It is what it is. If they are opening a bar or hostel or something then great but to live there would not be a relaxing thing in my opinion. Live just outside somewhere and commute in if work is in new quay but leave living there to the youngsters and stag do’s

I had the technic chassis and the motor kit. You could either make the steering work really fast or replace the crank and pistonst and make it drive except ot wouldn’t move as the diff would just spin!

    My favourit kit was this

remember my mum breaking i whilst dusting and me not being best pleased…

while we are on the subject of hampshire riding, I managed to lose my knog blinder somewhere between cheesefoot head and baybridge. MOst probably in the woods bit but if anyone comes across it could you let me know. All black and missing the mount (still on my bars!)…

Yes I am have a mwb high top that I am half way trough turning into a camper. Not had any Big problems with it yet just a few small things but it was a van from a builder before i got it so had to fix a few things, plus a bit of rust that i need to sort. Mines the 109 and as said will sit at 65-70 all day long and gets about 400 to a tank if you Are steady.
I had a T5 before and this is a big van so I have found out that it costs a bit more to do due to the size, but it’s worth it for the space and to stand up in side

Here is a link to my build if you want some ideas.
    Crafter build

Beanie, been watching your build thread, very neat with the inside bike mount 🙂

    And the BBQ point too..

only issue with mine is there is no room inside for bikes…

Might need to rejig my rear end to sort that out …

i’ve got a 2006 lt35 with the 109 engine and to be honest its a big van so its not going to ever feel quick, good enough cruise all day at 65-70 , not too bad on fuel either.

loads more room than a T4/T5 and much cheaper 🙂

    This is mine 🙂

One of my favourite Tuesday night rides that bit CG.

    Particularly fun in the dark.

My description would be start at the gravel path at CH where the water tank is, head down the hill and about half a mile is on the left there is a BW, think there is a finger post or maybe jsut a stumpy post with a blue BW square. That goes down to the tree line and turns right then follow that up a steep hill after a steel portacabin (shooting lodge) past another water tanker, down and up, down and up to the road. Straight over there then follow the BW but look out for a left turn and take that and pedal for all your worth and enjoy the ride..

Then at the end turn right, go over the A272 and follow the road round to Upham for a pint of Punter in the Brushmakers arms….

    i’ll be there tonight 🙂

    not far from lanhydrock/ cardinham.

Not bad in luxulyan, theres a clay trail from eden into st uastell then down to pentewan, explore kings wood, its not amazing but fun enough..

there is/was a proper DH bit down by porthoolland, but the builder left for wales a few years back..

bissoe tramway has some fun stuff by the arsenic mines…

nice house lucky man…would love to move back there…

    plenty of templates similar to that one here;

    http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/subjects/photography/

Worpdress si simple and has lots of “plugins” that will do nearly everything you can think of.

You need a hosting package as well as your domain, most hosts have automated wordpress installers in the control panel so its all fairly straight forward

i’ve gone for the osprey one at £25 collect from local store…

In my mind the straps look more up to the job of stabilising the pack than the others, is tempting to go for that camelbak as well though…

its monday, sunny, my legs hurt from HOTS and i demand an update to this thread…

    just spotted the osprey double thing on the montane shop link;

    http://www.blacks.co.uk/equipment/119670-osprey-talon-4-lumbar-pack.html#read_more

much a s i like the idea of a camelbak, i serioulsy have reservations, the filler lid did the damage for me oon a hard hit and even if that is just anecdotal, I have no desire to put one on a godd bit of my back 🙂

having said that if hydrapak still did their version of the low and wide bladder i could buty the camelbak bag and swap the bladder out…

    Steelsreal
    Full Member

mmm that camelbak looks okay, anyone know what bladder it has? Have an aversion to camelbak bladders due to aforementioned meccano being caused by one…

    Steelsreal
    Full Member

Montane batpack half price currently in blacks. Holders for two bottles

thanks but due to various bits of meccano in my back i cannot a). wear one or b). sustain taking any significant weight on it..

so anything that weights over my shoulders is out, lower back is fine though, have a wingnut but with anyweight in like a reservoir it does not work… On my ECR not a problem as i have bottle bosses glaore but on FS keeping water on the frame is tricky…

    Steelsreal

mmm bum bag, has the wrong connotations really but have a mate who uses one so may be worth a bash…any links to them…

my team murray had a coaster brake and lots of early BMX tricksters used them…

My daughter had a specialized hotrock with coaster and never got on with it, more to do with small frame height with a long top tube, but when using the trailgator she found it hilarious that she could stop me in my tracks by simply peddling backwards..yeah great 🙂

Moved to an Isla with small levers and vs and not looked back since

Not an ECR, but I have a Krampus. Just took it round 80km at HOTS this weekend, and it was marvellous. The 29+ platform is a great idea for long days in the saddle.

and i was the one chatting to you about my ECR, see its up there /\

I almost need both a krampus and an ecr, swap the frames for whatever suits…

    or is that extravagant???

Indeed tried a king cage stem cap mount, but that was a bit in the way and fell out if it got rough..

    Seat mount not tried yet…

Thank you all, I am very pleased with how it turned out…thought I may get some comments on my Sigg drink set up but none…marvelous.

The bags are alpkit, and they are very good, can get their 13 litre dry bag in the tail pack with room to spare, so only needed an 8 on the kanga harness, which when i got it thought “this is a bit weird it’ll never work” but the pack and map pocket stayed put even on the rockiest descents. Which i thought it handled quite well to be honest. I was torn between the Krampus and ECR but thought what the heck and it has already got me searching my next multi day adventure…

Southampton to St austell could be a wheeze 🙂

    HELLO 🙂

I have one, and ridden it quite a way. Did oplymouth to Minehead last week on it (in the rain and wind).

I liked it a lot, everyone else asked why ( i don’t know i liked the look of it).

    Things to note..

BB is low, so very stable when loaded, but is prone to pedal strikes in rocky bits and water pipe steps need thinking about.

THe tyre to chain clearance is tight. Surly say you have to run their offset double or others have used middleburns with road spiders. I used a standard SRAM double and with a bit of fiddling with the wheel alignemnt in the dropouts got a rub free solution with still plenty of mud clearance.

Other than than i found the ride great, tyre pressure around the 15 psi mark give a bit of give. On road sections you can get intop a bit of a bouncy rhythm but that just makes it funny.

    Small boys love it

    Most people ask why..

I bought mine as F&F and wheels from CTBM one Friday night after a few too many beers 🙂 No regrets though, it gets ridden more than my horsethief 🙂

Oh and the fat tyres don’t fit in bike racks too well, so thats a bit of a pain.

Do it, by the sounds of it your riding will suit it brilliantly…

There are Sprinters & VW LTs that meet your requirements but are over 3.5t.

Not sure how it works with the weight but you can get them derated to 3.5t. And if you convert to a camper and change the logbook then maybe the class changes (i know the MOT class does not sure what happens with weight)..

lots of info on this thread..
