Prometheous/Covenant apart from being not very good, suffers from the same issues that crept into a lot of franchises lately trying to create a back story to the orginal that didn’t need to exsit. What was wrong with a crew finding a crashed spaceship that had been infected by an alien. We didn’t need a contived backstory that the aliens were created by a robot with daddy issues that belonged to the founder of their company. I’m sure in the next sequel we’ll find that the Nostromo didn’t happend across the crashed ship by accident so that everything can be tied up nicely

Other examples see spectre – every bad thing that happended to Bond was due to a jealous step brother.

Sherlock replace step brother with secret sister.

P.S Love Alien 3 first saw it on a pirate VHS shot in the with the wrong aspect ratio. Since then its star has been known to us as “gorney wea”.

Amzingly my sinus seem to have cleared up after about 15 months of grief. I was considering quiting swimming alltogther only using the steroids sparingly now not after and before every swim.

I’m just coming out of a post Lakesman slump having spent 2 years training to do it. Durham if you haven’t done it before it was a brilliant race this year.

Will do 2 out of Edale Skyline fell race, Manchester Marathon and Three Peaks Fell race

Signed up this weekend to the the Great North SwimRun in June 18 and and bought the swimrun specific wetsuit. I have no idea how I’m going to run a 20mile+ fell run in a wetsuit and swim 5K in trainers it looks good fun. But I like to set myself a challange that I’m not sure I can do.

I’m currently completely re-learning my swimming stroke and I’ve gone from being able to swim 2.5 miles in the summer to bearly been able to swim a length now.

I might do Outlaw full in July, I’m going focus on road biking after the Swimrun as I’m planning on cyling the Alps Marmotte Cycle route in August.

Firsly need to lose 2 stone :-).

Plagued with it for the past year or so took a break over the summer. First trip to a new pool and it was back.

I can’t get a nose clip to fit but a shot of pirinase before and after has kept it under control for the past few months. Not sure I want to be doing this forever though.

in the past three years, my wife has had a knee reconstructed, and tumors removed from her ankle and from her brain under her private health care. She’s had the top doctors and consultants in the UK deal with her.

I’d say her private healthcare was well worth it.

I decided not to see Nick Cave at the MEN despite been a massive fan and been offered a free ticket. Just not the right venue to see him.

I was at LCD soundsystem to be fair the warehouse project is the worst venue to see a band in the world. The floor dips in the middle so no one can see. You had a to choose between seeing the band and not hearing them or vice versa. Plus they massively oversold so it was dangerously overcrowded. I heard the same from previous years gigs but really wanted to see them and they were great from what I saw.

Bummed is an amazing album despite some very dubious lyrics. For me it’s the best album by far of the Madchester period. Martin Hannet was a fantastic producer and like his Joy Division albums it still sounds fresh today.

Their gig at Leeds Uni refectory in December 1989 is in my top 5 of all time.

    Wouldn’t bother seeing them now.

My boss ordered a petrol touran st the beginning of the year, the dealership apologises when they couldn’t get one for hi. To test drive. The salesman said they’d he’d never sold a a petrol one before.

When he went to pick it up a few months later the dealership said that there had been a complete reversal and no-one was ordering oil burners anymore. I think DPFs and Ad-blu are putting people of especially for cards primary used for the school run and short commutes. Plus the worry of having a worthless car when it’s time to switch if the legislation changes against desiel.

For me a dedicated ereader is a brilliant product at doing what it does. Storing hundreds of books, use it by the pool in bright sunlight light on holiday and charge it once a month. If thats what you want it for a tablet won’t work.

However if you only want to read by your bed then get the tablet as it can do much more than an ereader.

With modern android on some phones the SD card and internal memory can be merged into a single partition, I don’t think you can do it on Samsung.

I’ve just got an S8 as a work phone, it looks nice and takes great photos but i’m terrified of breaking it. But I was happy with my Note 3 that it replaced

I think any decent mid-range phone will be fine these days as someone said above the more you spent often the better the Camera is, the Note 3 took much better photos than a Moto g3 I had even though it was much older.

Started running and road biking to get fit for mountain biking. But drifted in Marathon and long distance triathlon.

Despite living on the edge of the peak district I have no great desire to go out and ride local loops every week.

Like many I’ve also drifted into bike packing like many I think that’s because as you get older you seek adventure rather than adrenalin.

Going out tonight for a 50 mile road ride with about 6000ft of climb. At the moment gives me more of a buzz than a mountain bike ride.

I travel on Brittany twice a year in the T5 with the bike rack. Always enter less than 5m plus rear rack, never had any problems. They were measuring cars with a tape measure when I travelled in May but got through no problems.

