why not arrange to pay cash when you pick it up ?
Once you've got the bike outside and are ready to do the deal go for the wallet and instead pull out a rounders bat and give it to him. Straight between the eyes in a downward motion is best – maximum pain without killing him.stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree Membersettle – malham tarn – streets gate – arncliffe cote – under kilnsey crag to pub for 2 pints of Guiness and a cheese and onion sarnie – mastiles lane – settle
stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree Memberdon’t know about ostriches but Primary cultured human hepatocytes are commonly used to assess the potential for CYP induction.
stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree Memberdon’t do it – couple of things to consider
working 5 days for 4 days pay = 20% pay cut
if theres enough work for 5 days they should pay for 5 days. (eg.my sons firm are on a 4 day week to make the work last longer not just as a cost cutter)
if they put it in writing and are asking you to sign it becomes contractual, therefore, working 4 days is all thats required and legally they can’t touch you for not working 5. But be careful of other spurious ways to get at you at work – just ensure you are on time, don’t take to longon breaks and do exactly whats expected of you and they’ll find it hard to have a go.
Also, if people are willing to work 5 days for 4 days pay what incentive is there for the company to go back to paying 5 days.
People who work for nothing are mugs – unfortunately it’s a lot more common than you think – office workers just hanging back 15mns to finish off etc. People working in call centres been told to make sure there pc is up and running before their shift starts (it only takes 5-10mins but it’s your 5-10mins),site workers clearing away – all unpaid overtime. You work to live not live to work (i hope) so if its not paid don’t play!
join a union, get your colleagues to join, organise, get better T&C’s , it’s your job – look after it.
Up the workers!stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree Member

1 x deore 9 speed cassette £20
1 x on-one mini multi tool £5

Well worth a visit.
stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree Memberyou’re not her union rep so would not be expected to offer anything other than support.
support been – taking notes on her behalf, if you feel up to it.a union rep would be able to fully represent. they’d have access to the redundancy policies, should be aware of the selection process and should be able to advise on suitable redeployment etc.
Unions – if you’re not in one, join one. You will need them one day.
and it keeps me in work 😳
stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree Memberthanks for the info.
Not sure where we are camping – we are driving up there Thursday and meeting up with some of my wifes friends.
I’ll try find out exactly where and get back.
driving to ride may not be an option, and i’d prefer not to.cheers!
stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree Member64 miles off road in North York Moors 11hrs including a decent rest at lunch time and a couple of mechanicals. This was back in the daysbefore decent lights were common and we found ourselves racing the onset of darkness in the mist on Rosedale Moor – aaahhhh ! Them were the days.
110 miles (approx.) on road.
Set off to work one morning – sun was shining, slight breeze, legs felt good. Prospect of spending 8 hours in a hot factory towing my b#ll#x off was less than appealing – so I rode straight past work stopped at a phone box, called in sick, phoned the missus to tell her what i was doing and a few hours later found myself in Malham stretching out on the green eating ice cream, waiting for missus and kids to turn up. She forgot the bike rack and with the prams etc there was no room for the bike so I had to ride back. Happy days.stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree Membermy missus made some flapjak yesterday – its got pine nuts in it and no flour.
just got back from a 35 mile ride and thats all we ate – as good as any energy bar i’ve had. Thanks love !
as for drinks i used to swear by powerbar psp – but lately i’ve gone back to half water half fruit juice with a dash of salt.
stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree MemberOnline ordering for the Classic Weekender should running sometime later today.

stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree Memberwe (bad brains mbc) did it last year setting off in the dark to watch the sunrise from the summit.
the llanberis path is fairly easy to follow to the summit – we were blessed with godd weather and fantastic views at dawn.
the weather is the main concern -you need to carry enough gear to be prepared for all conditions. layer up and take a good water and wind proof jacket, carry at least one extra top, more food and drink than you need, at least a foil blanket if not a survial bag just in case , a wooly hat is also a good idea,a whistle, a map, compass and GPS (not essential but handy) in case of low cloud/mist/fog etc.
golden rule is if the weather does turn against you, turn back – don’t be a hero
stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree Memberwe are gonna need a saddle
£255some skewers
£85and some pedals
£312stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree Memberi’ve had three major crashes where wearing a helmet has saved my life at least once and saved me from serious injury if not death on the others.
1. flipped straight over bars by totally c#cking up a drop on the Mary Townley Loop ,landed head first into some boulders splitting a Giro Zen – wasn’t sure who I or where I was for about an hour after (but carried on riding -thanks Dave!!!) when I took the helmet back the shop accused me of smashing it with a sledge hammer
2. hit side ways on by a Volvo that not only knocked me over, but proceeded to drive over the top of me – much happier to have it drive over my helmet than my actual head.
3. head first into the back of a camper van (he reversed out of a concealed entrance) – suspected brocken neck, paralysed from waist down for 2 days , fortunately neck not brocken but some damage done to spine. Neuro-surgeon was quite clear that the Etto helmet, although in bits, had done what it was designed to do and judging by the damage done to the van (with my head) and state of helmet; without it I would not be here. I’d just found out I was gonna be a dad for the second time the day before – so without that cabbage style hat my wife could well have been left to bring up two very young boys on her own.
NO HELMET NO RIDE ! Unless of course you’re one of those people with relly thick skulls 😉
stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree MemberSimon – I went to the Klunkerz showing last night. It was a good night, very nice pint by the open fire in the pub opposite beforehand. was pleasantly surprised when arrived at the venue and there was a bar – bottle of Newcastles own fighting brew thank you. The film was very good – great insight in to the evolution of the mountan bike. Gary’s Q&A was very intresting, he came across as very passionate about cycling. Had a chat with him after, very approachable (i’ve met him before soI knew he would be)
But the highlight of the evening had to be his suit – WOW!
You had to see it to believe it – hope someone has some pics to post up – could possibly be persuaded to get one for work etc.Top bloke – top night – cheers Chevin 😀
stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree MemberMorgans Spice and Sailor Jerrys are the usual ‘sweet’ spiced rums on offer in bars. IMO they are best suppedon there own without mixer.
Havanna Club rum is available as a 1 year (clear) 3 year (amber) and 7 year (dark) – these are my favourites with the the 3 year been the best. Its also proper Cuban rum (unlike the big pretender bacardi)
Use the one year to make Mojito, the 3 year for Cuba Libre and the 7 year to warm your cockles from the hip flask on a night ride.
stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree Memberi got my Oakley Square Wires, with transition lense, from Vision Express. I’m very happy with them- i also paid £20 to cover all my specs for replacement or repair if they get scratched or damaged, so dont have to worry toomuch when wiping trail crap off with your shirt
stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree Memberkings new clothes
the basic outline design of any saddle has been the same for over 100 years now. Minor tweaks have been made (love grooves etc.) and material and density (leather, kevlar, gel etc.) so what is the point in changing something that works. Improve upon the basic design = yes . Total re-design = no
i would suspect that the design above has not been designed by people who have been around cycling that long (if at all) for one the bike in the picture is some what basic (flite wouldn’t advertise their new saddle design on a raleigh activator would they) secondly, how do you get in and out of the saddle, fore and aft movement etc. and how do you ‘perch’ for climbs ?RUBBISH !
stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree Memberi got my oakley square wires with the new type reactalite lenses from vision express – bit pricey (‘cos there oakleys ) but well chuffed with them
stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree Memberas long as you are at your workstation on time you are OK
you are employed from the times stated on your contract
if you worked in a factory with machines would he apply the same principal i.e. that you must be in work before your shift starts to ensure all the oil, coolant levels are ok, the hydraulic pressure is set,etc.etc. so you can start producing ay the start of your shift – if he did he’d get lynched ! it’s bad management machine/workplace set up time should be factored into all jobs.the working time directive is there to protect yours and your colleagues, mates, families health and quality of life – don’t let the bosses make a mockery of it !
i’ve tackled numerous employers on both of these issue and won every time – join a union, get others at work to join, organise. and don’t let the ‘credit crunch’ hardtimes b#llsh#t be used to excuse bad management, or bully you into accepting cr@p !!!!
stAn-BadBrainsMBCFree MemberWortley Hall about 11mile south east of Holmfirth is now offering bed and breakfast accomodation for £22.50 per night.
Wortley is a great location to stay, the cross country and downhill trails of Wharncliffe are less than 3 miles away. Cut Gate is just a few miles further down the road and the Peak District is only over the hill.
Add to that staying in a stately home complete with secure lock up facilities and room to fettle your bike you won’t be disappointed.
contact Wortley Hall reception on 0114 2882100 or visit the website – http://www.wortleyhall.org.ukstAn-BadBrainsMBCFree Memberi hate messy cable routing (and don’t even get me started on how long some bikes have their front brake hose)
rear brake hose = from lever into guides on left hand side of frame.
rear mech cable = from shifter to centre guides without going round the stem/headtube
front mech cable = from shifter round head tube to guides on right hand side of frame.run it that way on both mountain bikes with top tube routing (old clockwork =above the tube guides, sanderson life, below the tube guides)
on the scott which has routing on/under the down tube i run
rear brake hose = from lever into guides on left hand side of frame.
rear mech cable = from shifter round head tube to guide on left crossing to guide on right at bottom of down tube
front mech cable = from shifter round head tube to guide on right crossing to left hand side of frame at bottom of down tube.work fine look neat
