If that’s true I will bury myself under the patio.

Does the fact that we’ve been married for precisely 8 weeks make this better or worse?

I think I’m in the clear!

She’s just left saying “stop apologising” and something about “saving his one for later”.

I’m not sure what that means though.

Well, the good news is I am in.

The bad news is we have just found my keys…in the back of the gate.

So if I had just climbed over the gate I would have found them and saved everyone* a lot of hassle

*not everyone obviously, just one person.

Errr, already been put straight on that one.

Can’t blame a bloke for trying though?

Guys I’m off to Tignes in August. Any tips on which bike to take? I have a BigHit (200mm F&R) and a Knolly Delirium (180/160mm)

Fancy doing a mix of trails.

    Any thoughts gratefully received!

His posts are sometimes written in a slightly unusual style. But again, it’s just a forum. It doesn’t really matter. It’s ok to disagree with him, or even ignore him. But name calling is just a bit rude.

Then ignore him. But the insults in this thread have gone a bit far I think.

Chewkw might be trolling. But this is an Internet forum and fundamentally of no lasting importance whatsoever.

He is unfailingly good humoured and civility costs nothing.

I hesitate to post in a political thread. But in defence of chewkw, although he might not agree with the apparent majority view on here, he’s not the only one who thinks Brexit will eventually be a good thing, and he is never posts rude remarks about any one else.

Rather more than can be said for a lot of you guys.

    Hmmmm.

I use one at work. That’s where it’s one major advantage shines – it much less messy to use than a cafetière.

But the coffee that comes out is mediocre.

And given that it’s just a big syringe I don’t think they are good value for money.

However the advantage above means it willl remain my coffee maker of choice at work.

    Thanks for the tips guys.

I had looked at Stoves and Charnwood but didn’t find anything I thought I would want to look at for years.

Will check out the other makes now.

    Not guilty!

Yep, me too. Loads of online love for Clearview. I just think they look a bit Dickens Whimsy for my tastes. The firm installing Chesney stoves (amongst other brands) said they work fine because their features design is similar to Clearview anyway. Sufficiently similar for it to end up in court, allegedly. He said that there was a problem with firebricks cracking if they were run hot but not for the last year or two.

    Ok Lodrrik,
After consuming Toulouse sausage with green lentils for dinner, that was an image I could definitely have done without!

I’m just uncertain bc I have two installers close to me. One deals with Chesney and says they are fine (“We wouldn’t sell them if they caused us loads of problems”). The other doesn’t sell them bc “they cause too many problems”.

AdamW – how long have you had it? Any problems? I know the glass in the Clearview ones allegedly don’t get dirty.

Perchy – that made me smile.

After a day like I’ve had that is no mean feat so I thank you.

And of course I could hear the song as I read the words.

And now I can’t get it out of my head.

Always neat. With a teaspoon of water if the alcohol content is high.

    Jack Daniels – unpleasant

Makers Mark, Buffalo Trace – drinkable if offered, wouldn’t buy

Noah’s Mill – nice at original abv but becomes less attractive when diluted

    Breckenridge – good stuff

Ridgemont – best I’ve tried to date

I bought one secondhand two years ago. Great for anything from xc to Alpine trails. I might want something a little beefier for Antur Stiniog or the blacks at BPW though.

So good I bought a small for Mrs spw. Beefed up with big rotors, tyres coil shock and a Lyrik up front she uses hers in the Alps.

I killed the stock manitou radium shock in one ride and hated the Fox RL I replaced it with. Fox DHAir seems to suit it really well though.

I’m 5ft9 and medium is perfect.

“with additional on-call and private work work available.”

On-call is not like overtime: it’s not “available”, it is mandatory. I get paid £43 a night for being on call. I would happily give up the £43 to not have to do it but I do not have a choice. GPs were given a choice a few years ago and weirdly, guess what happened?

Private work is available but you have to do it in addition to your actual job which means evenings and weekends. Fine unless you like your family. In any case it’s not money for free and half of consultants therefore don’t do it.

I hadn’t really considered them but the small frame size looks like it would fit her – she’s 5’2″ – albeit would fit her as a full size bike, not as the flickable slopetysle bike that was originally what Transition intended. The sizing looks broadly similar to her Prophet.

And they look like they are more or less indestructible which would be good bc despite being an inveterate pootler she has an uncanny ability to break things.

Down riding only. It would basically be a play bike for the Alps, bike parks in the US when we visit her folks, and maybe BPW/Antur Stiniog.

I’ve seen one that looks like it is the first version (no machining on the linkage)

Birmingham are going to be charging diesel drivers to enter the city. This is how it will start. I think it is time to get out of diesel engines in favour of efficient modern petrols or electric.

Unless you don’t need to drive into city centres, in which case wait a year and take your pick of cheap diesels being off-loaded by people regretting their previous choice.

I’m sorry to pop anyone’s bubble but this trail is sheet. I went to this part of mid Wales specifically to do this trail, having read about it and spoke to someone who’d done it.

Got to love mountain biking in Wales but this trail is a waste of petrol. Really, really don’t do it, you will be disappointed.
