I’ve been low carb since November. Lost 2.5 stone. Today I ran with my 20 miles with my running club on nothing and tonight im definately i ketosis. Last week I did a 17.5 mile fell race only ate 2 eggs before and nothing during the race.

All month I’ve experimenting eating mostly only meat, eggs and full fat milk.

The main benifit of getting fat adapted ( I wouldn’t worry about whether your in ketosis or not) is you don’t feel hungry between meals so don’t snack and you can skip meals as you fuel from endogenous fat.

This makes 16:8 24 hour or 48 hour fasting easy.

This us by far the most sustainable diet I’ve done and I’m eating a higher % calories from protein.

Looking forward to tommorrow brekkie. Eggs, sausage bacon and black pudding.

Followed by slow cooked leg of lamb for Sunday tea.

Go for it don’t over do the cream, coconut oil and MCT.

It wasn’t for Shane Sutton, the truth will come out eventually and the whole Sky/Inneos thing will be blown apart. It’s their own fault for pretending they are whiter than white.

I was listening to a podcast on drugs cheating the other day and the presenter said two things that stuck with me.

If someone late in there sporting career suddenly has a dramatic improvement, that’s a bigger sign of drug cheating than any biological passport and also there’s always a narrative to explain that performance. He got cancer and changed shape, he lost the weight, we were better a putting more food on the course and he suddenly learned to train better.

After drinking far too much on Friday night did the Dragons back at CYB met @timbog160 not enjoying the top section then did the extended Minotaur trail in the dark which is great, can’t wait bring the kids

Today we did the Mach 2 at Machynlleth which was heavy going as the ground was absolutely saturated. The views were stunning especially with the trees looking amazing.

Unbelievably as the forcast was grim we had only 20 mins rain all weekend when riding, which was a massive bonus

The World Museum is great for the age of kids you’ve got, especially the hands-on area where they can get to touch loads of fossils and skulls etc.

I don’t have this problem as everyone I work with or socialise with voted remain.

This is not traditional left or right politics I’d much rather spend time with a moderate Tory than a delusional Corbynista. In fact I’m married to one and her political views have never been an issue between us.

The reason why Brexit is so divisive compared to normal politics is that there is an assumption by remainers that many of those that voted leave are xenophobes, racist, little Englanders who don’t care about the damage that leaving the EU is doing and will do to our economy. I’m sure that this isn’t true as there are definitely other reasons why some people voted leave but there’s a bit guilt by association.

You can share the same views as Bill Cash, Rees-Mogg, Michael Gove, Arran Banks, Morrissey, Toby Young, Katie Hopkins, Tim Matin, Julia Hartley-Brewer, the whole of the BNP and Britain First and my racist great Uncle John or you could decide that maybe I support the other side

I’m going back to my bubble of well-educated colleagues and echo-chamber Remainer friends.

I’m not an no-one basher I have loads of their stuff but I used the 20w one for the first time last night and wasn’t impressed as an off road light Not that bright, I couldn’t get the bracket tight. I was also blinded a couple of times by the cob light cycling through the modes. Thanks for the tip on the long press. Plus one off the screws fell out so I had to gaffer tape it together. I’ll probably bang it on the commmuter.

However It does make a great camping torch I took it away a few weeks used it all evening as a torch and used the cob light to light up a wider area when we were back at camp then charged my phone with it overnight. It was spot on.

One the other hand I’ve been quite impressed with the freebie that came with the LED helmet. Going to keep in my bag as an emergency back up.

No need to move everything over just give the new network the same name and password as your existing one.

@chiefgrooveguru we have 3 units. One by router in the living room on the ground floor. One in the bedroom above it which are both at the back of the house. The third is in the same floor at the front of the house. Between them they cover the whole house including the loft and also I can stream radio to the shed 100ft away at the back of the garden.

Also the parental controls on the app are great.

First you put your router into modem mode. Its pretty straight forward once you logon to it.

The tp-link units are identical plug one into your router and follow the instructions on the deco app.

Then just place the other two around the house switch on and again follow the app. Took about 15 mins to set a three up.

I wish I’d done it years ago.

The only extra cables I used was to plug the boys xboxes into one of the units but only because they were right next to each other.

We live a 3 storey victorian semi after of grief with the Superhub 3 it into modem mode and installed this a month ago

    tp-link mesh

Its been flawless since, 5 bars on the wi-fi through the app has good parental and security controls. I got a fright a few weeks ago when a new device logged on the network and I got a notification from the app. Eventually worked out it was the babysitter walking by the house as i’ve kept the same address and password

If you read the paper it’s based on the VO2 max calculation for running seems fairly accurate. After a very significant block running training my VO2 max steadily rose and that coincided with the increase in my running performance.

I have no idea how it can do it for cycling there just seems far to many variables. Mine has just plummeted as the last two rides I’d did was with a fully laden bikepacking bike pulling an extrawheel loaded with camping gear.

I was struggling to maintain 12mph on the high peak trail my heart was similar to when I’m riding 20mph on the flat on my road bike.

I also have to agree the wrist based HRM is bobbins or my wrist just doesn’t work with them. Get a strap if you want an accurate HR reading.

I cycle loads in the lanes in Cheshire south of Alderley. Lots of great quite lanes but also lots of roads that are rat runs so you need watch out.

