Just Noticed that two of the Scott MTB Marathon date clash with SXC’s , that’s areal shame…

Just had major surgery on my shoulder after persevering for a long time with a problem. I can confirm shoulder injuries take a long time to heal. See a shoulder specialist if you can.

Hi, Anyone know what the conditions are like in the Grand Massif at the moment? Seen some forecast that say there’s been snow, others say its warm.

Supplementary question, which site has the most reliable snow reports

    Cheers

I had mine done around 9 years ago, don’t recall it being too painful tbh, although you do get some reasonably strong pain killers. That said I didn’t take them for too long as they spaced me out….

Had no issues with the knee since, ski’d every year since & still race XC.

Ski’d in Austria a few times this season & found it cheaper to book online than directly in the hire shops. Saved around 20 euros for two of us. Skiset on Alpineresort both good.

Anyone Skied in Kaltenbach & if so what’s it like? I’m thinking of taking a trip down there from Munich.
    Thanks

I’m a qualified FA coach, whilst I was doing my Level 2 course a few of us asked the FA coach educator for some tips on how to include those of lesser ability in the sessions we run. His response was “tell them to find another sport”.
He’d only ever been a coach with pro clubs & was an ex pro so had probably never seen true grass roots sport.

Yeap all the time, I stopped off at the new Wind Hill site & (briefly)watched the gravity types doing their thing whist out on one of my regular XC loops around Longleat Forest & Salisbury Plain. All looked good fun & there was some nice skills from some.
However I still can’t believe its as good as giving it the berries along some single track on a fast XC bike for a few hours, yes it makes you work hard but for me that’s what its about.

Ferrals, i think the gap jump has gone at Wasing. Wasn’t in for SXC Rnd 1. Better off practicing your drop offs for the big A line..
    Hope its drier than SXC.

I’ve run a single N/W chain ring (1×10) with no front mech but retained an inner 22 chain ring for emergencies, i.e really steep stuff or if the legs are feeling it. I don’t run a chain guide & have a clutch mech, the inner ring also acts as a chain catcher on the rare occasion the chain has dropped.
    Works well for me.

I actually found 11 spd SLX shifters to be slicker than XT, the advantage of the XT being multi shift. 11 spd XT seems to be far more “notchy”.
Not tried 11 spd XTR but previous versions were very slick compared to the others.

Thanks guys & thanks for the set up tips, I think they’re worth a try compared to the price of a new XT & a decent quality extender. :-)

I bought some cheap Nevica gloves on Amazon about 4 years & intended to get a more expensive pair when I saw some I liked. Still using them, they’re water proof warm & durable, nothing not to like.

If you look at XC racing fields its pretty much the same, the vets category 40-49 is still popular but the Grand Vets 50-59 fields are far smaller. Hard to believe these guys just stop riding though.

Is it because you continually stop when MTB waiting for mates etc etc (eg little intervals)where as on the road you don’t tend to?
