So…. initial impression are…. it’s a bit s#*t. UI is awful. Took about half an hour to connect to my tablet (iPad). Finally connected to my trainer, but wont recognice my HRM. Trawled online and tried everything such as disconnecting the HRM from any other device. It works on everything else apart from Zwift. I’m guessing it must be iPad related then. Anyone had this issue? I have a standard Garmin chest strap HRM which is ANT+. Hoping to try again tonight for my first proper ‘ride’.

Thanks for the info. It’s a Tacx Flow Smart trainer, and I don’t have a power meter.

I’ll get it set up this weekend for some benchmark tests.

Rejoice! Finally got my hands on an axle for my Tacx after 6 months of having one on order with Garmin. Sigma had one in stock when I randomly checked on Wednesday. Ordered and arrived today. Fitted and ready to go. I have a 1 month free trail for Zwift. I’m starting with almost no fitness these days, what can I jump into for 60-90 minutes at a steady pace?

Hopefully this is the beginning of getting my fitness back.

Watched the England game last night. They really are dung. Some great individuals, but they struggled to break down a very average Austrian team. They are so boring to watch. Nice to see Saka get his first goal though.

If your wanting to tighten something to 5nm you don’t really want to use a wrench that starts at 5.

Why not? Do torque wrench manufacturers state that in their instructions?

Just been thinking about getting a torque wrench. Which Norbar one do people have? There seems to be multiple part numbers for the same thing…..

Also, the 1-20Nm seems to be obsolete. Now replaced with the 4-20Nm version.

I’ve been through all this. I’m 38. I’m at a point right now where I’m almost about to throw the towel in on it. Zero everything, motivation, skills, fitness. There is hope for sure that you can get better. I’ve had 2 MRIs, multiple physio visits, confirmed slipped discs. I have lower back stiffness every day. Some better than others. Sciatica comes and goes.

    Try to keep active.

Great job! Was certainly hot this weekend. I managed my first road ride in almost 6 months on Saturday morning, but only a lowly 34 miles.

Can I ask if anyone has experienced, or feel we should receive a duty of care from our employers?

We are asked to fill out a request form which stipulates that our customer must provide us with COVID secure guidelines for visiting site. We also must have the correct PPE etc. I’m still getting a lot of uncertainty from customers about doing visits unless absolutely necessary.

Nice work. I am planning on riding my road bike for the first time since December, in the morning. Probably around 30-40 miles depending on how I am feeling. I’ve only done about 3 bike rides in 2021 so far and feeling like I am right at square one with fitness.

A polish wont do much for overall protection, you’ll need a good sealant or something for that. By all means, prep the paint beforehand and include polishing if you want. But for long term protection, something like AF Glisten for example. See here: https://www.autofinesse.com/en/shop/protect

There are so many options these days, when I was into detailing 10 years ago it was much easier to pick the right product.

Sorry to hear all that. Is it possible that he will view the op as just something that he had to go through to fix his jaw rather than feeling that in retrospect, it could have been a way out?

Much better now after my jab on Sunday, but still feel pretty tired. Although that’s normal these days. My partner had her 2nd jab on Saturday and had no side effects after getting it rough first time around. She had the AZ.

    Okay, will try that. Cheers.

Thanks for the replies everyone. The wheels were complete builds from CRC/Nukeproof, pre taped with valves. Had a look back on my Strava, I think the wheels have been ridden about 10 times in total since I bought them.

.WHY HAVEN’T YOU JUST CHANGED THE COLOUR OF THE BELTS ON THE SCANNING SECTION FROM BLACK TO ANOTHER COLOUR THAT WONT CAUSE ANY ISSUES?!

This is actually solved easier than that. I work for a sensor manufacturer and we are hugely experienced in this kind of thing. Sensors can be setup in different ways to detect and object, and this scenario you have two options. Setup a ‘window’ which is theoretically from below the belt to a fixed distance above it, or use ultrasonic. It is not effected by colour, and you can set it up to detect the belt. Anything over it is detected. I have approached a couple of recycling companies who make waste handling systems and they seem to be stuck their ways.

The plastics issue is something that really bothers me personally.

I’m not aware of any of the above identifying as anything other than “male” or “female”, yet how they express themselves and their gender differs massively

So are you suggesting that any of those people using male or female should reconsider?

Sorry, not sure how best toword that question!

