Just had a look on Amazon’s own site and I’ve got to admit, it looks really really good! I’d be interested to see
The full spec though, and have a go. I was very impressed with the nexus when I had a play with one.

Only concern really is the Amazon mod of android. Has anyone seen if it’s based on the newest version of android? Oh and how limiting is the Amazon app store vs Google play?

Think it night be an option for a late birthday present…

Thanks for the help so far guys,I’ve had a look and it appears to be about 31mm, does that sound about right?

The seat post that fits says 27.2 on it though if that’s anything to do with it?

It’s a 2010 voodoo wanga frame, and I’m after what size clamp I need and What front mech to buy?

    Thanks again

stop it! Stop it! I’m building a cheap hardtail at the moment, and keep thinking….that frame would be perfect….

Bruk, the thing is that it’s a bit of a lose/lose situation. Both sky and ESPN do decent coverage of the rugby but the commentary…
With ESPN you get Austin who can be insightful and in occasion bounces well off Ben Kay, but sometimes he’s plain awful and really really irritates me.
With sky though, you get Stuart Barnes who quite simply is a cock.
Of course, neither is as bad as the Itv combination of that tosser Craig Doyle and Martin bayfield. How anyone could land that job and know as little as Craig d is beyond me.

To be fair though, I’ve just bought a load of kit off here and bike radar and been totally blown away by the attitude of the sellers. Honestly couldn’t have been more helpful!

The black library has a lot of really good stuff spread across several different authors if you like the war hammer 40k universe? Dan abnett in particular is simply ace.

Richard. Morgan has done some great but very dark stuff altered carbon in particular I couldn’t put down.

Philip k dick has done loads you’ll recognise from Hollywood adaptations.

Already done! All my business is going there from new on. Longer lead times, but obviously because they’re good!

Bit of an update to close this off.

Spoke to a different lbs as a last resort before packing bike off to Germany post my reentry at canyon. They seemed utterly confident they could fix it, no mention of warranty issues etc, but a couple of weeks lead as they’re super busy. So I wait with baited breath.

They phoned me today….and…..fixed! Just like that! So mildly embarrassing post my rant at canyon, but so relieved to get it sorted! Turns out the bolt was loose but not due to the threads being destroyed, just due to it not being tightened up! I don’t know how to do an embarrassed emoticon, but if I did, it’d be here.

In my defence, you can’t access the bolt without removing the cranks, so I could only take the word of my lbs on the damaged thread.

So anyway, the upshot is my bike is fixed so I’m back out riding again!

I got a tog 24 one a couple of months back, about 100 quid. Really pleased so far, water proof even in torrential rain and zip in fleece is very very warm. Probably wouldn’t want to use it for scaling the Alps or crossing the Arctic, but certainly does everything I want it to.

Mate used it for skiing in the Alps too and was utterly satisfied.

Hi, just opened an account for my son, had a but of a look around and Halifax will do a 6% junior Isa which is roughly double the nearest ones. You have to hold an Isa there too, but it’s only got to be opened the same fast and have at least a quid in it.

Transapp, it’s a voodoo wanga 2010 steel frame, but that’s a pretty good idea on the neg chamber, hadn’t thought of that!

    Loco, YGM

    Thanks for the help guys!

Thanks Bernaard, was thinking of trying rigid as a bit of an experiment. Did it ride OK at 120 or was the front listing like mad on climbs?

Hi Spawn, I have the am 6.0, Which I believe is similar but bigger travel. I really like the bike, quality parts and the frame is actuality pretty good.

But, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, Germany is a bloody long way ifyou have an issue (I’ve had 2 now in first 10 months) and frankly canyon UK are a waste of space.

+1 on the Oxford chainlock and ground anchor ^^

fitted to wall of house recently, through the back wall of my shed and its solid as you like. Just make sure the lock itself is as good!

yeah I know, took a bit of mate-style honesty to tell me to stop being an indignant prat. Kind of taking my anger with canyon service above actually getting out and riding! Bike is in for repair and buying a new bottom bracket and tyres instead of new frame – far cheaper!

could you just pick a country first, then pick a sport they don’t compete in as yet? Say compete for a tiny south sea island, like the Cooke Islands, then take up fencing? If there’s only one person competing for a place from that country…..?

hi Chapaking, its at my LBS now, they reckon I may have been given a worse case scenario – ie its not the threads and is therefore fixable. Sorry, not sure how or what else it could be, but i’m not a bike mechanic, I’ll update as soon as they tell me, and obviously would tell any prospective buyer if it has to be heli-coiled. Agreed on the ‘loss’ bit, I have had some ace rides on it.

