The voodoo or the Boardman would be best bet really.

The Boardman is very well specced and the Vodoo is nice and steely, more springy and responsive than alu IMHO

All you’ve got to do is bottom the crank bolt out, it’s not that hard with a long 8mm hex wrench.

If you’re struggling get a 12″ long breaker bar with a 3/8″ end and use a hex socket, that’ll give you plenty of torque.

I’ve got a Evolve XC on my Handjob and a SLX on the Pitch.

I think the RaceFace shifts better and looks better, granted the SLX is stronger.

Could this be the reason why I ride in non-bike specific jackets, like a Berghaus Aquafoil when it’s wet or a snowboarding shell jacket when it’s **** hooning it down!!

Is it all Shimano stuff or are the majority of price rises on XT?

I think it’s the stupidity factor more than anything else

Like me yesterday deciding that riding down a set of partly snow covered forest steps with icy edges and a bend in the middle was a fantastic idea………..

I left Kettering this morning amidst a snow flurry that promptly knackerd up the local roads in 30minutes!!

Going up the M1 by the time I got to Leicester it was fine and then cross country to Cheshire and there’s still a nice covering out in the sticks.

steve_b77 do you think Ignitors are “faster” than high rollers? I’d disagree, I find HR’s quite a bit faster than Ignitors! whats going on there then??

Yeah I definatley find Ignitors faster than high rollers, well the Ignitors I use anyway, they’re the Exception Series ones.

As for general Ignitor perceptions, I think they’re pretty good to be honest, I run them on my HT when it’s not clad in Mud X’s, they grip pretty well on rocks ‘n roots and cope really well with snow (found that out on Monday night).

You can pick them up on fleabay for less than the shop prices too looky here

This reminds me of the NTL email that did the rounds a few years ago that culminated in:

“you’re clearly too stupid to own or operate a computer so go to your cupboard, get the boxes out, pack it away and do us all a favour” or summit like

HR’s definatley don’t roll faster, not in the combo I have anyway Front-ST, Rear-Maxpro.

    Perhaps the XC HR’s do?

what year you talking, ’08 or ’09?

if ’09 pikes are coil only and rev’s are air only

    if ’08 totally different

    U-turn pikes are 95-140mm, U-turn Revs are 85-130mm.

Pikes have 20mm Maxel, Revs have QR

I’ve had the following over the last year:

2.2″ Mountain Kings on a HT, roll bloody fast but don’t like mud/wet

2.4″ Mountain Kings on my Pitch, ok in the dry, seem to suddenly loose all grippage ability as the tread wears a little.

2.35″ High ROllers on my Pitch bloody ace.

    Overall, DON’T buy mountain kings

It also sez that you should use a top swing front mech, don’t know why though.

You will notice that if you do you’ll be unable to use the lower cage mounts as the mech sits in the middle of them, no biggie really, but a bit mental

As above, why do you want a cable guide on the BB?

All the cables run under the top tube and then:

Front Mech – Down the Seat Tube

Rear Mech – Down the right hand side seat stay in the bosses

Rear Brake – Down the left hand side seat stay on the cable guides

    About 33% of me.

Pitch is off the peg, but now with plenty of upgrades.

Allez is off the peg and completly standard (up for sale too)

Handjob bought all the bits and built it myself bar the wheels, got some good bargains buying ’08 parts and sale bits too

Got 5″ here in Kettering, and it’s still going!!

Only down side is I’m sat in a hotel room on the side of the A14, and my bikes are at home in Cheshire.

Might go home today, don;t wanna risk the Friday madness

    Oooh let me think:

Forgetting to isolate the immersion heater switch before attempting to change the face plate (not bad as I’m a qualified sparky!)

Cutting to the bone on two fingers of my left hand “catching” sawn off machine screws as I cut them with a hacksaw, kinda caught the blade too!!

Going over the bars and hitting my noggin (contained within a helmet) on a tree stump, being a bit dazed, carrying on then ditching it on the exit jump from a bomb hole all of 2 minutes later and getting gravel rash/cuts from ankle to top of thigh and all along one arm.

Numerous other things over the years from the bizzare to the damm right dangerous, but I’m stil here

I’ve got Rev 426 Coil U-Turns and speaking to Tim @ TF tuned he said the spring they come with is fine for riders who weigh about 13st, where as the spring pikes come with is only good up to about 11.5/12st and if you 13’ish you shoudl fit a Firm one.

The Revs are definatley stiffer than the Pikes, and I get about 25mm (22%) of sag when they’re set 115mm of travel, which is about right and feels fine.

Personally I’ve only ever come across one Dog at a tral center and it didn’t cause any problems, got talking to the owner and he knocks about on here.

But to be honest when people say there’s generally no rules prohibiting walkers/dogs/horses etc from trail centres, there are centers where none of the above are allowed on the trails and vice-a-versa (riders not allowed on bridle/foot paths).

Any well controlled, well behaved dog shouldn’t cause a problem, however there are plenty of badly controlled/badly behaved dogs out there, that would be dangerous in public let alone in a trail center.

The other day I got knocked clean off my feet by a dog in Delamere Forest, I was “Very” restrained when I found the owner, he just didn’t give a monkies and was another 100m up the foot path!!!

I find the 11-34 is better on my FS due to the extra weight and the easier climbing gears.

11-32 seems to shift better though, smaller jumps between some gears

Your only limit on disc size is that covered by the fork warranty.

185mm is the way forward on the front of a bike, saying that I’ve got 203mm on my Pitch and 185 on the Handjob