I did have a friend who forgot to add the height of his roof box on and was bumped at the terminal to the next day. So if you haven’t added the rack to your booking it would be worth calling them and adding it now.

I stayed in Tarragona last summer and though I was road biking there appeared to be loads of mountain biking in the hills. Saw plenty of mountain bikers when I was out.

If you think pressure to confotm is bad in mountain biking try triathlon. I did an ironman a few weeks ago on my GT Grade. I didn’t give a toss what anyone else thought and it’s the same with my mountain bikes. All 26″ one 1×10 one 2×9 and 2 3×9. Ride what you have, buy what you want you don’t have to listen journalist or to anyone else. If I were buying a new bike it would be 27.5 and 1×11 or 12 but current bikes don’t hold me back.
    I’m the weak link.

If i’d have done that I’d have spent thousands trying out triathlon as it is so far I’ve spent £200 on a tri-suit and a wet suit off sportspursuit.

    Just enjoy riding.

I thought Radiohead were great. They played nearly all OK computer then a selection of tracks of their other albums what more would people want. With a back catalogue so eclectic they were never going keep everyone happy.

If you don’t like Radiohead don’t watch, that’s the beauty of the red button there were 5 other acts on at the same time. Or watch the Sleaford Mods on watch again.

You can do Macc Forest after work on Wednesday, its only 20 minutes from Knutsford then have a full in the day around Edale/Hope or Hayfield the next day. I’d take you round but the wife’s away on business.

I,d park at Mam Tor down into Edale, Jacobs Ladder to Hayfield. Lunch then back to Mam Tor via Pennine Bridleway. Not many trees though.

Having taken up triathlon and training alone. I’m feeling it not having a power meter. I’ve got my first ironman on Sunday and my biggest worry is blowing it on the bike leg as it’s an undusting course I’ve no idea how to pace the bike leg. Whereas I can pace a marathon down to 10 seconds per mile.

I’m probably going to either vote for the independent or spoil my ballot paper but I will go to the polling station as it’s a privilege to be able to vote. But the mainstream parties are a shambles.

I live in a very safe Conservative seat but I’ll never vote Conservative especially as they are now enacting UKIP’s will, but also my MP’s voting record driven by him being a Mormon makes Hilter look a bit liberal, so even if I was a Tory I’d have trouble supporting him.

I would normally vote Labour but I can’t support Corbyn and i’m not going to support the Liberals especially as their leader is a bit confused about what it means to be liberal.

What I really want is a credible centre-left party but that doesn’t exist at the moment.

What’s the current best method for spoiling your ballot paper

I use Ghostracer to record run/rides then upload to Strava when I’m done.

I you get more info mid ride plus you can choose what goes to strava so you can ignore those 2 second rides that get when you decide to restart a ride.

I’m not sure it would fix your issues

Local masters club, swim smooth or total immersion videos on you tube are what is usually recommended on the tri forums.

I couldn’t swim last April managed to swim 4k in open water last week ready for an ironman next month.

I wish I got more coaching but I did get a few lessons at the start which got me going. I did a total immersion workshop which didn’t work that well for me as I don’t learn the way they were teaching but I think the theory will allow you to swim very efficiently.

My local masters in Macc is very good but the timings don’t work for me. You get coaching for the price of a standard swim.

Im not sure I’d start a proper racing club. I’m just back from the pool having got a PB for 50m that’s still 15 seconds slower than the under 9s qualifying time at county level.

I use tom tom runner 2. I have the cardio + music which you can get for about £130. You can get various configurations. I am not convinced about the HRM to be honest but the tracking is spot on. it also good for tracking swimming and measures steps.

I have one large frame, wide bars, short stem, 1×10, a hi-lo dropper post, bolt through fork and nice set of hope wheels. Don’t see any reason to upgrade to a modern bike. It will go down anything I’m prepared to point it down.

Did it a couple of years ago on a rigid scandal.

As someone else as said there a a few sections that were more suited to a cross bike and some that were suited to a MTB.

If your riding with someone else make sure you have similar bikes as you be waiting for them on the techy bits and theyll be waiting for you on the smooth bits.

I enoyed it they has good feed stops but I found there was too much of Tissington, manifold and high peak trails. If your not from the area it will be fine but if you’ve spent the last 10 years going on th with kids it’s a bit dull.

We just spent a week at Easter staying in the middle of the chase in a cottage that led straight on to the biking trails. We had a great time really enjoyed the red trails but also running and biking the blue trails and the maze of bridleways around it.

Normally I hide in the shed when I’ve messed something up at home. I suppose if you’re going to be spending a lot of time in the shed when you’ve messed up an entire country you may as well make sure it’s a good one.
