    OP, get them on Ebay.

I just had a quick look and the Trumpeter 1/48 Sea Fury is going for 20-35 quid, the 1/72 is 15-20. There’s a Trumpeter F105D in that stash and if it’s 1/72 it’s about £20, 1/32 is £90ish!

    This

Some of those kits may be worth a few quid (when I say a few quid, could be £40, £50 for a few of them).

Do as mrmonkfinger says and sell them in batches on Ebay, there may be a few gems in there that a dealer won’t tell you about.

If you’re selling any on here I bagsy the Sea Fury!

Thought it was a great shot of The Thames Barrier at work last month.

WTF were you working on up there? 😯

3 pages of complaining about petrol stations…some of you are going to have heart attacks if you carry on like that.

    +1

People in general get right on my tits as I’m a seriously grumpy old man.

I’ve learned to ignore people who get on my tits now as it doesn’t end well when I don’t! 😀

Not sure the bloke at the front taking a selfie is historically accurate

😀 didn’t even think of that but it does look like he’s taking a selfie!
I had the choice of a pistol holster or a bayonet to put in his hand, I got it wrong.

Finally finished this yesterday apart from the two radio aerials that are on the turret, they’ll be done when I fit it to a base.

I’ve decided that I aren’t going to post pictures of my Vulcan on here……

Behave yourself, put it on here! 😀

Nobody starts doing museum quality models, the next one is always a bit better than the last. I don’t do cars as I’m not confident doing shiny stuff.

I’ve never had any success with using water as a thinner with acrylics

Createx air brush cleaner is what I use to thin acrylics, not found one it doesn’t work on yet.

I used to use liquid poly but it isn’t thin enough, I buy Dichloromethane from eBay and use that. Half a litre is about 6 quid.

Digby, that snow on the Hurricane looks really good, what did you use?

Yeah. The loader figure that’s going to sit on top of the Sherman Firefly I’m building is going to be eating a sandwich, I made it from 3 layers of plastic card.

Try and stay away from Humbrol paints at the moment, they’ve moved production back to this country from China and it all seems to have gone pear shaped…

Stick to Tamiya spay cans for the camo and you’ll get a nice finish.

As for injuries, in the last few weeks I’ve drilled my thumb with a 1mm drill bit (very hurty), cut several slices out of my hands with scalpels, and superglued my fingers together 3 times! I should take up something safe like wrestling cobra’s.

I’ve just spent the last couple of hours painting a 1/35 Lee Enfield rifle, a Sten gun, and a sandwich! I need a life.

A nice and easy available filler is knife putty (stopper) from a car spares shop, cheap as well. Don’t forget to prime it before the camo paint goes on, Halfords grey primer is very good.

Car spares shop for wet and dry paper to smooth it as well, 600, 800, and 1000 grit will do you (or you can use emery boards after you’ve done your nails! :-)).

    I’ve got one.

    It starts OK.
    It stops OK.
I can get my bike in the back without taking the wheels off (just about).
It was stupidly cheap (Indian rust box model 😀 ).
    Service just cost me £149.
I’ll keep it until it falls apart (I like a gamble).

It’s just a car, I don’t love it like my bikes.

I watched an old Thunderbirds episode recently and Scott Tracy had a fag on, come to think of it Lady Penelope always had a cig holder in her hands.

FYI I’ve never smoked so it didn’t affect me when I was a kid. Still can’t see it happening now though! 😀

Sparmax from modeltools.co.uk is another budget brand that’s worth a look, slightly cheaper that the Neo as well.

njee20 that compressor is fine but you’d really notice the difference with a better AB, it’s like going from 8sp Claris to 11sp 105/Ultegra.
I started with one of those cheap one’s and don’t use it at all now, went from that to a single action Badger 200 (which was fine until it broke), then to a double action Paasche VL which was a bit rubbish, I bought the Neo next and I still use it instead of the Iwata HP-C sometimes.

