@evillittle goat. Surely the point is that the price to ship to say Germany, is more than the price to ship to the Uk, regardless of what currency you choose to pay in. CRC just want your busines, be it in roubles, sterling or Yen, they don’t give a rats ass if the money in your bank account matches the currency of your chosen location.
Stephen, so are you saying the wheel that came back with the new freehub has the same fault as another wheel that you have serviced but not sent in to PX?
It really would help to have the following for each wheel
1. Model
2. Cassete used
3. Who has serviced the wheel.
4. What was done to it.
5. When did the fault appear.
I’m assuming they all worked fine when new and this fault has only appeared after some ‘interaction’ with the wheels. There’s bound to be a common thread but with so many questions flying back and forth it’s hard to track exactly what is what.
See how your axle end is flush with the cassette, it should be proud by about 2mm. Without having a similar wheel to hand I don’t know what order the parts go back in place and which part is missing/misplaced. Nothing looks broken though, just don’t use them for the time being or you may damage the frame.
I’m in work first thing tomorrow, I’ll pull one apart and take some pictures for you showing the assembly order. Expect a mail before 10am.
ps thinking about it if you have replaced the bearings in that wheel the |LHS bearing might not be fully seated.
firestarter, the size you choose will depend on one thing, whether you chose the right size for you based on intended use or whether you choose the size based on bikes you have ridden previously that have different geometry and serve a different purpose.
Unless you have disproportionately long/short/legs/torso/arms the size guides are usually very good. Should you be long in the leg go for the larger frame and compensate with shorter stem and vice versa.
I’m 5’9 with ape arms, 31″ inseam and short body and I ride the 54 with a 90mm stem.
List the parts on each set of wheels and what work has been done to each pair. And attach a picture of the lock ring end of the cassette (in frame) and the other end of the cassette where it sits close to the spoke flange.
mrjmt, as I stated yesterday I can’t jump in on eBay stuff and order parts for them and that extends to booking courier collections. I did offer the parts I had spare at the time, which is the limit of what I can do.
I’m not at work today, Thursday is my week-day off, but I’m assuming Scott hasn’t been in contact with you So I’ll run it up the flag to Lisa.
It’s a bike company prices go up eventually, most bike brands increase their model prices every year. If the costs stay the same the prices don’t change, if supplier, component and shipping costs go up rrp has to follow.
Yes the prices on the rollers have returned to the typical selling price they were at earlier, still below msrp though. If you like the look of a deal best not to ignore it and wait until it’s over…
Looking at stock there’s no reason why the eBay guy can’t order you the lower race. I can’t jump in on ebay sales and order part to complete them. But I can send you the top cover from our spares box. Just pm me your address and i’ll stick it in the post tonight.
Those Jobsworth Torque wrenches are in stock at the store, we’ve been playing ‘estimate your torque’ with them. Michael the mechanic was within half a Nm each time, the rest of us were way off.
With the Blackhead a super low profile saddle can be a PITA, same as on the Smica posts with the same set-up. They’re pretty decent seatposts for the money, just make sure you use carbon paste and fit it with a torque wrench, carbon posts are oh so easy to crush (says he with a knackered carbon use alien).
Sanyo Eneloop XXX, the highest rated, best storage leakage and great capacity. Expensive but better than the other 20 or so batteries I’ve used and measured over the past few years.
@Speshpaul, I’m on holiday this week, hence the vagueness, were I at work I’d have an answer. If muffin-man got a mail saying they were priced incorrectly then I would assume that to be the correct. The wheels in question are a bit of a NOS classic so I’m not surprised there was also very limited stock.
I’m plus 6″ ape index so I have very long arms for my height. Call the shop and ask Olly to try one on he’s the right size, the rest of them are wee skinny roadies… Failing that I’m back at work on Saturday so can measure one up for you .
5’9 44″ chest I’m an XL. Depends on how wide you are and what you intend wearing under it. Phone the Sheffield store and ask them to size one up on the most similar member of staff.
Alloy nipples on steel spokes and carbon rims built up without ti-prep or Linseed are likely to corrode at an increased rate vs the same alloy nips on alloy rims. No need for eyeleted rims with DT alloy nipples, just stay away from super light rims with tissue thin spoke beds.
Surely with the release of the new yeti 26er we’ve managed to go full Circle in record time. Now all we need to do is get rid of those pesky 29ers and we can get back to riding sensible bikes.
I’m actually on holiday until next Saturday. So while I can check the forums I can’t log into the work back end to chase up details of orders. I promise I will check into stw am and pm each day though.
