Rival 11 is a great groupset, better than the old 10 speed by a good way. Ultegra looks like more money but in use there’s nothing to tell them apart bar Shimano’s annoying front mech trim and the lack of a 32 out back if you so desire.

I’ve put a lot of miles on both Ultegra and Rival 11 bikes this year, I wouldn’t pay the extra for Shimano.

Well done for giving 5hit advice based on a sample size of 1.

Use assembly paste, that’s what it’s for. Some epoxies do react adversely with some greases.

Cut the Kevlar out, braid it and make rope saws from it.

Who cares, in the big scheme of things, any site or mag that runs adverts is less that objective, same for us, we all have favourites for reasons other than quality of product. t’s a nice talking point but honestly…

It’ll change the handling a bit putting the point of contact with the ground further out front so it feels a bit ‘boaty’ but it won’t be a massive change, obvious, but not huge. We have a 29er out back in the warehouse that has been tried with all sorts of forks on it, only a few were ‘bad’ choices.

it’s funny but some customers come back into the shop with the same wheels needing new bearings with alarming regularity and yet other guys come in who ride many more miles in harder conditions and never need bearings. The guys who do need them swear they don’t jet wash em, put em away wet etc, etc. Obviously some one is fibbing…

big discs and heavy riders will accelerate wear, but honestly a bearing should do you 5000 miles regardless.

Time to start thinking about this one creatively, surely there’s three other guys on STW who want similarly priced pre-built bikes from on one?

The Yingding is decent had mine for a year. Nice and bright, decent burn time.

I made a mount from a spare section of 90 degree gopro mount, it bolts straight into the chassis of my Yingding.

I agree rob, none of what you suggest is outside my reach. Mostly all it takes is to take another look at an issue that might have slipped off the radar.

I delivered a guy’s bike down to him in Market Harbrough last Friday night because he had a race the next day and it was otherwise impossible to get it there. I’m serious about making a difference.

flange, I was just asking you if you still wanted the item at all or not, as a goodwill gesture a discount after the fact can usually go some way to helping fix a late/lost order. Obviously not in your case as you’ve clearly stated since. I wasn’t being sarky, just suggesting something that I hadn’t seen mentioned previously as a possibility.

I’m not here to take the piss or be sarky, I’m trying to catch any visible fails that I might be able to do something about. I apologize for having offended you.

Flange, I can see your order is ready to ship, do you want to cancel it still? Might be worthwhile speaking to customer services and seeing what they are prepared to do to make it right? Shouting might make you feel better but it’s unlikely to get you your stuff and an apology credit note.

    Think big picture ;-)

    Cane Creek Double Barrel Air Rear Shock For El Guapo 26/ Black / 215mm / 63mm / 21.8mm x 8mm

34.9mm front mech clamp, so same size seat clamp, and that implies 31.6mm seatpost.

The headset on the original frame package was a Smoothie Mixer so that should be external-cup, tapered.

    Hope that helps

Danny, I agree, the majority of complaints on singletrack are from people who get the wrong item, or who don’t get an item at all. I haven’t done an accurate historical search but I’m guessing the number of STW complaints is actually very small, Way less than 1 per day, which in itself would only equate to 0.1% of daily transactions.

The thing is these customers don’t just make one post, they make many, and people cross post on these threads dredging up the same points multiple times on different threads. So the picture appears worse than it is. It would be great if there were none of course.

Olly, I’m not sure why we haven’t contacted you, the jacket is showing as out of stock everywhere except in the Sheffield showroom. We have one here, I’ve put it to one side for you. I need to transfer it to the warehouse, assigned to your order, and it will go out to you tomorrow. Sorry for the delay

Oli, it shows as ‘in picking’ on the system, I’ll investigate tomorrow.

Danny, As I said I doubt if there’s any incorrect ‘locations’ left in the warehouse that cause picking issues, and bonus culture certainly isn’t queering the pitch. It’s a new warehouse, last couple of months, so everything has been out and back in and no doubt a new audit was done, or is in process, since the switch to the new barcode system as opposed to the previous ‘pick and tick’.

Danny, I suspect that we are actually closer to 1% than 2% as regards order errors, I can only base this on the couple of hundred that come to the store as click and collect each week.

In reality by far the largest number of errors fall into the ‘specification’ category where either customer or customer service adviser select a part based on the ‘best information’ at hand and it turns out to be incorrect either because it has been written up incorrectly, the customer doesn’t know their arse from their elbow or both parties agreed just to try it out hoping it was the right bit.

Gloves instead of socks is inexcusable, even a monkey knows the difference.

Junkyard, by ‘impossible’ I just mean orders that currently contain out of stock items. RT-58 frames for example, they are due through in a day or two, there’s probably 100 people waiting for builds of these into bikes.

We’ve consolidated warehousing into one facility this year, this involved checking out and back in again every single item in the warehouse. We’ve just implemented a new scan-per-pick system that means every part on an order is bar coded and tagged from the second it comes in the door until it goes out, it should eliminate miss-picks. Were it not for all those orders being mixed up on the system this week I think we’d be pretty well sorted out.

The 10 speed wheels were from before the 11 speed cassettes arrived, it’s effectively a pro-to build.

Guys, apologies for this. One of the warehouse guys dumped all the quarantined orders into the system by mistake last Sunday. We are doing our best to separate those ‘possible’ orders from the ‘impossible’ ones, but it’s a lot of bits.

Stick with us, there’s a new system in place and it should run much smoother once this FU is cleaned up.

Easy way to make sure, Take your current post out, clean the seat tube, with cloth and alcohol and wooden stick. Then fit Reverb with lashings of quality assembly paste from TACX

Carbon paste is normally just stabiliser with micro balloons in there. If you have an alloy post in a carbon frame the first place they will corrode is where they are scratched or where the anodizing is worn off/removed, logos/etc.

If you move your post a lot then a Reverb is a better solution than carbon paste and waiting for the abrasive to eventually wear out one part or other.
