My big issue is oil. Even using Fenwicks degreaser neat it doesn’t remove the slimey paste that is always on my chain.

Hope sh1t shifter has been the best I’ve used.

Ha, well I see where you may be going with this. I do like the idea of this place being adfree, but I’m a very sporadic user.

I was prescribed them for a short while. Had to come off them as they made me very very sleepy! So, might just work for you. Best of luck.

    aracer, how are you today?

Just logged in today and spotted this thread. I’m another one who can level with you having suffered from depression and anxiety most of my adult life. I still haven’t found any answers and still get more bad days than good. Today included. It sounds cliché, but just go and do something that you know makes you feel good, no matter how big or small.

my current skill level(meager though it is)

I can confirm that is utter b******s.

Anyway, 2 weekends ago I took my first ever coaching day. For jumping, primarily. I learnt a lot from the day. My jumping confidence is zero. Do I think it was worth it? For me, yes. Have I improved since then? No. I need to practice, and practice lots. OP, you’ve come across to me as a bit of a bellend, but fair play in sparking a reasonably sensible set of replies. Interesting to see what people think.

That’s a bit of a pain, but aw well. I’m racing, lets hope there isn’t too much wind and rain.

Really love the Giant Anthem. If I had a spare grand I’d snap one up from Pauls Cycles

I’ve decided not to ride tonight. Enjoy, hopefully next time.

Thanks for the replies. I have some lights, just on charge at the moment.

    Are lights essential?

Hi. I might be there. If I’m not there at 8, I’ll not be coming. Blue BMW estate, yellow Nukeproof.

    Hi all,

Got the second top cap removed. Unsure as to how I can remove the front bearings. Do they sit on a slight lip inside the hub body which would make it impossible to push out from the opposite side?

Ordered the wrong type of bearings for the front anyway after misinformation I found online.

    Thanks again
    Colin

One side removed, other is refusing. Bugger it, I’ll try again another day.

njee20, yea, I’m pretty sure that is the case. My main frustration is removing the caps on the front. The issue is, unless I’m being daft, is that once I remove the adaptors there’s nothing for me to grab on top to lever out the caps….

Hi. Didn’t get out yesterday unfortunately. Really struggling to put my leg over the bike :(

Ah bugger, I was hoping to get out on this ride tonight but I forgot to charge my light batteries. I haven’t been out much since my Scotland trip in September and need to start getting out again regularly.

I was there and it was okay. Stages 2 & 3 were the pick.

I felt dreadful on the day but managed 111th overall, 26th in masters.

Not sure if I will do the Lee Quarry round next month….

I’ve got major play in my rear triangle. Going to strip it down tonight and also fit the replacement bushing kit I never got around to fitting. I have noticed that the rear shock moves side to side on the bottom bushing by 1-2mm. Not impressed with the build quality.

Superstar Switch EVO’s and EN321’s. Been faultless for me. I did have XT hubs before the EVO’s which did need regular maintenance. The 321’s are bombproof, few slight flat spots and kinks on the rear, but otherwise they’ll just keep going and going.

Mixed feelings for me too. An absolutely amazing sight and sound, but I can’t quite wrap my head around the world wars, and every other war for that matter.

Out around Rossendale and the surrounding area on Saturday, possible Lee/Cragg Quarry on Sunday. Looking forward to getting on the bike this weekend, only been on it once in 3 weeks.

For me, it was over 10 years. Stopped mountain biking (dicking about in the woods on my Raleigh Activator) when I was about 13/14, and got back into it 6 years ago. Longest break since then is probably about 2 months, most likely during winter.

Morning all. Well I’ve been here just over a week and so far so good. It’s been hectic, what with settling into work etc, but everyone has been really nice and really supportive. I made it out to Lee Quarry on Sunday which I enjoyed, but would like to find something a bit more local.

I still don’t have my bearings and I’m pretty much relying on SatNav for anything outside a two mile radius from the house! Is there any need for so many motorways? ;)

    Good morning all.

Well I have been here a week now and managed my first ride out to Lee Quarry and the surrounding area yesterday with the help of a few locals.

I’m looking for something more local for evening spins, I did here mention of a Monday night pub ride. I’m in Royton and would ideally like to cycle from the house :)

Hope to meet up with some of you soon!

    Cheers
    Colin
