I’ve never used one of those, just buy it and try it. If it breaks you’ll have only lost 27 quid, if it’s ok it’ll be a bargain.

I prime all of my models with Halfords acrylic primer aerosols, they spray nice and smooth, and I use white or grey depending on the final colour of the model. You get a lot of paint for £6!

    Sweet Mig BenjiM.

This was done freehand apart from the upper wings

I think I freehanded this one as well

cheez0, don’t think about it too much, just buy a gun and practise spraying. Remember the thinner the paint, the tighter the lines.
‘Fine Scale Modeler’ magazine forums are worth a look as well.

I’ve just bought one of these compressors..

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AMA-186-Airbrush-Compressor-/360404017495?pt=UK_Crafts_DrawingSupplies_EH&hash=item53e9c0e157%5D

I only paid fifty quid for it though. I’d get one with an air tank as it stops the paint ‘pulsing’ out of the gun.

These airbrushes are good starter ones, they are old model Iwata’s. I’d buy new stuff if you’re just starting as it’s a nightmare trying to use equipment that’s not up to scratch.
I’m also rubbish at airbrushing as well.

    http://www.scalemodelshop.co.uk/iwata-airbrushes.html#cat=139/

I’ve used ScaleModelShop a few times and the prices are ok, and they deliver quickly (I’ve got no connection to them, just a happy customer).

Does anyone know what the lap distance was?

    Ooh that hurt!!

I did the 2 hour race and it was a bit of a shock after the 1 hour MSG series. I should’ve done a fourth lap as I did 3 laps in 1:56 but couldn’t face it.
What was surprising was I went out on a little ride with the mutts this morning and felt pretty good.

    I need to ride more.

Same as Shimano, got mine from Decathlon for about seven quid.

Yup, platform edge doors would help.

Unfortunately they don’t just do it off of platforms. Spme jump off bridges in the open sections, they also climb over the fences and run up and down the track waiting for their chance. Desparate people can be very inventive.

Tube drivers are well paid, it’s the others that are underpaid.

Tubes could run with no drivers on, but they are usually the first reponse to ill passengers/lost kids/fights/robberies, and the suicides.
Tube staff have to go under the trains as well. Who would slam the brakes on when someone tries to commit suicide? It happens a lot more than the general public realise as most ‘jumpers’ get away with it.

I wouldn’t go on an underground train with no driver/staff. too much to go wrong.

Ok, here we go, and I’m expecting to get slaughtered now :-)

I work for LUL (not a train driver).

46k is what they earn, no overtime is available as they are only allowed to work a certain number of hours a week (although they do get an overtime payment when the service is disrupted and they finish work late).

epicyclo: I think that the point you are making is that they are of a fairly high standard? if so you’d be right.
They train for about six months in driving and the train’s systems, as they have to be able to get it moving if it breaks down in the tunnel. The selection process is pretty tough and most people fail during the tests (tough ones as well) and interview. having someone who is a bit ‘off the wall’ is not an option in charge of 700 passengers on a train in a tunnel!

Binners: Quaffing champagne would be lovely but the rules on drinking are very strict, you’re not even supposed to go on licensed premises with uniform on. You can only have 7 units of alcohol the day before work (zero in the 8 hours prior to work) and can be tested anytime. Instant dismissal for anyone over the limit.

    Bob Crow is a knob.
His public persona is hideous, but the RMT union is very effective (I’m in the other union as I got embarrassed at being associated with Crow). I’ve spoken to a lot of people such as coppers and NHS staff that wished they had a union like the RMT.

    Spade
    Fork
    Hand Trowel
    Rake
    Box of Matches

Until it’s time to plant stuff you’ll just be digging weeds and clearing it up. The matches are for the big bonfire you’ll have with all of the crap you clear from it.

Allotment.org has a month by month guide on their site, I found it useful when I started back in April.

The Mall and Constitution Hill were still closed at 6am Monday morning!
If they had employed more people to move the barriers instead of all the ‘jobsworths’ telling me that I can’t ride my bike down a deserted road there may have been less complaints. The TDF moves a complete stage to a different area overnight.

Oh god, shoot me now, I’m agreeing with the Daily Nazi!!!!!!

I’ve had a similar problem with my X7 10sp rear deraileur, bought new in January.

It was playimg up really bad, felt like the indexing was out or the hanger was bent.

It turned out the body was worn where the pivot/mounting bolt goes in causing it to wobble about. I did a Mud, Sweat and gears race at Tunstall a while back and I reckon some sand got in there as it had a lot of play in it. It was fixed by a friend with a lathe who drilled it and put a phosphor bronze bush in. It works great now, nice precise changes again.

Teddy Bare, was that from ‘Sniffin Glue’?

The instruction manual that launched a whole herd of punk bands. Happy days.

I went to a training course that was pure bs, with all of the associated crap. The group was asked to make up a rule each for the day to make it all go smoothly. Mine was ‘no dogs on the tables’, cue stony silence and tumbleweed blowing across the room.
I was quietly peeing myself laughing, and none of them knew I was taking the p. Morons the lot of them.

Anyone doing the ‘midweek blast’ with a video cam?

I can’t get there Wednesday as it’s too far, and wouldn’t mind a peek at the ‘features’.

    So, so, sad.

Poly (Marion) was a truly iconic figure who was way ahead of her time in identifying consumer culture. I only saw X-Ray Spex once in the 70’s but they were fantastic. Still play their album quite a lot and it’s stood the test of time.

    Oh Bondage, Up Yours, 1234!

    Rest in noise Poly.

I’ve got a Border Collie/Pointer cross and a Labrador/Staffie cross, both will run until they drop with the bike. They go crazy when I get it out, brilliant out on a ride and never get in my way.

    I used to own this

It’s a 1970 Plymouth Sattelite, and I had to get rid of it for financial reasons. I’d give up cycling (MTB and road) to have it back, I was in tears when I handed it over to it’s new owner.

It’s still the best thing I’ve ever owned.

I changed from 9sp to 10sp just after Xmas. Not regretted it a bit, good spread of gears without having to worry about cross chaining. It cost a few bob but I needed a new chainset anyway, got X7 C/set from Bike24 in Germany for about £115. Got the rest of the stuff from CRC.
