    Try http://www.realcycles.com

£129.99 a full set. Good brakes, I'm running them, 180 on the front, 160 on the back on my Meta.

TBH, I think you'll have to move house.

You know, I used to be lost on STW, as to who were the regulars and who was trolling/just passing by.

    Now it's blantantly obvious :D

As for the weather, I'm always amazed that people are surprised that forecasts are wrong. I'll always beleive that there's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes….

Seriously, this whole 29er vs 26er thing is getting annoying.

I can't see every mountain bike running 29" wheels within the next 5 years, and nor can I see it being positively received by every rider.

You seem to be getting a bit of vignetting in the first one…

Like the handheld riding shot, slight rotation clockwise would do the job.

Need to bring my kit out with me more.

    Hi racefaceec90,

I'm also like you in that I suffer from depression. The best thing I found was to ride with like minded people. Being out with a group is the best way to get motivated, well for me anyway.

Stick at it, you'll soon find the want to get out on your own and only come home when your lungs and legs have totally given up!

I was best man back in May and got a very nice Cross pen with the date engraved, as did the other lads in the groom party. Was well chuffed, and I use it everyday in work.

Ecky, CRC do an Endura swingarm protector, I have just got mine through the post, £5.99.

With regards the paintwork, my 3 is black, so it’s marked pretty badly already. Have about 5-6 frame patches on it though….

I think the old traingular swingarm was more stiff, torsionally.

Still, I much prefer the 09 swingarm, and it’s all about looks, right? ;)

Colin I ran my Meta with a lot less pressure than is suggested in the literature

Thanks Shandy. The rear is running at about 150psi. I’m 6ft, 13st. Will knock a bit of pressure off that and see how that feels.

I’ve had my Meta 5.5.3 almost two weeks now and it’s going great so far. Still struggling to set up the rear shock correctly for me, but so far it’s a confidence inspiring bike. Rear end grips really well on technical climbs.

I believe cracked frames were due to a faulty batch, and have been replaced under warranty.

    I blame the boogie.

It has quite a steep seat tube angle, could be something to do with it.

I don’t think it’s that bad tbh. My shock is running quite firm at the minute, so that probably helps. There’s certainly no pedal bob of note.

Thanks. I tried a normal cap but the threads began too far inside the cap for them to catch the threads on the valve.

I’ve just bought a Meta 5.5.3. Fantastic 5″ trail bike, really enjoying mine at the minute. I’m riding stuff I couldn’t and hitting things faster.

And at that price, the 5.5.2 is a great bargain IMO.

The choice of correct tyre totally confuses me.

I’m running 2.35″ Rampage SC’s front and rear. No idea what pressures, i’ll guess around 35psi each. They were recommended so I bought them.

Was, and still am, a decent footballer. Represented my school, been on the books for the junior side of an Irish League club when I was 15. Still play. Could play a good round of golf when I put my mind too it. Was utterly pathetic at rugby.

And I’m an extremely average mountain biker, but love it the most out of all the sports I’ve been involved in.

I have the 2009 Revelation 409 140mm travel on my Meta. I believe that the difference between the 429 and 409 was the 429 had an external wastegate and maybe slightly lighter. Great fork by the way. For 2010 they get blackbox damping over the existing motion control system and have 150mm travel out of the box.

I love that Sheldon Brown photo.

I hate the chain. And it’s grit attracting properties. I normally spray Muc-Off degreaser on it and scrub like a beehotch with a tough brush to clean it. Rinse, Dry it up, then re-lube it.

Might try dry lube next time though.

However, I do like a nice pair of womens kebabs.

Quite frankly If I’d have seen 4 girls on the trailside, I’d have got all nervous asking if they needed help and get the words wrong.

    Thanks wors.

I switched for a few reasons. The hardtail was a bit too steep for me, I have been progressing nicely in the skills department, and felt the need to get something more slack to suit. I was hitting things faster and harder, so that’s the decision I made. My lower back also take a pounding on longer rides, so this should help with that.

Still have the hardtail thought, I might build it back up to a commuter spec bike for work if I can’t sell the frame/forks/wheels from it.

    Don’t believe everything you read.

Is the Anthem X frame warrantied to take 130mm forks? Do you really need the extra travel? Are you riding those trails you mention already, on your Anthem with standard travel?

I applaude Ernie for his winding up.

Lisburn Road, about a mile from where I live.

Romas, meh, other things to worry about. This country/province/sectioned part of the UK has bigger things to be worrying about.

    Hi David,

If it’s any help I’ve had depression for over 2 years now. One of the best things I found is simply to surround yourself with the people you love, friends and family. Eat well too, it’s a big part of how you’ll feel physically.

I’ve also stopped getting seriously stressed about work, and concentrate on doing the things I love outside of work.

You work to live, not live to work.

Not an awful lof of overheads. My local trails are er, local, so I ride there. If a go away to other trails, usually £10-20 on fuel and something to eat.

I’d say a few hundred quid a year. But it’s my hobby, enjoy it, so I don’t look on the money as an issue.

I’m completely the opposite at the moment. Can’t get out enough.

Pick up my new bike on Thursday night, so i’ll be ithcing to get out even more.

As others have said, it’ll come back to you. I rode once this year between January and March, then it just came back and been riding 2-3 times a week since.

    Crickey, talk about timing.

My rear is very loose, as of yesterday. Tightened last night, no better.

    hmmm
