I think I have a man crush on Seb. He speaks so well and genuinely tries to do what is best with what he can influence.

    Interesting topic.

We have a 15 month old working cocker spaniel. Have posted a few things about him before. I regret it and I don’t regret it. Sometimes that is a 50/50 split, other times very much leaning towards regret. I wasn’t sold on the idea but my girlfriend has wanted one all her life. A puppy was always going to be difficult and I laid out my reservations very clearly beforehand. Anyway, 15 months later and we have a fairly good dog that can’t be left alone and is in full teenager mode. Our lives have been changes a lot by him. However, I have to try and see the positives. He is very sweet, and he is great to have around the house. He is always excited to see everyone, however his off lead work is very difficult. His recall goes out the window when other dogs are around. My gf has put a huge amount of work into training which is ongoing and it is very slowly starting to show. I do miss him if I’m away for a couple of days, so he must be having some affect on me. Oh, and as someone above aluded too, the thought of outliving him does make me very sad.

Would I get another one after him? Maybe, as I’ll likely be in my 50s and it will fit my lifestyle better.

My weight doesn’t concern me as such, it’s what I eat. I think my insides are of a 20st man who eats 10 maccies a day.

Stcolin do you do pressure sensors for hydrogen?

Unfortunately not. We do have process automation products, but not pressure. I’m involved in factory automation, so inductive, photoelectric, ultrasonic etc.

Been doing this over 20 years now, and often found wondering if I can get away from sales and more involved in something more technical.

Those begineer Yoga videos crack me up. Assumes everyone has the suppleness of the person doing the video. I can’t even do the first one ffs!

Good luck with the challenge. I have been trying to do a begineer FTP builder on Zwift, but now 4 weeks have passed and I’ve only managed 2 weeks worth.

An ex of mine took me to see The Feeling, in Belfast, Mandella Hall in the students union. I’d say this was maybe 2005 or so. Was expecting it to be rubbish, and they were great. Sound was great and they played to the audience really well.

One colleague is still positive at day 10

My girlfriends mother was the same, maybe even longer. Her husband fortunately had been in hospital getting his routine antib’s for his COPD/Pseudomonas, but then they wanted to send him home despite going back to a house with a positive case with strong symptoms. He was basically told to go home and the staff were really forceful about sending him home. When it was questioned they basically said ‘not our problem, you have your vaccines’. He’s not tested positive, yet. Pretty sure if he gets it, he dies.

I’m getting a lot of texts about getting my booster. I have had 2 jabs, and then got covid over Christmas. Can’t seem to find any info on when I can get my booster after having covid.

I’m up in Inners for 4 days at the end of April. Agree with the above, angry sheep, green wing, are great. I also like IXS and 39 steps (these maybe be linked) and found those in middle in terms of difficulty. Date night etc, were/are out of my league.

I think RB and Max will run away with it this year. I’ll be watching that midfield battle.

I was 13 years at my first ever job. Left it to move here, almost 8 years ago. On my last day, I had to catch the ferry that evening to get over here. Wasn’t even offered to leave early. Thankfully I’d learnt over the 13 years to expect nothing from those f##kers.

    Enjoy the tour of Europe!

We have toyed with the idea of moving for about a year. We hear more horror stories than good ones. But my desire to get out of Manchester are strong right now and have been for a few years, so watch this space….

So, who’s taking bets on some fresh restrictions within the next month? At no point in the pandemic have I known so many people to be getting it, many for a second time.

Lucky you. I’ve had one just at my stomach and the last time I saw a doctor he told me to ignore it unless I was in agony. Sometimes it hurts after exercise and it is sticking out enough to notice.

3 people I know have come down with it recently have been really unwell, including my boss who never takes time off and it has apparently floored her properly. She is seriously fit, cycles hundreds of miles a week and is a world masters track cycling gold medalist. Definitely seems to be gaining traction again.

Well the settings were way off, so adjusted to suit me. I’ve followed the DVO guide, not the Ibis guide. I hear the forks take a few rides to bed in. I’ve heard great things from the Giant Reign FB group I am in, they got specced on high end Reigns for a couple of years.

Just had our email from bulb. Bills going up 80% for us. We don’t have a big bill as there is only the two of us, but it really is going to hit so many people so hard.

I mean, it’s the threat of nuclear war that scares me most of all, and I would think any direct NATO involvement would push the conflict into that realm.

I’m struggling to see how we can be (partly) to blame for this. Surely it doesn’t matter that we buy his oil and gas? If he always wanted to old gang back, he would do it anyway?

    stcolin

I fear it’s only going to take one incident involving a NATO asset to start the next world war. Accidental or not, I think the fuse is getting very close to the fire.

Anybody else seriously struggling to concentrate on work with this shit going on?

Absolutely. I was only beginning to feel my normal self again this last month or so, as we got through the worst of the pandemic. I worried more for others than myself. And now this. I feel quite ashamed to admit that something happening in another country makes me feel seriously anxious.

Is there a serious threat of nuclear war because of this, or at the very least the UK being attacked directly? The more I read about this, the more I get confused at what the outcome might be.

will those growing up now feel the same about Climate change

Oddly, I have been very conscious of this since my teens, in the 90s, and I actually don’t know why it started. I think before I die I will see a real struggle for resources leading to a possible world war.

    fascinating

It’s definitely that, but I wouldn’t put it at the top of the list. Frightening, is my first thought.

I thought the hierarchy would at least give us 6 months of respite after covid before starting another world war.

All this, and it’s a Monday. I’d absolutely just kill myself if it came to complete nuclear war.

So after way too much internal debate, I decided to place an order for an Ibis Ripmo AF. I prefer the spec, Shimano drivetrain, brakes, and the DVO Suspension (not that I will know exactly what I’m doing with it), and dealing with a LBS.

The Spectral was great value, but with a long lead time and the SRAM gearing, maybe I wasn’t 100% sold on it despite the spec and geometry. I did think about the Spectral 125, but I think I would maybe end up wishing I had more travel too many times.

However, I still have an element of doubt with the Ibis. Not sold on the looks, and the complex linkage made up of bearings and bushings, worries me a bit for long term reliability. But I can’t fault the spec and the price. I hope the sizing works for me, I went for the XL. It felt right in the shop. I also tried a large, but it felt just like my Reign in terms of reach which is something I wanted to change.

I didn’t count on this process being so stressful tbh. I’ve parted with a lot of cash, I hope I have made the right choice.

Yea, it’s quite the minefield. My 2016 is pretty conservative compared to the latest modest geo. I’m 186cm with a 92cm inseam and long arms, Canyon puts me on a large for all models.

I find myself in quite a pickle! Have a Spectral 29 AL 6.0 on back order. Then got my eyes turned by a Ripmo AF, and now my head has been turned once again with this 125!!

    Urgh.

The size large fits me well

    What height are you?

I have a Spectral AL6.0 on order in large.

So it looks my order for the Spectral has been pushed out by a month, taking it to the end of April. That’s going to be mighty tight for my Scotland trip. I might have to look elsewhere. Good thing with Canyon is that they don’t take payment until two weeks before shipping for at least I’m not out of pocket. This caught my eye….

But some reviews suggest build quality isn’t great and it’s a bit burly for a trail bike.

    when my skillset runs out

Well if that was my method I’d need a full on DH bike.

I’ve ordered a Spectral AL, due end of March. I just can’t look passed the spec for the money, and couldn’t quite justify the extra £800 for a carbon frame on the Jeffsy. Specs are broadly similar. Not sure I will get on with the Code R brakes, those might go and replaced with Shimano.