I suspect if its as big a loss (sorry!) as this (which lets me realistic, its going to be) I’m better off sucking it up, and hoping for no more repairs! As I said – I enjoy the ride, just a bit down on Canyon themselves. And as mentioned on another thread – you can get bad service and delays from LBS purchased bikes too.

My mate suggested I stop being a nob and get out riding as soon as i get it back and forget about selling/buying bikes!

Paul, did think about doing that, but wondering if i’m better doing it the other way around – try and sell frame and then buy a new frame and fit my parts to it.

From what i understand, the frame is virtually free if you add up the components, so anything i make would just go towards the new one.

so about £1k max you reckon? Yeah, hoped for more, but realistically I can see that.

    Ugh.

    I’m 5′ 10 and a medium fits me fine.

A word of warning though, the bike itself rides really well, I love it, but just be really aware how much of an Arse it is if something goes wrong. My frame cracked and it took nigh on 2 months to sort. The UK office are not the most helpful either. Not trying to put you off, as I said, it’s a cracking bike, but be very aware of the limitations of the direct sales model before you get into it!

Thanks for the replies guys. I think probably the best course of action is going to be to suck it up, get a German repair or new frame and then sell it on or deal with it and carry on riding!

I would love to push for a refund but after 10 months I can’t see it happening, as much as I’d love to!

I think it could be repaired by my lbs, but I also think it would invalidate my warranty, Which isn’t worth a couple of weeks non riding.

So, a warning to all that consider the canyon direct sales model!

As per my thread further down the page, it’s great value until or goes wrong. I’ve lost nearly 3 months of riding out of the 10 I’ve owned my canyon due to frame and rebuild issues. The direct sales model is great until it goes wrong.

    spudly1979

@Dezb is that true? Will it invalidate my warranty?

    spudly1979

ah, ok, no its literally about 6-8 weeks i think i’ve had the frame back, and limited miles as i only get out once, maybe twice a week. (i know, pathetic!)

    spudly1979

yeah i agree, it’d be more cut and dried if it was instantly discovered, but if its been ridden carefully, and cared for, then what difference does it make to the cross thread? Surely its cross threaded or its not, riding it won’t make any difference?

    spudly1979

@Scott – that’s how they told me to send it, so i did. I asked if i needed to strip it down, they said “no, we’ll strip it and rebuild it for you as part of warranty”

@nick – that’s what i’m leaning towards. I mean, I like the bike, it rides really well (and yes, its a huge skill compensator before anyone asks!!) and I can see a lengthy email battle with me unable to ride the bike and ultimately ending up with a repair.

    spudly1979

@Chakaping, yeah i know, i was contacting them more out of hope than belief! I had a new frame built up by them and sent back. I’ve since ridden it a fair bit, but not taken anything apart, so there’s no other way the mount has gotten threaded than by their mechanic.

thanks for the quick replies guys, most echoing my opinions, if not my hopes!

@Teamslug – thats what I had originally thought to do, but LBS have said they don’t want to touch it as its not a frame they ‘support’ ie a cube, orange or cannondale, and they’re afraid will void warranty.

@Clubber – I think that may be all I can do. They’ve just replied to my second email saying that its not possible to refund under any circumstances as the bike is too old.

@Shortcut – the mech itself is fine, but i can’t mount it to the frame!

ah right, the £140 is just the tax bit based on co2.

I think we’ve the option of an allowance but its poor to say the least. I’m doing 35-40k miles a year too, so maintenance costs is a big bonus for me.

    spudly1979

really? I just had a quick look at my details and its costing me 140 a month, even if i’m looking at the higher tax band – which i’m not in yet! Am i working it out wrong? £500 a month seems bonkers to me?

@Chomp – can you just connect a USB stick (via an adaptor i guess) to the micro usb slot? Or does the nexus need to be rooted?

I’d have one of these by now if i wasn’t having major issues with the bike again!

Anything with Mila Jovovich in it – Aeon Flux, Ultraviolet, Resident Evil etc etc.
    +1 for lost in translation
has anyone mentioned A.I? Good lord, thats 2 hours or so i’ll never get back.
Have to say though, i really enjoyed Inception!
Oh, and Phantom Menace, purely for ruining the Star Wars franchise. I could happily strangle Jaja bloody Binks and if Anakin says “Yippee!” one more time…..

sorry to hijack – my bike is creaking (again) and a mate has suggested it might be the bottom bracket on its way out – could this be the case? Also, is there any specific one to buy (and how do i tell?) or are they the same apart from material/brand etc?

    spudly1979

Right, OK so am I right in thinking that if the truvativ ones are marked 104 BCD and are 4 bolt, and a superstarone is marked 104 etc, then they’re compatible or am I looking at the wrong details?

Why can’t it all just be easy!?
