I would love Henson to have been great, really would. But the fact is, he wasn’t. Great talent, could well have turned out to be a great player, but he never delivered on his promise.

guys, Wilkinson did work for aaaaages behind a mediocre pack – a big chunk of his career was spent at Newcastle. At that time their pack would have been rolled over by under 11’s sides.

He still ran the game, still kicked his goals. But no, he didn’t set up loads of awesome tries.

But good god, to compare Wilko with Henson is laughable. We’re saying Wilkinson is limited because he is remembered for his kicking and that drop goal? Henson is remembered for 2 tackles (which would now be illegal – Warburton anyone?) and a couple of enormous kicks. Oh, and because he was a nob.

i’m surprised at the response on here! I always flash other drivers – i despise speed cameras, just an annoyance and revenue generator.

Yes, i agree – some people do drive like idiots, but i honestly don’t think cameras stop them. And for god’s sake – why the hell would you have so many on the bloody motorways? If its near a school, or even a housing estate – makes sense, but a motorway!!!?!?

BO’D was once asked who the best player he’d played against

    Tana Umaga ?

really, really, really wrong. But i can’t stop chuckling.

deadly – genius can definitely be used with rugby, but it means different things for different positions IMO- as a flanker McCaw is a genius, but in a very different way to say, Barry John.

oh right, yeah it is a bit limited for formats. but if you get a library manager like calibre it’ll convert any epub book into the right format (mobi i think?)

PS Cynic-al – what did you mean by the “proprietory nature”? (serious qs, not being sarky!)

Not used the Kobo, but got a kindle and i love it.

Bought it really to go on holiday with, so i wasn’t lugging loads of books with me round the pool, and it was perfect for it – barely put it down all holiday.

Easy to use, plenty of space, you just don’t notice it when you’re using it, which i guess is the point really.

Not sure how i feel really – on the one hand, gutted. He was a defensive genius – redefined fly-half in defensive terms. And for the record his injuries only really began after that shocking late tackle in the 63-3 drubbing of S.A. His open play wasn’t awesome compared to others, say Hodgson, Lamb, but his kicking skills were amazing and he’ll forever be remembered for THAT drop goal.

On the other hand – he was poor at the world cup (as was virtually all the England team, i know) and his influence was on the wane. This opens the door for new(er) talent – Flood, Farrell, (maybe even Lamb if he learns to tackle)

Hmmm, had a look at the offset bushings and I’m a bit concerned as to what effect they’d have on the rest of the frame – bits colliding etc.

Great! Ummm, what are offset shock bushings?

Planning and building warrants? Not sure you’d need those for an internal alteration surely? Plus warrant only applies in Scotland to my understanding?
As literally everyone has mentioned – soil stack will be the main issue. Do you have any front garden or is it straight onto the street? If its street – you’ll have to gain permission to cut through the pavement for the pipe?

pre-ordered from tesco too, 35 squid. I’m guessing Plopnofear will be right tho and it’ll be massively reduced on the day by the supermarkets as the last couple have been.

Not sure about BF3, played the demo a lot but seems very squad oriented (which is great if you’ve got a good squad i guess!), try a bit of running n gunning on your own and you die very quickly! Think it’ll be a purchase if i get livid with COD

hi, can’t help with the pic, but i have a medium, i’m 5ft 10 and it feels fine, possibly a bit larger than my last bike – a medium anthem.

I went with the am not the xc, purely cos i wanted a bigger step up from my 100mm anthem. TBH i seriously doubt i need the extra travel, i don’t do anything more serious than mainstream trail centres! However, it does give me a bit more confidence, and you can wind the forks back down to 120mm for local stuff.

You do seem to get crowds forming around werewolf drop on busy days. Tbh it’s fairly daunting if you’re not that experienced a rider – certainly I struggled with it for quite a few goes. i have to agree with nick though, it makes it loads harder if there’s a group of people standing on the entry, and nearly always on just the line I’m after!

Hmmm, somewhat lower in price compared to the other suggestions but I bought a seiko kinetic arctura a few years back and never regretted it. Keeps accurate time, looks understated and never needs winding, battery etc!

arguably yes i guess. Have to agree though – neither would i…

I would use the example of someone talking about Dale farm, saying its a disgrace that they’re throwing people off the land etc etc and then immediately petitioning the council when gypsies move onto the parkland near them

its when you don’t do anything or even actively support something when it doesn’t really affect you, but then become a raving activist as soon as its in your area or affects you directly.

Hi, been a few years since I was up there clubbing, but been up with work and the areas still seem pretty similar. You’ve got slater St – cheap busy bars, several shooter options and I think oneills and maybe flares up there too. There’s a square right next to it that always had the funky bars in (poss called Norwegian blue or something?). Then there’s Matthews sq which is where the cavern is. TBH I always hated this bit, but is got some decent bars. Finally got Albert dock as mentioned by al. Nicer bars up here, with higher prices, but not sure how late they’re open. O er 2 options def. Open late.

    Hope this helps!

Hmm, fair play to those that fixed theirs! Mine died back in Jan, literally 1 week outside of warranty! I checked out all the stuff on the web, but in the end bottled it and sent off for ‘official’ repair. Cost about 70 quid if I remember right, they sent packaging and then mailed it back about 2 weeks later.

yes to the brakes – although there’s 2 diff types of mount (so you might need a little adaptor thingy) but yes, your disc brake calipers will fit any ‘disc brake’ fork.

hi Duggan, went through this myself not so long back, couple of bits i found out!
Find out the max and min travel your frame will support – too much and it climbs awfully (i switched to a 120mm fork and it ruined the bike!)

2nd hand forks are well worth a look – you’ll get loads more for your money, and it does make a difference to the bike.

If you can find a pair, i’d highly recommend the rockshox rebas – switched to these on my old bike and the change was stunning.

If you want an uber cheap 2nd hand set – i have a set of Tora 302’s? Bit of damage to the paintwork but otherwise sound.

no, thats the one i’m waiting for! Just had one saying this:

Your order is currently being processed and will be handed over to UPS within the next 48 hours. You will then receive a confirmation of dispatch from us by e-mail together with the tracking number of the consignment. The tracking number allows you to constantly monitor the status of the consignment via Internet.

thanks, but i’d need some sort of tracking number surely? I only have an order number from Canyon – i’m waiting for the consignment email from UPS – thats the issue!

hmmm, thinking about switching on my new bike to 2×10 (12-36 on the back and i guess 22-33 on the front). don’t seem to use the top gear at all really unless on the road!

Whats the thoughts on that set up? Or do i need to man up and go all the way to 1×10!

Bregante – i’ve had the same issue with wiggle a couple of times now – ordered kit thats “usually delivered in 7 days” and then been told it’ll be a bit longer, then a bit more, then “out of stock at our supplier” and then eta suddenly 3 months later!

Ordered a pump in March for my mate’s birthday – finally arrived in early June!

hmmm, this is going to sound thick, and i’m no bike mechanic, but my anthem was creaking like mad recently – sounded like it was in pain!

I of course panicked – thinking bottom bracket, suspension bushings – expense, expense, expense! Then took it to my LBS and it turned out to be…..back wheel was loose and unbalanced in the frame!

Bloody stupid, but it could be the same?
