I get a minimum of 2000 miles from a knc SL-9 regardless of whether thats on my xc bike or my road bike, both suffering from peak grit wear…

My newish Demo 7 has 500+ on it and the chain is fine still,

Sheldona., if all you get is 50 miles from a BB then.
    A. you frame needs facing and chasing.
    B. you need to stop riding underwater.
    C. you need to leave the jetwash alone.
    D. you need to stop water collecting at the bottom of your seat tube.
    E. All of the above.

My santa cruz needed the seat tube sealing at the bottom, water used to piss up off the back wheel and end up pooling around the bottom bracket

Esme, you needed to use the lockrings and your valve holes could do with a little ‘smoothing’.

You’d be looking at a custom pultrusion for that. No one makes 25mm ‘solid’ pultruded bar, ‘tube’ for sure, but not solid, not past 8-10mm there’s no use for it.

These guys are reasonably priced for tubing, it’s shit grade though.

If you think it’s so clever it can’t be beaten and has never been done before then consider a patent, otherwise it’s not worth it.

6 months lead time in the market is worth way more than a patent than any one with half a brain will circumvent, take Brant up on his offer, he has a route to market and allegedly knows shit from shinola.

    Simon, has filed patents before.

brant: yeh but they do fall out of the sky from 20 foot with riders attached to them day in day out, which most hard tails don’t.

The CEN test is insurance underwriters bollocks, and nothing else.

Chains ‘lengthen’ with use due to wear on the rollers and pins. they do not ‘stretch; appreciably, ie stretch is 1% of chain growth when compared with increase in length due to pin and roller wear.

So we can’t have the bikes we actually want because some lawyers for you arsehole will help some idiot who pancaked his downtbe claim against a company for using a bike that was meant for kids.

    Great…

Score another great move for the EU.

Ritchey Micro Pro V4 Road, single sided goodness hang at the right angle to stamp straight into, great xc pedal with minimal footprint. use them on my road and XC bike.

Use em and bin em every two seasons, only £50 and light as hell.

Things like the new kit carbonio don’t feel like the old flites, I have one on my DH bike, where it’s great due to smooth back and sides, but its no cushion…

You rear mech hanger could either be slightly bent or loose, causing the chain to cross sprocket on the bigger cogs.

I found this out last week trying to get up Winnets..

The answer is no, you will not notice any different in the metals, though the two frames could chalk and cheese.

very very few designers/manufacturers actually build to the strengths of the tubeset, ie using a little more ductile temper in the seatstays as opposed to the frotn triangle.

Something like Kleins Zr1 was the last true ‘bike aluminium’

It doesn’t matter what view anyone holds, left, right, centre, or extremist, they all deserve to be heard, and then those really really stupid ones deserve to be torn apart, mercilessly.

At least when they are out in the open they are identified.

Buy an innertube, cut about a foot off, remove seatpost, slide tube over seatpost, ziptie at the top, reinsert seatpost, pull down excess to cover seat clamp area.

Bingo no more water in your seat tube, unless you have a seatpost with a hole at the top, in which case ram a wine cork up the fecker.