The other thing carefull cycling through puddles as they could contain a submerged 4 inch square edged pothole that will result in crashing taring you shoulder tendons and ligaments. I can just lift my left arm after 12 weeks despite having pretty intensive physio.

I live in an extended Victorian Semi over 3 floors struggled for years with the Virgin Hub 3 as already stated repeaters are useless with it. Had some joy with TP-link powerline adapter but it still struggled due to its location in the house it was taking a lot of the load.

Recently switched to a TP-link Mesh network and its night and day, 5 bars on Wi-fi virtually everywhere about 70-80 MBs from Virgin 100mbs broadband. Was £130 on Amazon best money I’ve spent in ages. Not had to touch the router in 2-3 weeks rather than having to re-boot it almost daily.

Gone round Europe for the past 7 years in our T5 Caravelle. We have a 600 roof box this year had to take 6 bikes 5 on the back one on the roof. The inside is packed to the rafters. The fridge and 8 man tent in the footwell.

Next year we may take 7 bikes dreading it. I would like a trailer but the wife isn’t keen.

Try checking your facts from a more reliable news source before elevating the temperature of your urine. However, she should be brought back and tried here, withdrawing her citizenship was simply right-wing populist reaction that played well with folk with hot wee issues.

We have a voodoo Bakkor for my 7 year old which i managed to get new during the Halfords trade-in for £275. I’ve added a First Air fork, a 30t N/W chainring, and a 40t cassette. I also had some 24 Rocket rons (which saved a ton of weight) and some deore hydros which i fitted. It’s a great bike now.

He’s done Cannock, llandegla and Cannock Reds on it no bother. He had a Bienn 24 before and on some of the harder routes he was getting knocked around a bit.

They need to make phones more robust i’ve said this before that designing something that will inevitably get dropped out of the world slippest glass (Samsung) is either stupid or a given the hardware is so good now a way of forcing us to update as or phones are smashed to pieces. I’ve been through 4 S8/9s breaking them in the nano second they are out of the case (luckly i don’t have to pay for them).

I’ve just been diagnosed with a vit D deficiency after my pelvis bone injury refused to heal.

Im dark skinned, work in an office and did most of exercise in the dark. Also my mum had Rickets as a child so wonder if there’s a genetic component to it.

Anyhow I’ve had a long term recurring illness has a significant impact on my quality of life. If the supplements can get my vitamin d levels up it will be interesting to see if I have reduction in the frequency of the illness.

I thought the line in Ready Player one “fxxxing Chucky” was massively misjudged in a film that was going to have young kids watching

I wasn’t shocked but “cxxk-juggling thunder c____” from blade trinity has always stuck with me.

Went to see Jimmy Carr last week I’m not sure if 1% of what he said could ever be broadcast.

Sorry in relation to mountain biking. There I am trying to encourage my family into an active outdoor lifestyle and they can see there’s an option to cheat not get fit and get propelled to the top of the climb with little effort. I feel sorry for them.

Last spring my older son really struggled with that hill, a few weeks ago we got up it for the first time from bottom to top without stopping by putting the effort in over the year and getting a lot fitter. This has also translated to his running and made a huge improvement in his effort in his football.

I could of thought **** it I’ll just buy him an electric bike it would have made my life easier not having to stop every 5 minutes. He’d stil be struggling to keep up with his siblings at park run rather than catching them and not be the most improved player in his football team.

It too live in Macc and have yet to see an e-bike on the local trails. To be fair I’m not out on the local trails much as I spend most of my mountain bike time with my kids at trail centers mostly Llandeglla but also Cannock, Sherwood and FOD where we go on hols. At all four there are a lot of e-bikes.

I’m torn on the issue if your injured or old and want to carry on riding they make sense and in areas that an uplift is required like the downhill tracks at FOD i can see you’d get miles more runs in with an e-bike.

But they do create an artificial flow round the trail its like having loads more elite riders on the trail and at somewhere like Sherwood Red where its all singletrack it gets annoying for the kids constantly having to give way. Also, I had a chat with one of the guys at Sherwood with an e-bike he was saying it removes all the climbs, what climbs?

Part of the justification for funding of trail centers must be on improving health, and not to provide a ready-made track for e-bike fun. The most depressing thing I’ve seen in a while was climbing the hill at Lllandegla with my 7 and 10-year-olds been overtaken by two young teenagers on ebikes.

I know Lllandeglla is private so they can do what they want but I would ban them from FC trail centers during the busiest periods.

Reminds me of a thread from last year.

    Triathlete horse thread

Seems it’s much worse to scare a horse in a triathlon than nearly plough into a group of walkers on a mountain bike. But of course Triathletes are tossers.

Surprising, I’ve just had to give consent for my year 5 son to watch School of Rock even though its a PG and they’ve just performed in the Musical. I thinking of saying no to protect him from Jack Black.

I’d have no problem letting my children watching Touching the void, they’ve heard plenty of swearing (often from me) and it’s probably appropriate for the situation unlike the ridiculously placed F bomb in Ready Player One.

Used them both my boy’s bikes they work well. Used those cheap roadkink copies to extend out the Mech and had to file a bit of it to get it flush on one of the bikes. They are only £1.50 on ebay so its no biggy.
