It’s the middle ring that needs replacing. Currently running double and bash, but an switching back to 3×10 when I fit new middle ring. Cranks are truvativ x9.

The big ring (Which I’ve removed a while back) odds a truvativ if that helps?

So do I have to get another truvativ?

Hi, I have a policy with combined insurance. I got it through my rugby club, mainly to cover for injuries there, but it covers all accidental injuries except winter sports I think. :D
I’ve only gone for the broken bones option, but I believe you can up it to include torn muscles, severe bruising etc, which the semi pros use for loss f income cover when injured.

You mean three big rock drop off before the boards? Was a big group of lads there today too, trying to talk each other into it. You get the same at werewolf drop over cannock, puts me right off!

Just wanted to add my tuppenth! Only ordered from Tredz once admittedly, but had great service. Ordered a saddle online on sat morning, then realised when confirmation email arrived that I’d ordered try he wrong one. Emailed them explaining and asked to switch, expecting an email back on Tuesday as it was bank holiday weekend. They emailed back on the Sunday, offering to switch for a similar one, as the one I wanted was 5 quid more, or I could pay the additional fiver. I sent the link showing it at the same price, they replied saying it was an error but as a show of good faith they would honour the price. Saddle arrived on the Wednesday after.

Far far better service than I’ve ever received from wiggle.

Stoner – who would you recommend as better than tog24? I could do with a decent lined, properly waterproof jacket, and this one seemed to fit the bill!

Thanks for the replies, sadly we found the main culprit and it was a crack in the headtube!
Contacted canyon and after a bit of faff they agreed to replace under warranty.

New frame and non creaky bike here I come!

I think its top, not too technical, but probably the most fun i’ve had at a trail centre.

Do you mean the rocky drop onto the north shore on the new bit, or the drop just before the new black section fairly early on? (yes, i’ve no idea what the bits are called either)

quick update – and the winner is….rear mech hanger! my eternal thanks go to Carl Phillips!

Checked it over this morning and the bolts holding this to the frame were a little loose – couple of turns later and its (nearly) sorted. Still a bit of a noise, but more of a clicking than a creak.

Think its either pedal bearings or headset, so they’re next on the list.

Excellent, thanks for the replies guys, I shall check n grease everything suggested.

Glad to see no one has suggested the dreaded cracked frame, I’m going to assume that means it 100%, definitely can’t be the farme!

It’s going in to lbs tmoz, so I’ll ask them to check the bb again. I’m hoping it’ll turn out to be something simple, even a new bb would be easier to sort than a replacement frame!

Cheers orange boy, my mate suggested that with the pedals and I kind of ignored it! If it turns out to be something that simple now….

    Hi guys, thanks for replies.

Running flats so no issues with sods or cleats.

Had bb out, checked bearings and been cleaned n regreased.

I’ll check the mech(!) tomorrow, good god I hope you’ve found it!

Def not seat post or saddle as it still creaks when I pedal standing up.

Only Creaks when I pedal uphills btw, as I put pressure down on the pedals on each side. No creak if I bounce on suspension. Irritating!

surely it’d be a damn sight easier if the bloody spectators would get out of the f***ing way!

M&S here – up to £4k per bike, and covered out in shed as long as secured. Also covered outside the house (ie in use) for a small extra fee. Sweet.

Hi teed, I can’t comment on the 9.0 but I’ve had a 6.0 for 5 months now and wouldn’t trade it! The spec is very good, but equally the ride is excellent. I initially had some concerns over the frame having come from an anthem, it felt very soft. However, after getting the suspension pressures sorted it rides ridiculously well. Climbs really well and descends super fast, it’s really helped my confidence, I’m taking on descents and jumps I wouldn’t have gone near before.

I’m only 5’10 so. Don’t know about how it works for a taller rider, although a friend of mine at that sort of height found a 29er fit better.

ok, i’ll be the one to say it – go for the canyon! I upgraded my anthem to a canyon am 6.0 in October and its ace!

hi, just ordered a KMC x10-93, had a really good search around the net and this seemed to get great reviews for the price – £24 on On One website at the mo.

Caveat though – i haven’t tried it as yet, jsut based on other reviews!

hi, used a saris bones 3 for 2 full sussers – mix of a canyon nerve, giant anthem and a spesh fsr – all fit ok with a bit of pushing and thinking.

as ^^ you can get almost any bike to fit using a bike beam TBH.

i know, trying to find what i’m doing wrong. I’ve not crossing over the gears, as i learned relatively early thats a good way to break a chain!

I broke it over at cannock, think i just tried to change both front and back mechs at once, and it got caught. Helpful passer by had a chain tool so removed a link and sorted it – but left it then and i’m thinking that would have weakened it? It went again today as i was going downhill, so not too much tension on chain, and no gear changing? Could it have been over tensioned as my rear sus moved?

thanks TJ, just had bike serviced and was advised chain was in good nick (apart from breaking…) so hopefully can sort without buying a new cassette.

Had thought of trying to repair with a powerlink thingy – but is this only for temp repairs to get you home, rather than a more permanent repair?

thanks Nealy, ordered the superstar one, i am so not getting caught out and having to walk home again!

Any advice on the cassette from anyone?

hi mate, sorry, literally just dropped mine in for service this evening. I have a vague memory of a thread either on here or on bikeradar where a guy was complaining about the cable routing around his BB – caused major rub well into the frame – anyway, that had loads of photos of how the cables should be routed.

The saris bones won’t carry it as is, because of the horizontal shock. However, if you get one of these:

    http://www.saris.com/en/bike-racks/vehicle-racks/trunk-racks.html?page=shop.product_details&category_id=11&flypage=flypage_images_norating.tpl&product_id=40

You should be able to clamp it to your frame and then the bones will fit. I use a bones 3 and managed to get a spesh fsr xc, anthem and canyon nerve all on ok, they’re fairly versatile, especially with the beam.

Trance is a v good bike, but I gambled on the canyon and not regretted it for a moment. Component spec is v good, but frame is a bit of an unsung hero – climbs well and is v quick on descent. Also feels very stable on the more techie stuff and is managing to get me comfortable jumping (a minor miracle!)

We went for the full survey when we bought our first house as it was quite old. not massively impressed, so we left it second time around. The resulting report mainly seemed to state what the surveyor didn’t know! Comments like “there is no evidence of x” sound great, but then after every one they added “note that we are not specialists in x and therefore you should contract a specialist surveyor to obtain a certain result”

So basically, we think it’s ok, but if you find something wrong it’s not our fault as we aren’t specialists!

Mean it’s for standard, not tapered steerer forks?