I would start off with a Neo for Iwata gravity fed airbrush, it’s fairly cheap (around £60) and will give decent results. Generally it’s like bikes, the more you spend the better the equipment, but just like bikes there comes a point when you’re spending loads for small gains in performance. I use one of these…

    Iwata HP-C Plus

Don’t forget that you’re going to need a compressor as well, try and get one with a small air tank if possible, one like this will do…

Cheap as chips and got GXP on 4 bikes.
It’s important to torque them up correctly though, too tight will severely shorten their life span, 54nm and you’ll have no trouble.

Airfix do some very nice kits now, just make sure that you get a newer one.

14 quid a bottle, can’t remember what it was called though as the bottle has been thrown away.

I’ve got the Bahco 424p chisels, nothing wrong with them at all. I don’t regret buying them, and would do so again if I had to as they were great value.

OP; could you not buy a proportion of the house for 5k?

That would give them the money and also protect your contribution, just find out what the house is worth then calculate what percentage of the property is worth 5k.

Make it clear though that this is the end of the rope and they will be cast adrift next time, tough love is sometimes needed.

Get a small safe and lock anything valuable away, if there’s nothing to steal then it won’t be an issue.

It’s a shame that you’d have to do this but it would take away any stress from the relationship, rather than have the confrontation and the resulting fallout.

Don’t get a camera to spy on a teenage girl, if that goes pear shaped then you could be in all sorts of trouble!

It’s the small things that get blown up – crockery being left around the house being a major source of angst for example! I’ll get my daughter to come from wherever she is and put it in the dishwasher, I’ll get her back time and again depending on how many items I find.

Approach it from a different angle? Put the dirty crockery in a box in the garage/shed and serve her food up on paper plates and with plastic knives and forks when you have no more clean stuff left. It might be a pain but if you approach it with the right attitude you and your missus can have a laugh at teh same time.

When my oldest son was doing the ‘I can do what I want’ thing I cut all of the plugs off of all the electrical items in his bedroom, he got them back at the rate of 1 a week if we’d had a good week. How I laughed when the first plug he wanted back was his Playstation one! 😀

Best for me is ’12 O’Clock High’, it was made just 4 years after the end of the war and included real footage of the air war. It was supposed to be based on the story of the 100th Bomb Group who had a really tough time.

Close runners up are ‘Battle of Britain’, ‘Das Boot’, ‘Downfall’, and ‘Went The Day Well’.

IMO ‘Fury’ was a load of old poo! 4 Shermans (Ronsons!) charging over open ground towards a Tiger? Easy meat for an 88mm.

OP; without knowing a rough budget it’s hard to recommend anywhere, for some of the places mentioned here you are going to need 400-500k as a starting price(you said you have kids so you’d probably want a 3 bedroom house?).

There’s some decent areas of Grays if you look for them north/ north east of the town, but personally I would live outside of there. Lots of nice little villages if you can afford them, some of the more populated areas are OK as well if you find the right one.
Personally I would avoid Kent, there are some great places to live over there but when the Dartford crossing goes pear shaped you’ll be extending your commute by a couple of hours usually, late November and all of December is bad because of the shoppers going to Bluewater and Lakeside. If you would be cycling every day the Tilbury-Gravesend ferry is a good way to cross the river with a bike.

Upminster = the promised land 🙂 This is so true for those of us in Ockendon!

Is it just me or does anyone else think that there is no way the lorry with the digger on it hit that bridge?

    Believable.

A few years ago a concrete footbridge near me got tagged by a lorry with scrap cars piled on the back, knocked it scatty and they had to put a new bit of bridge in. Aveley by-pass in Essex.

Used to annoy me in London when bus lane had cyclists in it who where not using the cycle lane provided

    This?

If cyclists aren’t using a provided cycle lane, preferring to mix it up with traffic, then I’d assume there was some issue with the cycle lane

Any cycle lane will get used if it’s a good design, and a well maintained facility.

The Embankment cycle lane in London is great in places, and a pain in the bum in others so sometimes I use the road. Bad points are lanes not swept at all, speed bumps, joggers, lemming like pedestrians, poor traffic light phasing, and wandering cyclists at busy times.

If the A24 is becoming a safety problem how about 30mph average speed cameras along there? Now there’s an idea for a petition!
