My new workbench in preparation for building new kitchen cabinet doors. It’s not finished yet but is well on the way, I’m also going to set a router in it at the other end to the table saw.
After using the saw for a bit tonight I’m seriously going to have to sort out some dust control!

He’s the reason I have the saw…. and have a blade to swap …. and will be changing the splinter guard for a thicker one….. and I’m asking about dust collection.

OP, I now have that saw and it’s great. I only have a Vax hose fixed to it with masking tape but I put a piece of duct tape over the ‘window’ in the blade guard and it’s stopped a lot of the stray chips and dust escaping.

    I like tape! 😂

I now live quite close to The Wash and RAF Holbeach but I’m early shift next Tuesday, so I’m really hoping the Tonka’s will be flying in the afternoon.

Great pics of a brute of a plane, I’ve got a GR1 and an F3 in the kit stash, might have to put one on the production line!

    Holy thread resurrection Batman! 😀

I’ve finally got around to making a workbench a bit like the one in this link, and am going to set my table saw and router in it…

Does anyone know a decent place to buy the T-tracks inset into the top? I’ve been searching but all I can find is some stuff from Axminster with negative reviews, and a load on eBay from China.

Did anyone swap Kane for Llorente in FF this week?

I’d swap Llorente for a packet of Haribo.
    Useless, utterly useless!

Thanks all, I’m still confused though 😂

I do need something that’s easy to manage being a complete beginner but I also want an element of control, and yes I was looking at a S+S ISA.

You’ve given me plenty to think about so I’ll have a look at the stuff you’ve suggested

@bruise willies not WNW, this one…

1/32 Avro Lancaster Mk I S-Sugar HK Models

@harrythespider that canopy is pretty thick! For a couple of quid you could’ve got a vacform one, makes a big difference.

    @rocketman
    nice job on the Mustang!

It starts with a 5 quid Aldi special offer and then escalates to wanting a 400 quid Lancaster kit! 😂

I got the Aldi one, happy with it for 80 quid!

It’s probably nowhere near the quality of Festool, but I’m just a garage bodger and not a pro so I reckon price+my skill=value for money

P51 cockpit just about done and waiting to be fixed to the fuselage, maybe just a bit of seatbelt weathering to do first though?

The seatbelts were a nightmare to fix together (HGW set) and took around three hours as they were so fiddly, I’m pleased with how they turned out though and would use them again. The biggest problem that I had was not knowing I had to take them off the backing paper and trying to force them through the etched buckles!😂

@CountZero has your mate posted on any modelling forums or had work in a magazine, I seem to remember reading about someone that had made Jerry cans and racks out of silver?

The kit I used was this one from 1995 (said I’d had it a while!)…
    https://www.kingkit.co.uk/product/dragon-military-1-35-6037-jagdpanzer-flammpanzer-38-mid-production

It has the option of being made with a flamethrower or the normal 75mm gun.

@CountZero cheers, I went ‘old school’ on it and didn’t use the airbrush at all except for the final Matt clear coat. The base was just a leftover from something I abandoned years ago, gave it a lick of paint (again brushed) and it all came out surprisingly well!

Back to the airbrush again for the P51 🙄

I got a Takom King Tiger with a full interior for Xmas, and a Bronco Stug III. Anyone else get kits?

I’ve just had some Vallejo Metal Colour acrylic delivered for the P51 I’ve just started. I watched a few vids of people using it and it looks pretty good, I like the way you can mix it with any of their other paints to change the tone.

I’ll let you know how it goes.

I’ve just started a Hasegawa 1/48 P51D Mustang, I’ve not attempted a natural metal finish for a long while so it could end in tears!
Had this in the stash since god knows when, it came with a couple of resin detail parts.

Halfords every time, give it a quick whip over with some worn wet and dry (800 grit works for me) and it’ll be good. Just watch you don’t go through on the edges.

Wingnut Wings kits are great kits, they just fall together!

I made their Pfalz and although I went mad adding extras they didn’t really add much to it, the only things I would buy again for it would be some Gaspatch models turnbuckles and some elastic rigging. The Gaspatch turnbuckles are metal but extremely small, and have holes in that you can thread the rigging through. Get a magnifying glass.

