Women dress up and worry about how they look because from the day they are born their parents fuss over them telling them how beautiful they are. I've never done that with my daughter, she gets other praise.

How she looks isn't important to me and hopefully will be of minimal importance to her, mum agrees..

The peak is fine if it's dry, but personally i prefer to ride on my own, and that means being free from red socked scum as well, which means wet days are a better choice. (I darkside on dry days).

1500 mile interval is chain, two front rings and cassette for me. that's the winter season, Nov-March then the rest of the year I'll just do chains.

heater lenses, and old sub zero snap on frames. The best sunglasses Oakley never made. Vintage Sub zero frames cost an arm and a leg on ebay these days though.

Happy for weekday or night rides, particularly night rides from Sheffield. I'm also a pot belly acquiring parent, help me break the 'vicious circle'.

Maybe all us dads should make a date for this week, turn over a new leaf instead of paving flags. One thing of note, my cycling might have gone to shit but our kitchen is looking fooking lovely.

I run the 09 Crossmax SX on my demo 7, I live on the edge of Wharnecliffe and nail the crap out the DH there as well as around the country. So far I've put a log through the back wheel at speed which tore a spoke from thre nipple ( they are designed to fail at the nipple, not the rim) this took 5 minutes to replace and the wheel didn't even go out of true. I've never had to take a spoke key to them in 7 months. They are light, reasonably bling, every part is available as spares and they are hella strong….

What's not to like. Mt DT 5.1 rims lasted a matter of months with the same use/abuse.

I run Laltex in my DH bike, no issues so far, and I've beaten the crap out of them. keep them inflated and they are fine, way better than light butyl tubes.

don't buy supersonics, they tear like single ply Andrex. Latex aren't repairable but you'll never hole them so it doesn't matter, I went through 5 supersonics in under 6 months, i hven't lost a latex tube in 18 months. You do need to fill them every ride though…

I'm with Cynic-al, gte your contact points sorted, saddle, pedals, shoes and bars. Ensure you have the saddle and bars at exactly the right angles and heights, a few mm and few degrees here and there make the difference between a bike you can only ride for 30 miles and one that you do centuries on with comfort.

I never 'wash' it, not like the xc and dh bike get a wash, it never needs it, wipe with cloth and a chain lube is all it ever needs.

Happy with my superstars on my downhill bike, they’ve had maybe 50 hours use in half as many weeks, bashed em, dashed em, crashed em, a few nicks in the platforms but they still spin right and have no play.
