Looking at moving to a double on my slx, this might be a daft question but I am going to get the 36t middle ring as recommended, is it the same ring if I have a 10 speed rear mech ?

I ask because it actually says 9 speed on the chainrings page on crc http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=38189

Delamere is great but you really need a local to show you the best routes as none are marked.

There is a great lbs called twelvefifty who has an informal meet there on Wednesday evenings, they seem a freindly group so could be a good place to start 🙂

I could have the total wrong end of the stick here but isn’t the seat tube shorter on a medium frame ?

With a adjustable seat post I whack it high when i need to pump the pedals and can just knock it down for technical stuff – suits me either way 😀

A touch under 6 foot on a medium here and love it, uppy downy seatpost helps tho.

Cheers for the replys, I have one on order for eight quid from my lbs (Winstanleys in Wigan) who were very helpfull.

In the mean time I managed to repair my old one with silver solder at work, it’s an poor design really, such a tiny connector very easily broken.

EDIT – Just checked Kalups link and the updated replacement one looks far stronger than the original, hopefully this will be the one I have on order.

You need the fault code to see which one as they can be up to or over 50 quid a piece.

Really easy to replace tho, usually just 1 bolt or allen key/torx.

Check the surface it sits on for any crap, and if it has a sensor ring (cog looking thing round the cv joint or in the brake disk) check for any damage, it is inside the bearing on more modern VW/Audis tho.

The fault light might not go out straight away, give it a run first and try to get the abs to kick in on gravel, then take the key out of the ignition and start the car again.

Could be the dual mass flywheel part of the clutch going knackered if it is doing it under drive or as mentioned earlier egr valve or an injector going down.

What make of car and size of engine is it ?

*edit* just seen you mention the type of car if the last post sorry 🙂

I got a metre for front brake (160 lyriks tho) and 2 meter for rear then trimmed a bit off when fitting.

I have bought a Nukeproof mega and built it up separately, with the cube being so new I thought it might be worth selling as a full bike, it has to go either ways so i’ll get it cleaned up and take a few pics see what happens – cheers for the help !

    Cheers for the replys !

I think it might be worth looking into splitting it if its only worth round £1200, I was hoping for £1500-1600 but that is now sounding very hopefull 😀

With regards the size, this is my first full sus and I hadn’t found this forum at the time, I had sat on a “20 previously and it seemed ok so I went for it. The bike comes with a 100mm stem and once i replaced that with a 60 it actually rides well, I do have long arms and legs for my height however it is slightly too big to throw around on the downy bits.

An expensive lesson but in the future I will make more effort to try to get a test ride – I have always been a bit impulsive buying stuff and didn’t want to wait 🙂

I would get another Stereo tho they are a cracking bike, very light in carbon and looks the business in matt black.

Quick pic using my phone if anyone is interested –

Weighs around 33 lbs (done with bathroom scales :D)

@Devron, I got my stem from crc would have had yours off you if i knew 🙂 It does seem a bit weighty gonna ditch it when i make my mind up about length but things seem limited on the 1.5 inch forks.

Only been out twice on it up to now but it feel great to me ! Defo made going down over rougher stuff easier for better or worse but i’m no mtb god and will be upping the speed when i get more used to the bike, feels a lot different to the more xc type setup i’m used too.

I’m 5’11” average build which put me between large and medium on the recommended frame size and I went for a medium wanting something I can throw about more than my last bike, a large cube stereo (which will be up for sale when I’v put it back to factory spec).

Spec wise i’v gone for –

Nuke Proof Generator Wheels (sun ringle rebadged)
Nuke Proof Warhead 760 riser bars
Nuke Proof Element Skinny Lock On Grip
Formula Oro Bianco Brakeset 2008 (150 euro special offer on their site)
    Nuke Proof Warhead 44EEOS-DC Headset
Rock Shox Lyrik U-Turn 1.5″ Forks 2010 (on offer on crc)
Shimano SLX 660 10 Speed Groupset (actionsport.de offer)
    Sunline V1 DH Stem – 1.5″

Using my uppy-downy reverb seatpost, fizik gobi saddle & 2.3 High Rollers off my last bike.

Can put some pics up and weight tommorow !

Had mine a week and love it up to now, not a biking god but like having nice gear and up to now its great fun !

Anyone else running the 1.5 lyriks – what stem did you go for? I have come from a more xc bike and i’m using a 65mm downhill sunline cheapy and it feels great but wondering weather a 50 is worth trying.

I always order it from Travelex to be picked up from the airport, seems to be a good deal with no hastle.

I’v had one for a year and love it, the standard stem is a bit long for my taste – I swapped it for a 70mm and it felt better for me.

I was very surprised I found the huge Fat Alberts a bit sketchy in the wet, running them at low pressure helped but I ended up swapping them for high rollers.

The bottom bracket is quite low, it makes it feel well planted and like your sat more in the bike but pedal strikes can be a problem – I quickly adapted to it and now really like it.

They are a large frame so your doing the right thing getting a test.

The other thing is I got an end of year deal on a carbon frame, I have read the ally ones are quite heavy.

I only just managed to get it off the bottom shelf in costco and put it on the cart thing, defo needed help putting it in the van.

It’s quite heavy but it’s a big lump, you can’t get your arms round the box to lift properly.

I am a professional car mechanic have been using that exact toolbox from costco for nearly a year now. I think I paid about 300 quid, it’s great value.

All the draws are on roller bearings and have took a fair bit of hammer but the block is not quite butchers standard – it’s a big chunk of hdf laminate :D.

The other lads take the piss but i’m not into spunking 2k on a snap-on or mac toolbox, defo recommended.

Somet funny going on with this site, it’s only let me order one panaracer fire xc, when i try to order another it won’t add it to my basket – bargain at 15 quid a pop too 🙁

Cheers for the help, got a reverb on my bike now and it’s great, however a word of warning – the stock at chain reaction at the moment is oem, it doesn’t come boxed and is missing the oil and bleed kit, this is not stated on the website.

On the last batch I read that bleeding was essential to get full performance out of the seat post but mine seems ok at the moment.

I have mailed crc but haven’t received a reply as yet.
