So what about Gay and Straight, surely the opposite of straight is……

Storm in a teacup if you ask me, I’m much more interested in knowing who’s stealing our civil liberties.

Most PA’s are on orders to pick out the worst customer service emails they receive so that the boss can ram them down the throats of the staff and turn them into a win for the service dept.

CEO’s love feeling like they are actually involved, trust me, he’ll reply, his brand credibility rests upon it.

Never owned a helmet and never will.

Yup i wear a seatbelt, always have, nothing to do with the laws, there is no downside to wearing one.

Helmets, well it’s a constant reminder that i might fall off and land on my head. too bloody hot, and here’s the real reason, I’ve never found one that doesn’t sit roughly 30 degrees across my bonce, yeh yeh, spaz head boy. No amount of foam padding makes any difference, i’d need one made to fit. and still probably wouldn’t wear one.

I wear gloves when i ride, and shin-knee pads when downhilling… What’s that you say, you downhill without a helmet? ‘**** A’ I do and have done for 20+ years. Sure I know i can’t take the risk of running bar breaking drops, naturally i’d rip my head clean off if i impacted my bars, but that doesn’t stop hurtling down anything vaguely human without my helmet.

    Race down Stanage path anyone?

Didn’t the use of GAY come in during the 70’s as a PC term to describe the homosexual community, as opposed to calling them, fag, arse bandit, or cock sucker. it seems by far the better of those four options.

But truth be told the bias we have is that ‘gays’ aren’t quite up to the task, effeminate, weak, girly, what have you, now this is the wrong bit. Cos what about all the butch dykes who’d smash yer face in, and all the bears who aren’t camp or effeminate.

So over the years the meaning comes to change, and now it comes full circle, a word that the gay community was happy to have used to describe them, has now come to be used to mean something else and no longer belongs to them.

You can argue about it until you are blue in the face, the kids won’t be told what to use it for, and in ten years it will common parlance across all social groups.

We’ll just replace it with something crap but much more apt and descriptive like ‘same sex’ which describes perfectly the difference between the hetro and homo communities.

(my ‘life partner’ is a social worker, so it’s PC all the fu@king way in our gaff).

Unlike mtb’ers who need to feel the self assurance generated by someone acknowledging them, roadies are too busy riding hard to give a flying F!

I usually raise the fingers of my right hand from the bar in a tiny little Thalidomide wave, you know the sort of signal you could deny when asked if you waved.

    yeh roadies, mardy buggers

They work fine, much less noisy than the juicy carbons they replaced, more bite and better modulation. You need to hold the cable as you twiddle the adjuster otherwise you wind up the cable as you wind the adjuster and the cable unwinds the adjuster after you let go of the adjuster.

You’ve either just not bled them right, or the seal behind the lever has gone. The lever seal does squelch when you bleed them even when it’s good.

Next time you bleed them make sure you have the lever reach adjustment set at the mid position, if you have it wide open, lever at max distance from bar then they do suck air, even 1/8th turn closes it.

It took me 4 bleeds of my front brake after shortening the hose to work this out, and stop the calliper from pushing out over time. I was all ready to strip the calliper next go round.

if you want to lose fat then you need to do two things, run your blood sugar right down without going anaerobic, stay under 60% of your max heart rate, and you need to burn more than you eat.

It’s that simple. Cardio workout isn’t an ‘effective’ burner of fat, it burns calories for sure, but once the blood sugar is gone you burn everything except fat to fuel your body. So you might score a little by increasing your BMR, but it’s not what you want.

Cycling 120-130bpm for more than 45 minutes is the fast way to dropping fat.

It’s dull as hell, and almost impossible on the road, so you’ll need to be a gym bunny or have rollers at home.

You’d have to be either blind or out of control to need a bashring in the Peak, Unless you count the two gnarly bits of Wharnecliff as in the peak.

Even honking down the Long Causeway path on Stanage Edge you don’t need one and that’s a real boulder field.

Does the rebound damping adjustment actually make any difference?

if it does then you might just have a slipped/miss-set adjuster, wind them to min rebound, undo the screw, reposition at half rebound and tigthen the screw. Now wind them to minimum, any better? if so you’ve fixed it, if not put it back. and send em for service/warranty

and don’t forget it’s the air spring that provides the rebound force… no air pressure = slow rebound

Not available due to warranty set-up sounds like a line, manufacturers might use it to force shops not to mail order which helps keep prices high and profitable. Of course they’d never admit to retail price maintenance through selective practices, but it sounds like an example of it to me.
