Thanks psling, I forgot we done FOD year before last, we did both those rides. Really like it there and will definitely be back. I think we are spoiled having 9 decent length traffic free routes around here.

I;m in exactly the same position my eldest is 5 but has long legs looks like shes pearhched on the 14 inch bike, I was thinking of going for an 18inch there arn’t that many around perhaps a dawes blowfish. its the weight of 20″ bikes that put me off.

cost isn’t a massive issue as it will get used by my two other kids.

in the ye old days around here with rim brakes your rims would last no where near the life of a cup and cone hub but now we all disc brakes the hubs are now the weakest link, i’ve trashed a few hubs i’m not the best at looking after stuff had no problem with hope ones

Watched a film called Margin Call last night , i thought it was brilliant. link

Been watching nothing but films this christmas as my ribs are shattered and the whole family is ill.

Worst film was Bourne legacy, which was pointless. I enjoyed Spiderman 3 which I’d not watched due to its poor reviews much more than the amazing spiderman which was a bit meah.

Planning to watch Magic Mike and Mirrorball tonight

having just bought a caravelle, the last word i’d use to describe it as is cheap. I saved up for 5 years and could only afford a six year old one, it costs the earth to fill up, the tax is £475 and the insurance £750 with 8 years no claims. and they are notoriously un-reliable.

    absolutely love it though.

My other car is a new shape Galaxy and its a brilliant family, camping, biking car.

I’m on oral morphine + 3 other painkillers on account of smashing my ribs to bits falling on only patch of ice in Macc forest last weekend and then developing a severe chest infection. So i’ve had a few interesting dreams over xmas last nights was a very lucid dream about pulling cocktail sticks form my foreskin

I have a orginal note the best gadget I’ve ever had. Bought a nexus 7 never us it as the note covers phone and tablet duties. Its not that big I run with it and road cycle with it. I often can’t find it in my pockets. I don’t use the pen that much as swypwe works so well for text entry.

I not sure I agree that the forest of dean can be included in the north especially with the local accent. the kine should go ftom the humber to the dee rather than the severn

its also only 1h 40 to Macclesfield and there’s definitively a days full riding from there plus I’d take that over riding around a big wood in birmingham.

otherwise ditch and buys some deores or slx, i bought a load of hayes 9s when they were £30 quid an end from CRC. It was cheaper to replace than bleed and get new pads if not very enviromentally friendly, I gor fed up with the sticking and have replaced with Deores and I’m very happy.

    No from me too.

Next it will be motor cross then us.

We cause tons of erosion is some areas look at the sides of the roman road in edale in winter.

You get some knobs in 4X4s and on crossers but mostly they are friendly just like us enjoying been out in the countryside ( or are we special cause we use our lungs and legs to get there). I’ve been knock of my bike by a crosser on the long causway become he was inpet but I’ve also been knocked of my bike at Cannock because he was a twunt.

In that photo it a bit high, I use about 4-5 ratchet straps(like these to hold it in place in a more reclined position.

He did 2-3 hours in it no problem. I only use it on the traffic free routes we have in the peaks. But you’d be fine at centre parcs.

We have done this with our last two and it works fine, did the Manifold trail on Wednesday and he slept the whole way, he’s about 12 weeks old here

I consider myself to be pretty politically correct person however i always called a chinese takeaway a chinky and as far as i have ever known it was an abbreviation of chinese take away in the same way chippy is an abbreviation of fish and chip shop. It was only when my wife pointed out that it was offensive did itoccur to me that it was offensive.

At the end of the day its not really about what you think of the word it how others percieve it and you havevto respect their views.

my wife has just got a Boardman team mtb which looks fantastic and i doubt anything can match it for the price. I commute on a carrera subway i got in the sale and i doubt you’d get anything close for what i paid. I got back into biking about 10 years ago with the original carrera gryphon which was an awesome bike it weighed nothing as was really fast did me across the alps and kept up with club riders on carbon fibre boutique bikes
