Ton, you got 4500 miles from a tyre? I’m lucky to get half that on the road.

I’m sure I don’t get to hear all the back and forth but a lot of customers who order in the shop choose to have their bike delivered to them and in all honesty the rate of issues is very low. Certainly no worse than the previous place I worked where we used UPS for everything and charged the customers for delivery.

There’s a mix of RM and Yodel used at PX depending on order size, delivery address and due date.

Just put flying snakes on my road bike, the rear brake is as crisp as I’ve ever had one, more solid lever feel than the Gores they replaced. I’ll certainly check out their other offerings as need arises. Expensive though!

Websites often use auto pricing algorithms that increase pricing as stock reduces if an item is selling rapidly. You’ve no doubt witnessed some of the craziness this can
Lead to on Amazon and similar sites.

Brant it’s entirely feasible that some OEM cloned your part design, you know how it works out there, no rules no regulation.

ZS typically means it’s like a semi-interated, low combined height, bearing sit inside frame. The smoothy mixer is an external type headset with cups above and below the headtube.

Go to the FSA site to view examples of both types in diagram form.

I grease every part that goes on my bike, headsets, cartridge bearings, BB’s all of it, even the bearings in my Hope’s were lacking enough grease. It’s a PITA but most times they come from the makers under lubed and adding some takes a few minutes and helps them last for ages. Point in case, just put the 3rd set of bearings into my Kysirium es wheels, they have done 30,000 miles, so 10k per bearing set, not bad going for wheels that get jet washed every few weeks and abused as commuters and year round ride wheels.

It depends where you measure it from. but on a frame jig with everything locked down then the website angles are correct. You can only really measure it correctly on a jig.

Chip, I happen to agree with you, there’s a customer service team just waiting to answer any questions. But not everyone likes the phone, some people prefer forums, some prefer Facebook, some like to come into the shop and get hands on. A good company caters to all tastes.

I’ll not be plugging anything, just answering questions.

Sean, try a picture that always helps. Maybe a story about the good times times that you had with your cranks and then sign off by asking people to tell their favourite ultegra crank story. If you can show a picture of some famous ex someone using them Even better.

    @curious, I never checked…..

I do hope so, otherwise I will have failed on my first response. My money is on the 21st but it could be a few days either way. Leaves on lines, pirates on the high sea; who knows the vagaries of international sea freight?

Neal, a backwards career step? Au contraire! I consider that I’ve found my true calling.

It certainly beats commuting/moving to Berlin, when my daughter had just started school and my Mrs is in the final year of her PhD, which was the option should I have chosen to stay with my last employer when the company was bought out.

Convert, thanks for the concern. I’m offering STW members the chance to get the same answer they’d receive if they came into the Sheffield showroom, or phoned customer service to make an enquiry about product, their accounts or the status of any order.

That’s my role, I’m just saving people a trip or a phone call.

I’ll certainly be continuing to use swear words in my none PX posts and generally act like a child and throw my toys out of the pram when suitable.

I hope I didn’t give the impression that I may be ‘down with the kids’, down with the grandkids perhaps!

Hora, I hear what you say and it mirrors my own feelings, but I figure there’s more to be gained in terms of customer satisfaction than there is lost in terms of the occasional mauling I’ll receive. We’ll see what happens.

STW customer services manager, if only such an attractive post existed at PX. Imagine the number of applicants we’d get for that role.

“Wanted, online customer services operative. Must be able to dodge lethal bullets and pull magical customer services saves out of the ether with next to no physical support. An understanding of herd mentality, thick skin and ability to walk the tightrope between outright disaster and barely satisfactory outcomes a must.”

Like I said, I’ll try to help out wherever I can, I can’t promise anything but I’ll do my damnedest to help out and I’ll be doing it on my own time. The ‘STW massive’ isn’t part of my role but I want people to receive the best service possible from PX/OO, I’m enthused about what we can do at PX/OO and I want customer’s experiences of PX/OO to be as positive as possible.

    That’s it in a nutshell.

Podge, ooooer, funny that they’d be happy to sell the helmets that cheaply in one territory, but then get pissy when PX try to do the same thing in the UK. Anyone would think they were trying to protect prices…

I work at PX, so I’m happy to help out with any issues anyone might have. Hopefully I can catch some of those dropped balls when they happen. I don’t have the historical product knowledge Brant has but I know the right people to ask when I don’t know an answer.

Feel free to contact me via the planetx sheffield facebook account.

Ninfan, if you think PX purchase outside the usual supply chain channels for their branded goods you are mistaken. They purchase direct from the national, or where appropriate international distributors or as directed by the manufacturer. Obviously their own brand OEM goods come direct from the manufacturer where there are no back channels.

You can’t buy 5,000 shimano ultergra group sets from some German geezer with a couple of vw transporters and a wooly jumper.

Waiting on containers, wheels have new graphics, Shimano owe us lots of cassettes and chainsets. The available options palette has been simplified on the website on some bikes to simplify stock management and customer choice. If you have a need for a particular part that isn’t on the option list then customer service or the guys in the Sheffield store can advise on availability.

Didn’t the guy at Planetx mean ‘you would look funny’ trying to ride a 29er. When will short people ever learn and stick with the humble 26″ wheel.