I genuinely don’t see a link between peoples gender and how they express themselves. Certainly anyone I’ve ever met in my walk of life. What has always stood out to me is how a person conducts themselves, not based on whether they are male or female.

Must admit, I’m none the wiser after 3 pages myself in regards to how people are handling this.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

And there is the issue, could be this, could be that. It’s going to cost me at least some new rim tape which I hear is not easy to fit.

    What is a mushroom patch?

They don’t have a timetable as such, but flights are usually late morning/early afternoon. Get FR24 and set a filter on it and keep an eye out.

Anyone thinking 2024 is a safe bet for European holidays?

Considering most flag carrier airlines think it will be 2024/25 before pre-covid levels of traffic, i’d say you’re not far wrong.

Discussed a potential ski trip next year and I’m not really confident as I don’t think it would happen. This thing is another 2-3 years away before it has settled on a global scale.

Spotted a few Posiedons recently on FR. We get lots of A400/Hercs OTT here in Manchester, occasionally a circuit or two into MAN.

I had my first dose on Sunday morning, Pfizer. Almost fainted in the waiting area. Felt fine when I got home but then a bit ropey on Sunday evening. Been off yesterday and today, completely exhausted, circles of nausea, and a headache on top. I’m 38 btw.

Well, at least you got axles. I got another email from Garmin this morning to tell me my Tacx thru axle for the turbo trainer I bought in January is delayed agian until at least July. 6 months for a threaded bar.

Yea, this weather has been grim. Booked into a camp site next weekend in the Lakes and the long term forecast looks crap. I’ll be sacking it off if it is due to rain. I’d rather not spend my first holiday in over a year spent in a tent in the rain.

Chocolate muffin and 2 jam rings. Breakfast was an apple and some cereal.

Just spotted some club biscuits in the cupboard.

Any bit of wonder I get out of breath after coming up the stairs.

I’m booked, but have since got a couple of texts asking me to book. I’m guessing a few systems aren’t synced with each other.

So, to add to my year of injury woes, I now have a Bakers cyst behind my left knee. Likely due to my ongoing knee issues.

Looks like even more time out. I’m just depressed with it now.

I bragged last year that after all my years of playing football I’d never really had any knee issues.

Has anyone had a Bakers cyst? I’ve been told full recovery could take a couple of months.

That second goal from City last night was a joy to watch.

PSG are everything I hate about modern football. I can’t stand Neymar JR.

This thread has highlighted how bad I must be at bleeding brakes. Have tried several times with my M8000’s, and they still have the issue.

I have a good one about my dad in the 70s in Belfast. He was walking home after seeing my mum which involved going passed a bit of a hotspot. My dad was by himself as a large group were walking towards him. He knew if he crossed the road, they would go after him. He stayed put and the large group of around 20 split as my dad walked down the middle. Genuinely fearing for his life, he heard a voice ‘alright Eddie?’ My dad quickly replied but kept his head down. The next day in work a colleague came up to him and told him he was in the group and that if he didn’t know of my dad, they would have given him a good hiding. A few were armed. The guy didn’t know my dad that well, only really by name.

Hey Eddie. Hope you are okay fella. Struggling much the same these days, it’s a tough life but I’m sure there is a way. Be kind to yourself.

I think where we are now is the height of our freedoms this year.

Maybe a short dive into some travelling and indoor socialising, but restrictions pulled back in for the winter.

Reading articles of an upcoming economic boom. When? 2-3 years time?

I reckon you’d easily get a Hero 7 Black for that sort of money? Try and get one with the image stabilisation.

Christ on a bike. What a crazy 24 hours for football.

My love for the game has been waning for years, and this is pretty much the final huge nail in the coffin for me.

I’m not sure what to think. One part of me thinks this is just a huge bluff, the other that it could change football for ever. But I wish it was how it was about 20 years ago and stayed that way.

I remember trying to sell the Mitsubishi Alpha programmer in place of basic PLCs, for basic jobs. But it never took off. People didn’t seem to want to embrace a slightly different way of doing things, ladder vs boolean, and they thought the hardware was much inferior. It was so much cheaper, too.

Yes, security is an issue, but can be solved. IO-Link itself is at the bottom of the hiearchy, and is point to point comms (serial, basically). MQTT is making use of it. But security solutions are out there, like for many cloud based solutions. I’ve just done some basic training on MQTT, using free demo software to access the sensors sitting on my desk. Basic passords etc can be set-up easily. I understand proper security goes way beyond that.
