just got 3 amazon fires for the kids, they love them. Consider the kids version not much more once you factor in buying a tough case and offers 2 years free replacements.

Its fine, I was up there last night no ice or snow in Charity Lane and 1 inch of lovely crunchy snow in the forest. Muddy around Teggs Nose and I don’t do the cheeky bits in the forest unless its frozen or dry.

My wife did born survivor at the end of September. Seemed to be 3 hours of queuing to get over various obsticles with a 10k walk. Thank god it was unseasonably warm or they’d have all got hypothermia.

Seems to be populated by teams from Miltery Fitness classes.

Not my cup of tea but I’ve got a few mates who love them.

I broke my Prophet over Christmas, threaded the BB, I’d just bought some forks for it but not fiited them. If hadn’t I’d probably have got a new bike.

I managed to get a Prophet frame off here which is lot nicer than mine plus I now have a spare swing arm and shock. It’s in the bike shop getting a thorough servicing.

It’s 1×10, has a 150mm bolt through forks, Hope hoops and has a dropper post and it’s slack and long – I could spend 3500 quid to get slightly bigger wheels and a bolt through rear end.

I now intend to keep it for a long time as it certainly more capable than me. I’m sure there will be a market for second hand bits for people keep their frames going and people looking for frames to keep their bits going.

i’m not that light so I don’t think a few grams won’t make a difference. A winter drive train is another option. I

But I wouldn’t be as comfortable on the supersix, my rides are sometimes 10 hours plus in the saddle I’ve had racier bikes in the past and not been happy with them.

I like Cannodales but like slippers i prefer something comfy than cool. Plus I don’t think the supersix has hyro brakes and a 1500g wheelset.
    .
After this winter riding in all the shit I thought i would be worth having a summer and winter road bike one with 28mm tyres, full guards, sturdy wheels and one lighter with nicer wheels etc. I could get a different bike but as everyone says comfort comes first I thought i could be worth sticking with the Grade

I’be been using the basic program since New Year. It’s good. It’s just helps you balance what you eat versus what you burn. It also serves to remind you how few IPA’S you need to consume to blow a whole rides calories. I was putting weight on at the end of last year despite training for the marathon. Lost over a stone since I started using it. It stops you from over compensating when you exercise which was my problem. It also forces you to measure what you eat. I also think weighing you self regularly is important. Over last summer despite getting really bike fit my weight drifed up by 5kg in a couple of months as I lost discipline with the beer. my times were improving as my endurance but I was putting weight on I never really noticed until someone pointed it out.

I’m back where I was a year ago and I hope to lose another stone in the next two months ready for the Manchester Marathon.

I think it was Jesus Jones at Leeds poly in 1989. Despite that i had great run of gigs 89-91 in my 5th year and 6th form as the Madchester thing kick off. My favourite gig around that time was the Wedding Present Christmas party at the Warehouse in Leeds cracking night.

I’ve got a GT grade, decide on a price and pick a model. There were some serious do discounting last summer. I’ve taken mine up some serious cols in the pyranees and done a 140 mile Audax on it. It’s just had mudguards fitted for winter road riding. It’s the most comfortable drop bar bike I’ve had. I also taken it off road and it felt better than my last cross bike.

I know he’s not to everyone’s cup of tea (my wife hates him), but Nick Cave has been making great records since the mid-80’s and apart from a couple of mediocre LP’s in the early 2000’s I’ve loved all his LP’s. His last one was his most successful and the Bad Seeds 15th.

The Eridinger Alkolfri is great as stated earier, it a wheat beer.
Doesn’t taste like real beer but its pleasant to drink but didn’t taste like wee either unlike alcohol free becks. Plus its rich in vitamins and isotonic so you can use it as a recovery drink

This year will be our 5th year in a row travelling to the pyranees with 3 kids. Always go from Portsmouth (from Macclesfield). Done it numerous ways. The easiest for us definitely taking the ferry to Santander. This year going to be epic 24 days 1 week in Noya near Bilbao, then a week in Andorra maybe a few days in Luchon and then a week in Argles Gasost.

Argles is good with quite a bit to do for families. We are staying in the Sunella in a chalet but it is the most expensive campsite ive ever stayed at. If you prefer something quieter Camping du lac up the valley is excellent.

We often stay at a campsite called predolugue in Luchon.

If you’ve got a road bike you can quickly access some many of the many of the famous tour cols from those two towns and if you set off early be back mid morning.

i have no problem with e bikes on trails. I’ll get one when i’m not fit enough to ride trails myself. I saw loads
in Europe this summer generally with old guys on them.

I also spent a few days road riding in Spain in the Val D,Aran just across the border from Luchon and it has a great network of trails but no lifts. You could see e bikes being used to promote usage without investing in lifts.

As for the power thing should we ban Julien Absalon from the trails or heaven forbid if Chris Froome took up mountain biking.

My Scandium Limba snapped in two along the downtube decending on the road from Ribblehead into Hawes. Really light bike too light for me replaced with a Kinesis which was a lot more solid.

I think this is elitist crap, for these areas to develop they better accommodation is needed. I for one love the hut networks in the alps and pyranees. I’d love not to have to carry a load of gear, in fact I’ve given up backpacking in the UK as hate carrying so much crap. It’s even worse in the UK as you always have to carry extra clothes as the weather is so rubbish. I see my friends who are hardened backpackers when they get into their fifties who have shifted to b&bs and having their bags portered, they would definitely use these huts.

I’d let it go, especially if she’s passionate another sport. What’s the point if she’s going to pack it in straight after getting the belt. I won’t mean anything to her in the long run.

I took my son for ages to football and he was into it I pulled him out when stated been disruptive. But a few years on he loves football and I’m ready to take him back now.

I’m 5’10 with short legs and long back. I often size up to a large. The medium fits me perfectly I tried the large and it was like a gate. If your normal proportions sounds your likely to be a a 53cm.

Beer at the Wahington Wizards basketball $12 a pint (at least it was good beer and not the crap they sell for £6 St the MEN)

A pub on the way home from my local loop charges over £2.50 for Soda and Lime. This is a discrace. I don’t mind paying the same mark up as they make from beer but not double. We don’t go there any more.

Cheers just checked it out £70 vs £170 makes it much more justifiable. I understand why the PhD bag is so expensive I have one of their jackets but for 3-4 night a year the alpkit one will do fine. I’m not going to be camping on the side of alpine ledge.

I so want one of their half bags but it would be such an indulgence for the number of times I’d use it. If one had been in the sale I might have gone for it.

    really useful thread,

I’m going 1×10 this week and was just about order 30t and some single speed bolts but found out i didn’t need them so just saved a £10.

I did an experiment a few weeks back rode from Macc to Castleton via Hayfield. tonnes of climbing didn’t use the 22 cog, did OK my easiest gear was 32 x34.

The last bit of the climb from Jaggers clough to Hope cross was hard but apart from that I managed it all. I’m going 30 x 11-36 but I’m keeping the 22 as a bale out for emergencies won’t use it most rides. We sometimes do 10-12 hour rides and hitting a hill at the end of one of them without the 22 or an expander ring would be tough.

But most of my riding the simplicity and the space for the dropper lever it will be worth it, if i find i’m using the 22 too much i’ll buy an expander.
