cleaning, conditions etc. Some last ages, some no time, with no pattern.

From by bike shop running friend Bosch fail similarly but are better at warranty, quicker turn around etc than Shimano which have taken 3 weeks plus.

Feels more like they’ve been barely touched since they went in than just the last few years. Most of the welsh centres feel the same to be honest. The odd little bit of work here or there. Fundamentally money for shiny new projects is relatively easy from various pots, not for ongoing maintenance though.

@pook they’ll see it last year? Sounds impressive.

Not sure on the ford stuff but on a VW tdi (that I know well in general) I’d be looking at this one – P0089 – fuel pressure regulator A performance and changing the pressure regulating valve on the end of the fuel rail after the injectors.

The new Parkwood pump track is worth considering too, next to the car park area near the dual (currently mid refurb by Ride Sheffield), open now, built about 2 weeks ago. It also has a small very beginner pump track too for those who are really unsure.

Give the reg, give a localish postcode a few streets away if you’re concerned. It’s mostly so people can check actual location etc.

The best brakes bar none for me, better than shimano, magur,a hope tech 4’s. Reliable, powerful and very light lever feel.

    I’ve wondered the same.

@killer we have a no blame culture but it’s all your fault.

Decathlon ones for £40 are worth a look and I just got some TLD ones from Tredz for under £50 a pair.

I can’t remember what Mark at Expert Bike Repair was doing sets for at bike bonanza last week but might be worth a message, they’re only in Rotherham near the end of the parkway.

@whyterider93 Hamsterley can’t cope with enough people for a national, it struggles at regionals for logistics with notably lower numbers. It was tried in the past but just doesn’t work unfortunately. There’s a constant hunt for new venues everywhere but just very hard to find. There aren’t really any english spots that work.

@funkydunc different tree types as I understand. Rhyd Y Felin just down the road hasn’t had the same issues.

Worth noting that the t5 on barn doors are all the same I believe so that’ll make it easier to find one. Choices are very limited.

We didn’t take the decision today lightly but if you’d have been able to visit the top of the hill everyone would have understood. We headed up around 9 when it felt pretty mild at the bottom of the hill, the top felt very, very different. It might have been possible to start lower down at that point but lighter folks would have been disappearing down in to the next valley.
By the time I left after clear up at 1.30-2 the wind at the bottom of the hill was very strong, blowing stuff around in the car park etc. It was definitely the right choice in the end but still a real shame to finish the race that way.

Glad those of you that made it along enjoyed yourselves. The weather wasn’t quite as good as last year but it didn’t rain, there was a bit of sun and no one fried to death in the heat.

I’m one of the 5 folks that make it all happen, ably assisted on the day and for set up and digs by Jon, Stealthcat and other parts of the Ride Sheffield crew, on the day we have a lot of others who help with marshaling, such us as relapsed_mandalorian, manning the merch and Ride Sheffield stands and lots of other stuff.

It takes a huge amount of time and energy to make the event happen, all unpaid and the proceeds go to maintaining the mtb trails in Greno Woods. If you had a good time please donate a few quid to the pot, set up a trail fund subscription with Ride Sheffield or come to some dig days and put some graft in. Seeing all the thousands of folks (about 3,5k people in total we believe) having a great day makes it all worth while.

It’s a horrendous place to find long term accomodation, huge demand, high prices, lots of landlords doing tourist not long term lets for more cash etc. It was bad 8 years ago when I lived there for a bit, much, much worse now. I can’t help with answers, I’d ask the employers if they have any ideas, links, options etc.

Thanks for ideas folks. I stopped at La Bresse and metabief in the end. Toll free drive down and both fun to ride. Spoiled a little by poor weather but would definitely do both again.

Yes if I get down to La Bresse or Metebief I would. Hoping for some specific gems from folks who’ve tried spots.

The points awarded for the various bits has changed from the table above, less for semis than that after the riders suggested it was unbalanced.

I’ve had a couple of vehicles I was selling inspected by potential buyers. It’s a bit like a house survey, mostly a lesson in arse covering with a very slim chance of actually finding an issue.

@escrs T5.1 cruise is on stalk unless using an emulator to mod to factory signals and make it work from a steering wheel.

Which engine does it have, or which power more crucially? Miles and rough price?

It was an amazing start to the Pearce season. They’re the best races around bar none and the track, sunshine and flawless uplift made it an amazing weekend. The weekend come down is hitting hard today!

Yup that’s basically it. I’ve done half a dozen or more installs now. Buy a kit from ebay, check roof space to figure out what size of panel or panels fit best, plastic mounts, sikaflex 252 to bond them to the roof, self drilling roofing screws are good to fit panels to mounts, drill one 15mm ish hole to drop the cables in (high level cupboards are an ideal entry point and home for the charge controller), then cables to battery from there. Takes about half a day.

Rachel Atherton had some pink/purple Hayes brakes on her bike at Dyfi yesterday, maybe just a colour or maybe something more than that?

Shame to miss out at 85, they’re the best brakes around by far and I’d like another 3 brakes ideally.
