Posh blingy can openers from “specialist kitchen stores” that cost £20 and last 20 seconds.

Now replaced with old skool £2 jobbie from supermarket, never fails

IWH – It’s a brand new shock from Mojo, so tuning wise I’ll just have to play with it for a while.

MBUK did run one on a Enduro as an extended test last year or the year before and the results were good.

about time you painted your fence & powerwashed the concrete bases now the bike is finished

PS your grass is OK tho

Ahh, the fence is 10year treated timber so no need for paint, like the “Natural Look”.

I do admit my pole is a bit rusty, might get round to it this summer.

Funnily enough the grass hasn’t been cut since last year!!

Problem Solved, I’v nicked a valve cap off me ca and it fits just nicely

    Now for the set up.

Onzadog – I’ve heard about them sticking down, it appears to be a maintainance issue, set the sag at 20% using the littel gauge you get with the bike, thats 165psi which matches whan I put in my old shock for my weight 85kgs fully kitted

This is exactly what I’ve been trainign for since the end of January, just doing 3-4 miles twice a week (as well as biking) for the first month until I was comfortable.

I then moved away with work 2 weeks ago to Northamptonl wasn’t too sure of what the area was like to run round so I joined Fitness First and got on their Body First Programme (bonus of no joining fee, pay £30 for 3 personal trainer sessions – normally £90, then you get a refund on the £30 and they include the first month for free too!!)

Had my first session with the PT (it’s a lady too  ) last night and she set me up on speeds etc and talked through a training regime that includes going for one proper outdoors run a week at about 8 miles to start with when I feel comfortable doing it.

It’s definatley given me the push I needed and I’m adamant I’ll get sorted and crack 2 hours – doing 8k in 45mins at the mo, so I can;t see it being an issue if I’m disciplined.

Bear in mind that until I started running at the end of January, I had run any distance at any kind of pace since High school (at least 16 years ago), so it’ll be no worries for your wife if shes generally fit to begin with and motivated.

Looks really kool, is the shock on the right way up?

I just thought it’d be better with the piggy back above the spring or are there no clearance issues with it like that?

It does make a pleasent change to see people actually building their own house.

I do like how the “Hippie” was so dismissive about going 65k over his budget, where the hell does someone secure that kind of money on a house made from old tyres and dirt.

I’m thinking they may be hippy/eco warrior kinda people with a nice nest egg laid down by wealthy relatives who made all their money out of heavy industry, hence the “we must live an ecologicaly friendly lifestyle” to make up for what our loaded parents/grandparents did.

Nice house in the end though, can you even imagine how much a bespoke oak kitchen of that size would cost, let alone how much they spent on the interior!!

Round bed = hippie sh@g fest/love in/orgy times en france

forge – bloody love it, total overkill for my night time rides back home but once you get it into areas like above (it’s the altura trail btw) and wales trail centres / more natural stuff or if you wanna prat around on a 4x course it’s brilliant.

It’s superb on the downs and the more confidence you get the faster it becomes as I found out when I shot past my mates when we did nant-y-arain on teh rocky down hill bits, two of them were on Ramsons and a couple on Meta 5.5’s

To be honest it’s not mega light but it’s 31lbs so not exactly heavy.

Cant’ wait ot ride it again at the weekend with the new shock fitted.

And hopefully off to the Mega next summer

This is my Pitch Comp, not the best pic in the world but it’s the only one I’ve got in it’s most recent incarnation.

    – SLX Crankset, XT Cassette & KMC X9.93 Chain
    – Outland CNC’d pedals (Slim Jims by any other name)
    – Sunline V1 AM Stem
    – Sunline V2 Bars + Outland Lock-ons
    – Crank Bros Jolin with Charge Spoon
    – On the way a FOX DHX 5.0 Air
    – Hope seat clamp & Head set.

    Nant-y-arain is great, you’ve got a 3 in 1 jobbie there.

the Summit trail, the continental trail and the all dayer (4 hours) summit trail.

Climach is pretty good too as well

Surely if you put a spring in that is too heavy for you the resulting ride will be horrible, bouncing everywhere with a complete loss of grip.

It’s like putting stiffer springs on a car, less compression but the ride and grip go to absolute shit

It’s a good buy, it’s a tough big for him but he growing at a ridiculous rate as most teenagers do.

moved the saddle a bit further forwards on the rails, put a 70mm stem on and put all the steerer spacers above the stem and it’s not a bad fit.

He now wants to come to France with me next summer

I’ve got a set od Mavic 321’s on Deore hubs with ACI black Double butted spokes built by Dave and they’re bloody good.

My mate also has Mavic 717’s (the lighter ones) on Pro II hubs and ACI DB Spokes and they’re fine.

No worries in 2 months and the tension is still fine in all spokes.

I fitted my RaceFace Evolve XC cranks to the Handjobmyself using a long 8mm allen key, followed the instructions precisely.

Greased the spline, male & female ends, turned the bike upside down and cranked away with the allen key, it bottomed out easily which accordingly is more than enough torque to hold it on properly.

3 months of muddy gritty shite and no problems at all, averaging 6 hours per week, with drops and general Trail duties.

I’m not mega light either at 13st, and I’m not a super floaty light rider either.

It’s all down to fitting things correctly IMHO