I only had one issue with the kit and that was that the parts fit together so well that a layer of paint can put the alignment out, make sure you scrape any paint off the joining surfaces.

One thing that I did that did make a difference was to make a real wood prop, I did this by glueing some strips of veneer together and carving it when it was dry. It looked really nice when I glossed it.

I used to use Tamiya all the time but although it sprays really well it was horrible for brushing on, switched to Vallejo and Life colorful (Xtracrylix is good as well) and not looked back.
What I used to find annoying with Tamiya is the mixes required for some colours along with the potential for messing that up, I’d rather just use the correct colour paint.

    Thanks.

Ive been working for years out of a dozen plastic boxes and was getting fed up with taking ages to find the right bottle of paint. We had a family crisis yesterday with one of my son’s breaking up with his missus, I got upset and went and hid in the garage and knocked it up out of some 6mm MDF to take my mind off the troubles.
I’ve got loads more paints but they are enamel and I tend to work in acrylics these days, just got to put the Tamiya ones out and that’s all of my acrylic paint easy to hand (and in nerdy numerical order!😂).

    @Donks

Keep trying with the dog mate. We got Henry the Romanian reject when he was 6 months old. He’d had no socialisation, no training, and had never worn a collar or lead, he was an absolute pain in the harse and at times I wanted to send him back to the rescue as I’d had enough. It took 3 months to get him used to our cat, and he’d bark at anything and everything!
We took him to training classes, and also did their socialisation sessions which really helped, we even had a trainer for a one to one session. 18 months on and he is much better and I would never get rid of him now as he has calmed right down. He still has his issues, especially on the lead, but we stamp on any misbehaviour straight away. I think he just needed to know where he fits in with our little pack (he’s at the bottom) and has turned out to be a nice family dog.

I’ve managed to post the pics at last, Flickr can go and do one now!

This is the Hetzer I started a few years ago when I bought it from ModelZone 😂

I’m not that happy with the figure though. The arms were chopped about to get him leaning on the gun and hatch lid which turned out ok, the painting needs to improve though as the face is a bit ropey.
The Hetzer itself just needs the aerial glueing on which was kindly supplied by Henry the dog donating one of his whiskers, and I’m fairly happy with it. The base needs a bit more work as the cobbles are too dark and I need to scatter some rubbish and dust on there.

Critique away boys and girls, we only get better by correcting our mistakes! 😀

“I know what you mean about Humbrol.

Going to start a Victor K2 shortly and the only Hemp paint I can find is Humbrol’s. Will try it on my “Test Pig” and if it fails I’ll be mixing my own from various shades of Tamiya.”

Xtracrylix from Hannants do a close match to RAF hemp, nice paint to use as well.

I don’t know about Hive but I was fancying getting the Tado system until I read the reviews about their subscription service. Looking at Honeywell EvoHome now, or maybe Drayton Wiser. Anyone got any experience of these?

The peanut man who could throw a bag so accurately he’d make millions as an NFL quarterback!

I don’t hear any racist chants at Spurs any more although you do hear the odd knuckle dragger make a ripe comment, this seems to be getting less common now though which is a good thing. As for the abusive chants at the opposing team/fans, I’m all for that, especially the goons. It’s quite therapeutic letting it all out for 90 mins and part of the atmosphere, if you don’t like it go and watch rugby or cricket (sitting down).

Definitely cross on the Tilbury/Gravesend ferry, it only runs Mon-Sat though.

I lived in the area until recently and only used the Dartford crossing once, I’ve used the ferry loads of times. Aim to approach Tilbury from the north through Bulphan or Horndon and Orsett, lots of fairly nice lanes through that way. Same on the south side of the river, you’ll be in the lanes as soon as you’re out of Gravesend.

    Thanks all.

I think I’m leaning towards Hive at the moment as it seems reasonable at 135 quid at Screwfix.

I’mnot too bothered about the stuff like it sensing when you’re near the house or whether it can warm each of my dogs individually, I just need more control of the heating and water as the current controller just has on/off twice a day.

    I fear Skynet! 😂

Anyone got any idea what this is made of?

Fromthe fur on his back we’ve deduced that he’s part German Shepherd or similar, as for the rest of him we haven’t got a clue!

Edit: Aarrgghh!! Can’t get the pic to show.
